Clothing: Optional. If you plan to wear swimwear, I'd recommend putting it on at the parking lot since there isn't much privacy or covered area at the cove for changing. How to get there: A scenic 0.75-mile hike. Water: Warm-ish (for Tahoe standards) and a bright turquoise color. There are porta-potty restrooms available at the parking lot at the start of the trail. When I went, I only saw a couple of older men fully nude; most people were wearing swimwear. The hike is a bit steep at the beginning, so sturdy shoes or water shoes are a good idea. A lot of people bring water sports gear, coolers, and picnic setups. There was even a small hippie-style drum circle near the cove, which added to the laid-back vibe. Please remember to pack out all your trash and help keep this beautiful spot clean.

We ended up choosing Tahoe Experience because Bret was so positive, patient, and offered great prices. On the boat, we had Chris, a freelance captain who works with Bret. Chris was a joy to be around. He was super relaxed, funny, and kind. He took great care of us during our boat rental. The ride to Emerald Drive took about 30 minutes, and we spent an hour there before heading back. Sadly, I got hurt while paddleboarding. It was all my fault since it was my first time. Chris helped me out of the water, took care of my scrapes, and drove us back to shore safely. He even gave us the closest emergency hospital details and offered to refund half of the agreed amount. We were so grateful for his help and really appreciated his kindness. Bret texted me to check in and say he was sorry about what happened. Bret and Chris are truly amazing people to work with. Even though I was at fault, we had a blast meeting Chris and having him as our captain. The boat itself was the total package, with a slide, paddleboards, spacious lounging decks, and so many fun amenities. Bret brought the perfect mix of adventure, rich history of the area, and fun. He even encouraged some of the girls to step outside their comfort zones and experience things they normally would not do. Whether that was taking an "hike" up to the teahouse or jumping off the boat! I truly cannot recommend this experience enough. If you are planning a bachelorette/ bachelor trip, or simply love adventure, good vibes, and getting out on the water, this is an absolute must! Worth the detour [Genoa NV]…read more We took a little day trip to visit the historic town of Genoa in Nevada. Genoa is just 25 minutes over Kingsbury Grade from South Lake Tahoe and about an hour south of Reno. We took the Kingsbury Grade on SR 207, a road that offers beautiful panoramas of the Sierra Nevada mountains but was pretty steep with a few sharp curves. It is actually listed in the dangerousroads.org website. The early trail over the pass was more of a footpath than a road. Now imagine those emigrants with their oxen, horses and mules taking this route as they forged ahead to the foot of the trail... When we reached the historic town of Genoa we parked our car and began exploring. It's a small town so easy walk: Flutter & Buzz Cafe - had brunch here Sierra Chef - had gelato here Genoa Bar & Saloon Genoa Courthouse Museum Dancing Deer - purchased a few souvenirs Mormon Station State Historic Park - self guided tour I wasn't expecting much in this charming little pocket-sized town.. I mean, Main Street is only but a few blocks but there was enough history and charm in this little community. Truth be told, I think he was way more excited about IHOP than riding a gondola that might've been the biggest smile I saw out of him all morning! Being the thrill seeker and adventurer that I am, I managed to score us tickets for 10:30 a.m., even though they normally don't start running until noon. After weaving through a little bit of a scramble in line, we were on our way. The ride up is absolutely stunning. I grabbed some great photos and videos, shot an awesome time-lapse from the observation deck, and even filmed a YouTube video on the ride back down. One of the employees noticed what I was doing and kindly moved me into one of the fully clear gondola cabins. That made all the difference, and I really appreciated it. The climb is incredible. You slowly glide for what feels like a mile and a half or two miles, soaking in the scenery, and then the last stretch shoots almost straight up the mountain. Talk about breathtaking! Between the views of Lake Tahoe, the mountains, and the gondolas passing by, it was hard to put the camera down. One of my favorite moments happened on the observation deck. I was filming a time-lapse when I noticed a guy taking pictures of some people, but he wasn't getting the lake in the background. I couldn't help myself I walked over, got everyone lined up, included the lake behind them, and snapped the shot. Before I knew it, I'd taken pictures for seven different groups... and another one on the way out. My son finally looked at me and said, "Dad, why do you have to take everybody's picture?" I just smiled and told him, "Well... I am the photographer." Fantastic staff, amazing atmosphere, unbelievable views, and we even got a great deal. If you're visiting Lake Tahoe, this is an experience you absolutely shouldn't miss.

