Nothing spectacular. The room is for the most part clean and the aircon cool. I was bothered by the…read morefact that I saw numerous small ants and bugs crawling around the room. I don't know where they all pop up from but there are just so many. The water pressure is rather weak and left me dissatisfied after the shower. The wifi is practically nonexistent so I had to keep hotspotting myself. The beds and sheets looked relatively clean and we got a free upgrade once we checked into the hotel. It is centrally located so that is a plus, but I don't know if I would come again since it seems like it's regularly priced at $36 a night for a double room. Finally there's a complimentary breakfast at the coffee shop on the third floor, which is nice but definitely don't upgrade since you can get a much better breakfast out on the street for the same price.

The standard room is small room with 2 small twin beds fit for tiny people and have to add 350 Philippine pesos per night for another adult other than 2 adults in the room. I asked for additional mattress and was asked for additional 250 pesos. I shouldn't complain for this price but there are bugs crawling in the room, ants and small looking like cockroaches. I asked housekeeping about the smell and was told they don't smell anything. Smelled like gas or mothballs or paint. If not for the smell and the occasional creepy crawly bugs, I would have given more stars for this price but these things are hard to overlook and I am worried for my health. I already paid for 3 nights and I will request a different room. The staff are nice people though and housekeeping is fast, so I was thinking of putting 3 star but 2 stars is the best description at the moment for my experience. I am updating my review a week later because my daughter left her slippers (flip flops) not really a big deal but my daughter wants it back so we went and ask if the hotel staff found it. They did and gave it back to us. Awesome, not many will have staff that are honest and really heartwarming.

If you're booking Bethel Guest House only for the cheap price and central location in Dumaguete, it…read moremay serve its purpose. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. While I know some guests enjoy the water-facing rooms, ours unfortunately faced another room's window, so we kept the curtains closed the entire stay. This made the room feel dark and uncomfortable. The room was extremely outdated and very cramped, especially with two twin beds--there was barely any space to move around. The overall atmosphere felt unsettling, almost as if the building had been converted from a hospital, giving it a creepy vibe. The bathroom was especially disappointing: -Black mold on the ceiling -Worn-down mirror and shower that felt more like a rundown hostel -The only positive was the complimentary shower shoes, which were very much needed The bedding was also an issue since the sheets felt itchy, and I refused to use the blanket. The air in both the room and lobby felt stuffy and old, and I found myself coughing throughout the night. I've heard the food is good and that there's a rooftop area, but after the overall experience, I had no interest in exploring further. Thankfully, we only stayed one night. Bottom line: This property is marketed higher than it should be and realistically feels like a 1-star hotel. It may work if you're only looking for a budget stay in a prime location, but if cleanliness, comfort, or atmosphere matter to you, I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

This may have been the grand restaurant of Dumaguete 40 years ago, but its now in desperate need of new ownership, remodeling, and upgrades in every area.

Due to the storm the hotel was booked and my room was rented out even though I reserved it, but luckily they upgrade my room for one night. I felt like a queen in that room. Even though I saw a lot of hair in the bathroom, under the bed sheet and on the bedroom floor, even when they transfer me to my original room there was still hair. Guess they were in a hurry. The staff was nice and receptionists were very accommodating especially when I asked for directions. There was a Jollibee and few sarisari store nearby with transportation around. Over all I can say that my stay was really nice.

There location is close to the main road and has easy access to local transportation, but most areas of require a jeep ride. The compound has a fair amount of parking spaces available, and free WiFi is available as well. There are three rooms available: single rooms are quite tiny and should suffice for a few nights stay with anything longer proving to eat up on the remaining space within the room; twin or queen sized bed rooms are a bit larger. They both feature private baths and have shared living areas. The deluxe suite room however is like four smaller rooms rolled into one, with its own living area with a refrigerator, and a spacious room within and an appropriately sized bath. All rooms are contemporary and have flat screen LCD TV's.
