One of my very rare 1-star reviews but have to warn others about my bad experience here! Found this office through a triage phone number for dental emergencies and was relieved to get in the next day. I'm averse to going to the dentist so I was hoping it would not be too bad. Then the tech. had me bite on a mouth appliance for x-rays. It was too big for my mouth and painful so I was not able to hold it in place while he was taking x-rays of my teeth. My mouth started to tremble in pain aside from the severe toothache I was already experiencing. He basically told the dentist that the films are not clear because of me. Then, the dentist glared at me and asked me why I have not taken care of my teeth and proceeded to hand me off to the dental hygienist for a deep cleaning. Fortunately, I already took some antibiotics prior to the visit because the procedure was brutal and bloody! It took him 30 minutes to chisel my teeth and I was told by the dentist that this usually takes 2 visits to complete. Got a $1700 bill for the visit and cleaning since I don't have dental insurance. My left molar started to hurt and I was in pain for several days after. Ironically, it was not the tooth that was hurting in the first place! I went to Gentle Dental for a tooth extraction and partial plate to be done,my back left upper tooth had a broken root back in February of this year.Dr Mangon knew this and so didn't his tech,neither one told me! My son went here for severe mouth pain. They did xrays and told him he had an infection and needed a root canal. Left the place started the antibiotics and followed up with endodontist. He had to re xray because the ones they took were blurry and it turned out not to be an infection and it was an issue with his mandible. He was referred to an MD oral surgeon for further analysis. Bottom line this place made a huge error and 3800 bucks later for root canal and crown would have been money down the drain but then again could have sued them for malpractice. I'm glad he listened to me and got second opinion, this place better do their homework. read more

**SO UPSET** I went in to have a back tooth extracted cuz the tooth broke and couldn't be saved. I had an X-ray done that showed a cracked root from a front tooth that had been knocked out in an accident when I was young. The root and 1/2 the tooth was still in tact. My fake tooth didn't bother me, I didn't even know it was cracked. It didn't move and I could eat with it. Well my dentist told me I should have the root removed and I would get a "flapper". Well unbeknownst to me this "FLAPPER" is nothing but a junky plastic retainer, the kind you wear as a child!!! Then I was instructed that I need to take this out every night and I couldn't leave it in while I ate. THEN they proceeded to tell me it's 7 THOUSAND DOLLARS to get it fixed to a permanent tooth. Is this their way of making more money off people????!!!! DISGUSTING!!!!! Now everytime I go out to dinner I have to remove my FRONT TOOTH while I eat. I can't smile or even talk because it's so embarrassing!!! I am so disappointed in this place I can't even stand it. SHAME ON THEM!!!!!!!!! If I could give a zero star I would! read more

On August 22, 2022 I had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Jennifer KIM, who had performed a root canal on me a few days earlier. Doctor KIM performed the root canal in an excellent manner. The procedure took about 90 minutes, and there was very little pain throughout the entire process. The appointment on August 22, was to check on the work Dr. KIM performed, and her performance was excellent! In my two sessions with her, Doctor KIM displayed competence, courtesy and care. Doctor KIM - and the entire Gentle Dental team - are excellent dental professionals. If you need a root canal, I wholeheartedly recommend Doctor KIM and the Gentle Dental teams in Quincy and Braintree! read more

Dr. Jradeh is awesome! I grew up going to the same dentist from childhood to age 26, timing my dental appointments with visits to my childhood home in New Jersey. After my first cavities in my early twenties, I developed an intense fear of the dentist; my New Jersey dentist would always chitchat with his assistant while working on me, never paying any attention to how I was doing. He usually didn't numb me up adequately and getting my cavities filled was incredibly painful. After personal issues prevented me from returning home for my regular checkups for about a year and one of my teeth became painful, I came to Gentle Dental at a late stage of the game; I needed a lot of work done. Fortunately, Dr. Jradeh is completely and totally different from my childhood dentist in New Jersey; his attention is 100% focused on me and my comfort level. He never has side chats with his assistants, he coaches, supports, and talks me through the difficult parts, and he is constantly, constantly, asking me how I'm doing, how I'm feeling, if I'm tired, if I'm hurting, etc, and he carefully watches my facial expressions to ensure that I'm not in pain. He explains everything to me and tells me what to expect; he's patient, compassionate, and he truly cares. Good dentist but not happy I was forced into getting a $500 night guard when I could of gotten one from Walmart for $30. The dentist pretty much forced me to get it. So I wont go back to this location cause of this. Lost my trust with them. read more