Walking around at the top and rock mining for little kids to play with dirt and rocks for $25 was over the top. Then if you needed to eat the basic bar foods. That's outrageous priced. Unless it's for skiing I wouldn't make the trip back up here.

It was my boyfriend's and my first time, and we actually found this place on TikTok and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did because it was amazing! The staff were friendly, whether we were talking to them in person or over the phone. Making a reservation was also really easy. Our reservation was at 4 PM, and we arrived around 3:30 PM. We were taken out about 20 minutes after arriving. There isn't really good cell service out there, but honestly, that's okay! You're supposed to enjoy what's right in front of you and take in the beautiful views. Wearing a helmet is optional, and I personally chose not to wear one. I got Becky, who was a really slow horse but absolutely beautiful. Throughout the tour, the horses can stop whenever they need to use the restroom while you're riding them. They are very friendly and don't harm you. Before the tour, the guides and workers show you how to turn left, right, stop, and go. Please don't be harsh on the horses. They can get hungry and tired, and after each tour, they are given food. Sometimes, even when you're close to finishing the tour, your horse might start rushing because they know they're almost done. The horses can also stop to scratch themselves on trees, which is what my horse did! Our tour guide was Tula (I'm sorry if I spelled her name wrong), and my boyfriend rode Brown Jack. Throughout the entire tour, our guide made us feel very safe. She asked us questions, talked with us, and really took the time to get to know us. I absolutely loved her! We also made a stop along the way where she took individual pictures of us and group pictures. The views were beautiful, and it was such a special experience. At the end, my boyfriend's horse tried to bite another horse, and an employee hit the horse with a rope. I honestly felt really bad seeing that because I felt sorry for the horse. They also provide stools to make it easier to get on the horses, and the staff helped adjust the seating and foot area so we could be comfortable. By the end, my butt was definitely hurting , but honestly, it was worth it! Overall, this was a lovely experience, and I would definitely recommend it, especially if you want something peaceful, beautiful, and different from the usual activities. 10/10!

HISTORIC Mormon Station is the site of Nevada's first permanent non-native settlement and replicates the original 1851 Mormon Station trading post that burned down in 1910. It was rebuilt in 1947 as a museum and today it stores many original pioneer era artifacts. It was referred to as a fort but it was never one. There was never any military presence here nor did any battles take place. It was actually a stockade. BUILT AS A TRADING POST We took a self-guided walking tour inside the stockade (the enclosure of walls built with logs placed vertically, side by side). There were informative boards, one sign asked to imagine if you were standing at that very place and what would you expect to see... we would likely see oxen grazing, stable sheds, a haystack or two and a small vegetable garden. The stockade was used as corral for the oxen, horses and mules. COOL ARTIFACTS There were authentic exhibits used during that period. I especially found the semi trucks of the 1800's amusing. There was a real life piece of a freight wagon as one of the exhibits. The wagon displayed is a California rack-bed freight wagon. Mormon Station was worth a visit. I would recommend to include a stop here for a perfect loop around Lake Tahoe. Review #3736

The Dangberg Ranch is located on HWY 88 just south of its intersection with HWY 395, and you'll head west onto a dirt road for about a mile to get to the ranch, and the road is a bit rough, and on the day we went, muddy from recent rain. Because it's the off-season, we easily found parking at the trailhead. Advertised as a 4.6-mile out-and-back moderately challenging trail, our party decided to hike 2 miles up and back as the wind was becoming gustier by the minute. While on the trail, we encountered motorized mountain bikers, a gopher snake, and beautiful views. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas, but beware that this is a black bear, mountain lion, and snake habitat. Prior to beginning the trail, I recommend a stop at the Mormon Station State Historic Park to use their restrooms. If you're there when the museum is open, it's $1 per adult.
