If I could give 6 stars I would. Be careful not to miss this place, Al and Vini, (owners,) did a good job finding a nice hiding spot for it. New York New York is the landmark to look for on the street. As for Genies itself it's the best hookah bar around. Kendra hit the nail on the head, they prepare the bowls in a traditional manner and all the staff are trained well at it. Summer time is a down time for them, being most of there clients are Arab students and have gone home to visit over the summer, however most nights it's still packed. Be sure to show up before 8:30 if you want a good spot. Typical music is hip-hop, R&B, some rock and traditional Eastern music. Requests can be made and after a few visits you can bring your own in if Al doesn't have it. The staff are amazing and friendly. And an inside tip from a regular, don't show up and disrespect them or the cafe in anyway, (showing up drunk or messing with the bowl, things like that,) we'll kick you out for them. This place has been amazing! This is our first visit because we're celebrating my friends birthday; and we were greeted at the door and asked for our ID's, they then provided her with a free birthday drink, we chose our flavor and we weren't to fond of it and before we had said anything they offered to change it if we needed! Then he gave us a second hookah to try the flavor that he had mixed as a courtesy, then we ordered a mixed rebel and he gave us another one on the house! I believe the man is the owner or manager, but the hospitality/customer service has been outstanding! And his friends even came and sat down and conversated with us! We are very thankful and intrigued! We will definitely come back! Before coming here we had went to another hookah bar up the street and we weren't thrilled. If I could give genie a thousand stars I would. I have been coming here the last four years and I'll be coming here until they get sick of me. The staff isn't staff anymore they are family and treat every customer with pure respect. Most hookah bars (and trust me I've tried them all) don't bring to the table what genie does. Rashid the owner is such a sweetheart and will make sure you are 100% satisfied with your visit. They play a wide variety of music, offer a wide variety of flavors, as well as snacks and drinks. Plus they are the best priced hookah bar I have ever seen. It's always a pleasure to come here after a hectic day and I promise no disappointment. This hookah bar is the best hookah bar I have ever been too. Genie hookah café is like my second home I absolutely love it here the service is great the employees are fantastic. The single owner is quite attractive, awesome, funny and very polite. Also every Thursday night is ladies night and all ladies get a free drink. There is also a DJ that night too. Honestly, the best hookah lounge around! I've been to many other lounges around the Portland metro area, and nothing else remotely compares. The hookah is very consistent and always fantastic. The customer services is impeccable, with knowledgable and friendly employees. The owner, who is in almost every night, values his customers. I've been coming here for over a year, multiple times a week and I won't go anywhere else. I've boughten 5 hookahs here as well as all of my accessories and shisha. If you're looking for a hookah bar in the Portland vicinity Genies is the place to go! I have tried several different hookah bars and this is definitely the best I've been to. The hookah is 13 bucks each and the quality is fantastic. I always ask for a mix and they make a monster mix every time. The owner Rashid walks around and checks in on everyone; he came and sat with our group and chilled with us for a few. My boyfriend and i were visiting the Portland area for the first time this past weekend, and we happened to discover Genie's Hookah lounge and we were instantly warmly welcomed by Bean. She was by far the friendliest person we met in the Portland area! she was super helpful and made such awesome suggestions. Their shisha flavors are fun and original. Best hookah lounge in the PDX area. This coming from someone who smokes hookah daily, and out of state when I travel! Of all the lounges this one has the most friendly feel and people. The staff knows what they are doing and the hookahs are amazing! I suggest anything with Mint but currently I love track 6 and mint! A must have! Oh and there house mix is amazing! By far the best hookah bar I have been to. I used to go to other places and the service was shotty. Genie's is clean, very spacious, fast service, good music and good hookah. You get new coals every few minutes, they check up to see if you need anything often and the servers are really friendly. It's only 10 bucks for the hookah and 5 bucks for the refill. I came here for the first time tonight and I am really impressed. I thought it would be completely different but there are really great people who work here. I had never tried hooka before so I said surprise me and what they gave me was delicious. they had so many flavors to choose from! Genie's has the best flavors, combinations, and options of hooka in the area. they have a very friendly staff and do a great job of making sure you are taken care of. I love that you can sit inside or outside and have the option to change flavors at any point during your visit. parking is annoying but you can park on the street right next to Burgerville and spend all night at Genie's with no problem. read more
