The staff is AMAZING! Administrators, nurses, drivers, caregivers, office staff... every single person who represents Fenwick Landing is a blessing for seniors in their care and their families. My aunt has dementia and the Fenwick day program has been a Godsend for us! My aunt always enjoys her time there. Though her retelling of the details of the day may not be accurate, she has a great time at the center and talks about how "nice" everybody is. I appreciate how Fenwick keeps us informed about the menu, activities, health information, opportunities for immunization and special programs, and any general updates we may need. Whenever there are any questions about my aunt, they call. If she misses days, someone always calls to check on her. They genuinely care about the participants! During COVID, the staff was diligent about maintaining safe practices and ensuring the health of center participants. They enforced the use of masks and informed us if there was ever an incident of someone contracting COVID. They also encouraged and required COVID testing. I could just go on and on about how great they are! There's nothing like being confident that your family is safe and always receiving the very best care. I am SO THANKFUL for Fenwick Landing and the entire staff. I'd give TEN stars if I could. :-)

The love that my mom received was as a family member, not a resident. There were always planned activities and holiday celebrations as well as birthday celebrations. There are musical performances and other cultural and healthful activities. It's difficult for anyone to adjust to a new environment, and even more so for an elderly person with dementia. The Kensington Park staff do their best to welcome and acclimate new residents - which, with the added problem of Covid, is a challenge. They are kind and attentive, dealing with irritability and other behaviors with grace and patience. The management is very open to communication from family members and every issue is addressed. I would give Genesis LaPlata Center on Magnolia Drive five stars, I'd do ten if I could. My mom who…read morehad her leg amputated in September was admitted into Genesis LaPlata for exactly one week ago and I am amazed at the level of care and attention she has received and her progress in such a short time. The facility itself is not brand new but it is neat, very clean, welcoming and has no bad odor that some facilities have. The nursing staff is friendly and attentive, they engage mom in ways that are kind and respectful. She arrived late Wednesday evening the day before Thanksgiving and her designated nurse was named Richard and he was particularly detailed oriented as he accessed the situation on all levels. By Friday morning when we arrived before 10am Mom was bathed, dressed, sitting in a chair (for the first time in over a month), brushing her teeth and ready to go to therapy. We were able to accompany her to OT and PT and were astounded how the therapist interacted with her and kept her motivated. For the first time since her amputation and despite three other unproductive stays in rehab facilities this was the first time that we could see her turning around, making progress and to getting back to her old self. Our interaction with the front office staff has been wonderful. Renee Grubbs who I believe manages the Skilled Nursing Wing is a consummate professional, she made certain that our family knew everything that we needed to know about what to expect. Renee encouraged us to ask any questions and to notify them of anything good, bad or otherwise, she has kept us up to date and won our confidence by her genuine care. Camille Cutchember handled the main part of the admission and it was so smooth. Late today I received a call from one of the staff named David who went through an extensive list of questions in order to create a "custom program" of activities for Mom based on her abilities and preferences. I will tell you that it is clear that this facility is concerned with the welfare of its residents/patients and makes every effort to create a home environment. I can not say enough about this location and the people who run it. I would recommend this facility to anyone who loves their family and wants them taken care of with skill and compassion.

I and the rest of my 91 year Mom's progeny are very grateful she decided to retire from New York…read more nearly ten years ago before Mom thought she was ready for a retirement community. She chose to buy into Collington Life Care Community http://www.collington.com/ [non-profit CCRC] in [Mitchellville/Bowie, Md] in suburban Washington, D.C. Right away Mom plunged into lots of activities, planted the garden around her gracious cottage, took exercise and literature classes from Prince Georges Community College, on Collington Campus, and made friends with other active retirees and the very caring staff. She didn't partake of birdwatching, vegetable gardening, swimming, nearby golf courses, and some other outdoor activities. She chose to take on leadership roles in the Collington community and delivered Meals on Wheels. http://keepingupwithcollington.org/ When she broke her hip she was received rigorous and effective rehab while temporarily resident in the health center. When we 'made her' give up her car she was able to get to the Metro, shopping, doctors' appointments, Kennedy Center, Arena Center, and more via the Collington shuttle. When she had a small stroke she again moved back to he health center to receive rigorous rehab. Now she is back in her cottage, this time with a few hours of aides to help keep up her activities. Now as we spend more time walking the halls and grounds with her it's so gratifying to encounter numerous friends among the residents and staff who cheer on her recovery. I wish such stimulating, safe, and nurturing communities would be accessible for the growing upcoming senior population.