I started going here 9 years ago after a 9 year dental hiatus from pure fear. These guys are nice and patient with impatient patients. I used to see Dr. Jradeh - 2 root canals, and now, unfortunately, Dr. Shapiro has done 3 more. What can I say? Irish teeth. Anyway, they treat nervous patients kindly, seem to give a damn, and are only judgmental about things that they should be. Sometimes we need some shaming. The prices are fair - although paying for 2 root canals in 1.5 months mostly out of pocket has left me poorer. That's not Gentle Dental's fault. They've worked with me for some coupons. I love my dentist Dr. D'Ambroias at the Braintree office .She has done of dental work on me cosmetic and other not only is her work great she is just a sweetheart. There prices for crowns ect ate much less than a private dentist and her work is impeccable. read more

We were with a more expensive dentist before we moved to Gentle dental in Braintree. Felt alot more at ease here and we were able to voice our concerns more easily and not feel like we were been looked at like we had no idea what we were talking about. I have been using this dental practice for several years. From my first contact with this office my experience has been remarkable! Speaking with the receptionist on the phone is always pleasant and easy. She answers any questions in a warm , accommodating and reassuring manner. Making an appointment is always efficient, fast and convenient. On walking into the office, the environment is clean and comfortable. I am always welcomed with warm smiles and friendly greetings. The staff seems to respect my time because I am always seen within minutes of my scheduled appointment time (sometimes even early!) Whenever I have my teeth cleaned here, the hygienist does a great job! She is professional, highly skilled and kind. In the process of working on my teeth, she never makes me feel bad if I've done a less than perfect job of flossing or brushing. Rather, she explains and communicates clearly and inspires me to improve my home care. The dentist I see is Dr. Shapiro. He is by far the best dentist I have ever had! Over the decades, I have had enough bad experiences with others that finally finding a dentist of this fine caliber is such a relief! Now I actually enjoy going to the dentist! Dr. Shapiro always explains his findings in an understandable way. He then offers several options for treatment and the benefits of each. There is never any pressure to choose a certain treatment. The choice is mine and I understand the best way to proceed under my current circumstances. He is by far the most skilled and gentle dentist I have ever had. He has treated me for cavities, restorations, crowns and a root canal. As he works, he checks in with me often to be sure I am comfortable. Incredibly, I have never experienced pain in his chair! My teeth and bite are more comfortable than they have ever been because he has corrected the less than perfect work of other dentists I've had in the past. Dr. Shapiro also looks to the future of my dental care to let me know what work I may need in the near and distant future. He helps me develop a plan that makes the most sense for me, my health and my circumstances. The care I receive at this dental practice is complete, thorough, and always compassionate. Bad experience. I took it personally receiving a sassy e mail from some Jaime, Office Manager to go somewhere "outside" of Gentle Dental after inquiring a simple question to Dr. Sam Sharmardi concerning a CT Scan. I discovered the 'patient satisfaction' postings in Gentle Dental waiting rooms are a scam. I notice some of the reviews are responded to written to yelp, going to prove that Gentle Dentals' 'patient satisfaction' policy is to hear the good experiences and filter out and discard the negative. The free consult lures patients in and afterwards the staff isn't nice. The quality of the radiographs were bad and the chairside manner of the Dentist was bad. The assistants and back office of Gentle Dental are among the worst I have encountered. read more

