My wife recently had work done at Gentle Dental in Avondale; this is her review: I recently had a crown replaced. Dr. Le was a wonderful dentist; It was the first time I'd had work done from him, and right away I felt very comfortable with him and the work which he did. Abel was the dental assistant, and he is one who has worked on me before. As always, he was very professional and personable. He makes one feel "at home" in the chair and gives me great confidence in his capabilities. I would only recommend this dental office with strong reservations. One major issue I experienced was consistently extremely painful and stressful dental cleanings. After recently visiting other dental offices, I realized that cleanings should not be that uncomfortable. Though I do have a lot of respect for dental hygienists--their job of cleaning people's mouths is incredibly difficult, and I know I couldn't do this job myself. One time, they upsold me a very expensive mouthwash that cost over $50. I bought it because my cleanings were always very painful, and they claimed it would help by preventing buildup. But it didn't make any difference--it was a complete waste of money. I was a patient here for about five years, and another issue was that over time it became clear that communication was consistently lacking. The staff never directly explained their concerns with me. Good and timely communication helps prevent much bigger issues down the line, but unfortunately, that standard wasn't met here. Additionally, I never even knew who the actual dentist was--his name or even if it was the same person each time I visited. There was also a billing or coding error during one of my visits. Despite it being the office's responsibility to resolve and they actually promised to do so, I had to resolve the issue myself despite myself not being on the expert on the field. If you live in the area, I recommend exploring or at least looking into other options, such as Gentle Dental in Palm Valley or a private dental practice. These alternatives generally offer better continuity of care, lower staff turnover, and honest communication in difficult situations. And the dental cleaning to my honest experience is much less painful. read more

Quality care: my veneers broke and I came in for a full exam with Dr. Le. He was very knowledgeable with veneer procedures. The rapore of Dr Le and his assistant Jackie and Gabbie are very personable and attentive. They made me feel comfortable during my visits. Dr Le explains thoroughly on what needs to be done to my teeth. Overall, kudos to Dr Le and his team!!! Definitely will recommend to friends and family. read more

Great office staff. Dentist OK. BAD dental hygienist this time. Told me to quit being "lazy" about flossing consistently. Before cleaning my teeth, she used a very sharp tool that looked, and felt like a needle to dig in my gum. I said, "Ouch!" because it really hurt. She kept going. I jumped. I winced. Didn't stop. Didn't apologize. After the cleaning was done, practically raced me up to the front. She turned her back without as much as a, "Have a good rest of your day." Now, I could care less if she was having a bad day. Don't take it out on the patient. I dont care if she was frustrated about my gums. Don't take it out on the patient. She scolded and treated me like one of her children​. I was HOT. It makes me so mad that I may not return to this location or maybe not return to a GD at all. We are grateful that we finally found an excellent dental office in Avondale, AZ. Monique has the patience in explaining the work to be done and the price that goes with it. She's always warm and friendly when we make appointments. Our Hygiene Coach, "Angel," is living to her name. She has done a great job in making sure that she cleaned our teeth to the best outcome. Our two daughters compliment her for her thoroughness. We highly recommend her for her expertise, and caring ways. they did a root canal on me. i kept telling them the pain i was having for months. they treated me like i was a baby. i went in there to talk to them about the pain. he got mad a just pulled the root canal out. had the balls to charge me. i went to another dentist, he did x rays. then told me i had cancer in that spot. was sent to a surgeon. they cut it out. then i had 30 radiation and chemo treatments. gentle dental ripped me off. i spent a small fortune there. please dont go there read more