She lived in a beautiful cottage where birdwatching, gardening, music, walking her dog and making new friends filled her days. Using Collington transportation she had season tickets for the opera, the symphony, Arena Theater as well as enjoying many other cultural events at Collington and beyond. My 3 siblings and I fell in love with Collington's embrace of our mother and willingness to allow us to fully participate in Mother's life. In many, many ways through the years it became obvious to us that Collington valued its residents and wanted to encourage family involvement. The fabulous Sunday brunches, instituted by the head of dining services, Eli Ayoub are one of many examples. On any given Sunday one sees dozens of families, including children, grandchildren, even great-grandchildren enjoying the brunch together, feeding ducks on the lake. In these past two years, after a nasty fall, our mother was confined to assisted living. The care she received on Chesapeake was always compassionate and respectful. We grew to love each and every one of her caregivers. Again, we were encouraged to be there as much as possible. When the final days arrived our large family did vigil for a week. Instead of encouraging us to limit our visits, Eli arranged for a large hospitality tray to be delivered outside

After completing programs at 2 physical rehabilitation facilities, she was able to move forward to life in an assisted living facility. We had our doubts that any facility would make her happy ... and quite honestly, we've all seen assisted living facilities over the years that didn't look like great places to be. After weeks of searching we found Morningside House of St. Charles and scheduled a tour. Upon walking into the lobby I immediately noticed that the facility looked and smelled clean and is staffed with kind, friendly, proactive people ... EVERY staffer encountered had a kind word and seemed genuinely happy to see us. The facilities are perfect for mom. We chose a 1 bedroom apartment with lots of closet space and an accessible, private bathroom and a nice sized living room space. Mom's meals offer variety and nutrition, and mom's meds are monitored and administered. Additionally, there are many daily activities from mom to choose from and religious services are available for those inclined. There are so many at Morningside House of St. Charles to thank for their care and dedication and their contributions to mom's life and happiness; the front desk personnel, the admissions staff, the nursing staff and the floor staff. I'd be totally remiss however if I didn't express my extreme gratitude to Morningside House of St. Charles Executive Director, Ms. Jennifer Soper who was able to explain the process and whose herculean efforts facilitated mom's transition to assisted living. She even came into work on her day off to facilitate and coordinate mom's arrival. It's scary to think how mom's life would be if not for Morningside House of St. Charles and the kindness of Ms. Soper. I couldn't be happier for the care and living environment that mom enjoys every day. Well done Morningside House of St. Charles!!!

I am a Registered Nurse, along with several of my family members, but we are spread out on the east coast and were unable to meet our mother's daily needs. It took us a tireless year to commit to the fact that our mother needed more than a helping hand. She needed geriatric specialists that would not only tend to her activities of daily living, but to foster her independence among her peers. It has been a very difficult year with COVID, which made this decision such a struggle, but we did our research and was convinced that Morningside was the safest choice. I worked closely with Tajia Lee, Director of Sales and Marketing, who walked me through a step by step process in the most caring and compassionate manner. Tajia showed patience and understanding throughout my personal struggle and allowed me the time I needed to complete this transition. She comforted and walked me through the first few weeks and kept me abreast about my mom's acclimation at Morningside House in the midst of a pandemic. I am so proud to say that my mother is not only doing well, she is thriving. She loves her apartment and praises all of the staff at Morningside House. She has made many friends and is now laughing and participating in activities. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. As a healthcare worker, I can honestly say that the staff and government compliance, regarding COVID-19, has been impeccable at Morningside House. Our family is reassured with our decision every time we FaceTime and visit because Mom is genuinely happy.