I went to Gentle Dental a few weeks ago 3/1/13, to have a tooth extracted. I was told it didn't have to be extracted and that a filling would fix the pain. The filling took over an hour and I was told afterward that it would only be a temporary fix. That I would need either a crown or eventually have to have it extracted anyway. My question is...Why didn't the dentist half way through the procedure tell me this would be the outcome and i certainly would requested the tooth be extracted rather that go through the hour plus procedure of having it filled. Today is 3/18 and i just came back from seeing a different dentist because I have been in pain still even after the filling. I know have an abscess under that tooth and need to go back in a couple of day to have it extracted. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GENTLE DENTAL!! In fact, I wouldn't even bring my pets there for dental work!!!! read more

I have used this service for over a decade. They were good when Jaimie was there but now their customer service skills are very poor. They ignore people while they go for lunch and have other things to do. Once they see you they will sign you in alright for appointments but they fail to prepare the dentist when first they have the initial appointment when they say they can't do anything to save the tooth. Then they make an appointment to extract it, but you have to wait weeks for that without antibiotics or pain relief. Then they x-ray it but make another appointment to work on it. Then they tell you they need to make an impression of the tooth. Then that takes at least 2 to 3 weeks to do the extraction. After the month and four appointments later, they then say your insurance is running low and they will need 1500 dollars from you to extract. They then make the extraction appointment which I changed my entire schedule for and prepared for, but they had to harass me with payment demands right while your in the chair, even despite having 4 days to call you prior to discuss this by phone, even after years of paying their dental service thousands of dollars. UNBELIEVABLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DISRESPECT even to the point when one office manager implied I had not spoken to one of the dental insurance companies when I had and told them the message I had been given. This place is not worth going to and puts immediate money first, even when you have paid all the bills in the past to them. Don't bother with this place. read more

Went to the Braintree Gentle Dental for an exam because I have no dental insurance and needed a crown. I was told if I made 1 payment at the time of the procedure there would be a 5% discount. The price for a porcelain crown is quoted on their mailing as $1047. They charged me slightly more and when I brought this to their attention they said it would be $1047, but no 5% discount. Also, at the time of my cleaning the hygienist said my gums looked bad and recommended I have a scaling done. I believe this was close to $700 and is done in 4 separate appointments. It is now 6 months later and I just went back for a cleaning and was told again that I needed this scaling. I am familiar with this procedure and if I wanted it done I would go to a periodontal specialist, not a hygienist. Her cleaning took all of about 20 minutes. Needless to say, I do not feel as though she did a good and thorough cleaning. When checking out I was charged $98 for the cleaning and when I mentioned to the receptionist that the mailing says a cleaning if $92, she thought a minute and said you had to bring in the mailing. Needless to say, I will be going elsewhere next time. read more

I just wanted to update my review since I wrote it three years ago. I continue to see Dr. Shapiro regularly for my dental exams/fillings when needed. I have never been happier with a dental office! His front office staff are super friendly, helpful and make scheduling appointments a breeze! His assistants are also very friendly and professional. I have continually recommended Dr. Shapiro to my friends and family. They all rave about him and say he's the best dentist, too. In my experience I have found him to be very honest about what treatments are needed/recommended and the prices are very competitive. I know most people hate the dentist, but I actually enjoy going to Gentle Dental of Braintree now!! I have just had one positive experience after another... this office is top notch! :) read more

The staff is friendly and the Dr's and hygienist really take the time to listen to any problems you may have and give you the best solution at an affordable price. I have been going to Gentle Dental for almost 10 years, just because it's close to where I live. In the recent two years, their services started to get worse. Some of the receptionists are not friendly. They often canceled or changed my appointment just 20-30 mins before my actual appointment. Recently, I had a teeth cleaning appointment. When I got to the office, they told me that they just left me a message, since they felt that regular cleaning wouldn't work, so they would need to reschedule me to have a different kind of cleaning. I was driving to there, so I didn't get their message. I told them that they could not just change my appointment like that, especially when the appointment was made months ago. If changes are needed, why didn't they contact me sooner and not just 20 mins ago. Additionally, shouldn't they discuss with me about the type of care I need and want? I decided to stop going there. Hope they will evaluate their service, so they don't lose any more customers. read more