I am 71 years old and I have been a patient at Gentle Family Dentist Avondale for the past two years. Dr. Clausen, his hygienists, assistants and staff provide outstanding service. I had the same dentist for over 50 years in Illinois until he retired and then I used my wife's dentist for 10 years and Dr. Clausen is so much like my two prior dentists. He only does what needs to be done. He wants patients to keep their own teeth if at all possible. When I first went to Dr. Clausen he found that I had infections above my upper teeth that would eventually destroy bone in my jaw. My best option was a 4 on 4 implant for the upper teeth. Dr. Sambora is the oral surgeon and he handles single implants at Dr Clausen's office and 4 on 4 implants at his office in Phoenix. Dr Sambora is an incredible oral surgeon who has handled my 4 on 4 implants and two bottom teeth implants. He is a is a great fit for Gentle Family Dentistry. Dr. Clausen is so much like my prior two dentists and I will stay with him and his staff until the day I leave this world. I cannot over emphasize how professional this dental practice is and each member of the staff is wonderful. I believe Gentle Family Dentistry is the best dental office in the West Valley and could easily be the best dentist in Arizona. read more

I don't LOVE the dentist, but I'm cool with it. Always have a fine experience. This was my first time having a really truly negative experience at a dentist. They are absolutely not aptly named. Nothing about my cleaning was gentle--the hygienist even managed to be rough when wiping where she spilled water on my face. I told her I was in pain multiple times and instead of offering more of the numbing shot, she got upset with me and told me it's my fault for being nervous. I'm not normally nervous at the dentist! And she said she would only give me more numbing if it was unbearable. I've had the same cleaning done before and was always offered more numbing if I felt ANYTHING. She seemed to think it was a massive inconvenience to maybe not leave me in pain and that it was my fault for needing more. At no point was the plan communicated. She never explained what she was doing--just lots of face grabbing in silence. Both on their online thing and in person they had me sign documents I didn't get to see until after I signed them. I don't care about dentists but this was a truly terrible experience and I will be continuing my dental care elsewhere. read more

For me visiting a dentist has always compared to having a colonoscopy, you know, one of the most dreaded appointments you can have that will give me the highest anxiety. Well today Dr Howard and Claudia provided me the best dental appointment in my entire life. If I could give them a zero I would. I had made an appointment for my disabled brother after I was given this provider as an in net work dentist from Cigna. When I made the appointment I gave them all his info from his insurance card. Then today when I had a taxi take him there they refused to see him because they wanted to charge him for a cleaning. This man is a disabled veteran who had his 5th stroke at 49yrs and can barely talk or walk. I am beyond frustrated they could had told me this when I made the appointment. After a few years of not seeking dental care, I finally scheduled an appointment at the Gentle Dental office in Avondale. Who likes going to the dentist, right? This group practice changed that for me. The office staff was very professional and friendly. There was minimal wait time, perhaps less than 10 minutes in the lobby before I was called back for my treatment. At the end of my visit, the front office staff explained the charges, what my insurance would cover and answered my questions. Worst dental office ever. Went in for a routine 6 month checkup, no issues at my last appt. I was told need a deep cleaning that couldn't be done today. I have never had this advised or requested . I advised I wanted a regular cleaning they refused. My adult daughter went in as well same thing AND she was given an assessment of $4,000 worth of work that needed to be done. How did our teeth get so rotten in 6 months? We were in their office for 2 full hours and nothing happened. Sounds like this is how they make up for dollars lost on their cheap dental plan.... Don't Waste your money. When I first went to gentle dental I was charge for a full mouth x-ray that my insurance didn't pay for. At first I thought it was my error because I didn't check what was covered on my insurance. Then I paid for in office teeth cleaning. When they first explain their in office teeth cleaning they told me to expect to be there at least two hours. During my appointment for in-house teeth cleaning I was only there a little over than an hour and my teeth are not much different than when I came in. I explain to the person who did the teeth cleaning that I was a Very disappointed that they wouldn't much different. then when I came in. Her response was " Oh you must have an injury to your teeth therefore they can't be whitened, Thisb is bullish--. I have had better results with crest teeth strips. I took my disabled sister to get a cleaning/ checkup. After waiting for 45 minutes I assumed the dentist( she never introduced herself) came in and asked if she a bunch of questions which made it seem like she was very apprehensive and then started stating that she didn't know how much they could assist her do to her disability. I asked if she was comfortable with servicing her. Which she responded by saying that she would check with their front office to see if they had a dentist that serviced special needs. This is all without even looking at my sister. They don't know who works in their office? Needless to say we left.
