For the past nine years, I've been a patient at Gentle Dental. During that time, I've moved four times farther north, which now means I drive over an hour just to come to this location even though there are several Gentle Dental offices much closer to me. I still make that drive because this team is truly exceptional. From the moment I walk in, I feel respected, seen, and genuinely cared for. Molly and Val, in particular, are two of the most incredible people I've had the pleasure of knowing over the years. They are the reason I continue to come back. Their warmth, kindness, and professionalism make me feel completely safe and comfortable every single visit. Before coming here, I used to hate going to the dentist. Now, it feels like visiting people I truly enjoy seeing. We catch up, laugh, and somehow a dental appointment turns into something I actually look forward to. Then they said, I needed to wait until the appt month because their charge codes change, Then they said I should get a dental rider, still refusing to give an estimate. This is the best dentist (Daniel Zevallos) I have gone to ever and I am so happy to have discovered this office. I needed emergency work during covid and they were the only one open and after meeting the team there we were hooked. Everyone I know has switched their dental care to here. I posted a picture of my fabulous smile, which looks amazing for a 70 year old without good teeth. I love the staff at the front office, I love the dental assistant, I love Molly's teeth cleaning, but most of all I love Dr. Zevallos! Im writing this as a warning for those considering coming here, these people almost killed my Mother. Two years ago she got recommended for a root canal by I believe the dentist name was Munjeep, after that root canal they proceeded to see my mother for five more visits and max out her insurance with excessive cleanings and other procedures without ever providing a crown on the tooth where the root canal took place. We asked multiple times why there would be no crown given to that tooth and the only response was "oh you just don't need it". Over the next two years my mother had excessive facial swelling to the point where the lengthy list of specialists and doctors could not find where the "bacterial infection" was coming from. This swelling caused blood vessels to burst in her eye, painful swelling through her sinuses, and lengthy prescriptions for everything from steroids to cancer medication to keep her from going full septic. My mother lost her job due to her health as it got to the point where she could not walk for long periods of time, and because of the pressure in her eyes her depth perception gave her extended vertigo. Finally, we discovered a huge mass on her gums where the root canal took place. I'm not a dentist nor a medical professional but apparently when they do a root canal they tie off your nerves so she never felt any pain from her tooth that was never crowned cracking down to the root and creating a massive abscess. We had to pay out of pocket for an oral surgeon to remove the tooth and clean out the abscess before she could make a full recovery. After two years of being told that she had everything from an auto immune disease, to lupus, to cancer, to everything else under the sun she was finally better. At the time I believe the manage here Val stated that they made decisions based on their best guesses and asked when we would like to book her next appointment? That was their only response. Please, do not trust these people, she almost died and the only reason I did not sue them is because I can't afford an attorney. read more

My daughter was dismissed for expressing concern regarding her treatment. She was told by the orthodontist that she didn't know anything and needed to be quiet. My daughter had braces for more than three years at that time die to the pandemic. She was aware of certain standards and simply Asked why the care provider did not follow them. I am certain racism was involved. We gracefully left. The provider maxed out our insurance. I had to pay cash going forward. Our provider in Los Angeles, indicates that whoever was treating her was not at all skilled. In addition, two years later (when they are probably having financial problems die to poor service) they billed me for the contract being cancelled when they cancelled it. Insane. read more

My mom came to this place, to have a full denture made. Within 2 months one of them got cracked in half. She was having hot soup, nothing crunchy. I took her back in to have them send to the lab to have it fixed. They had us fill a lot of paperwork, which was strange. I asked the receptionist if it was still under the warranty since, it haven't been too long. She stated that it was so. It was fixed. Later, the Medicaid send the charges that was paid by them. It was around 347 dollars. I totally disagree with this extra fee. When it should have been done right, in the first place. The dentures are not good quality and won't last that long. I've been coming here for about 2-3 years. Got so many different things done here with lots of different people and it has all been really good experiences. I've gotten my wisdom teeth removal, filling, cleanings and root canals done here. But most importantly, it's good vibes here. The front desk ladies are all so helpful and friendly. I do not recommend this dentist. Came in for a root canal. The first dentist said she could not perform the root canal and I needed to see the specialist. Made an appointment with the specialist and he canceled twice with only a few hours notice. Finally got in to see him and he told me the only way to properly diagnose was to do a cold test. This was after already being diagnosed with needing a root canal. I had also had several X-rays. The procedure area was very small and cluttered. Office staff was really nice and helpful. read more

Dr. Patsy Yip amazes me. Since the opening of Gental Dental March of last year, I have switched to her office for yearly teeth cleanings and check-ups. Acceptable prices without dental insurance do not hurt either; I guess that is where the word "gentle" can be used. Dr. Yip, in every appointment, explains the procedure in layman's terms while she operates. In many cases, she'll even advise on better methods on preventing plaque buildup, flossing, and overall oral care. I always find that I learn new things on every visit. I went there on 02/19/ after a weekend of horrible pain, I explained my situation over the phone, so they knew I need immediate help not an exam only. Not a single smile from front desk. The paperwork I had to fill out was just ridiculous. I would need less pages to apply for 100 K loan. All they focus on is expensive out of pocket orthodontic help and implants. The doctor looked at my X ray and right away suggested an implant, ideally for the whole side. She said she could not extract the tooth because I was schedule for just an exam. The closest day she could see me was March 15. She suggested Tylenol. The front desk offered full exam and orthodontic appointment. I have no clue why since I need urgent extraction. If they really cared, I would do the implant, but since they gave sh.., they lost me forever. The most horrible experience ever, All they about care is money. If you are in pain and need urgent help, do NOT go there. Awful, awful place. read more

I got a root canal from an outside clinic Northwest Dentistry in Covington on 1/23/23 after being referred there by Dr Yip. After the root canal Dr Yip recommended that I do not get a crown afterwards as I needed other things more. They proceeded to max out what my insurance covered for a year with excessive deep cleanings that they stated were necessary. From 1/23/23-7/16/24 I had 3 flare ups of scleritis where alternating halves of my flared up and inflated 3xs it's regular size and I had to take antibiotics and steroids to clear it up. On 7/14/24i discovered a bump on my gums where the root canal was performed. After getting an exam, X-ray, & ct scan, they said that they couldn't see anything wrong but I may need either another root canal, or to pull the tooth that the root canal was originally performed on or they weren't sure. Dr Yip then gave me a lot of conflicting answers that all added up to "I don't know what's happening or what the next best course of treatment is." The one thing I could get Dr Yip to agree on is that "I know that we were supposed to do this crown but I chose to prioritize other things so here we are." I spoke with Val who is the manager here and she said that Dr Yip and the dental surgeon would look at my chart and get back to me however Dr Yip told me that the surgeon would be in until next week? So as of now I am left with nothing but a 10 day antibiotic prescription, a lump on my gums, and no game plan or confidence that the staff here know how to help me or to fix this. read more

Very annoyed and frustrated after my visit to Gentle Dental today. I have been going to Gentle Dental (at various locations) for probably over 8 years now and have loved it. They are very gentle with your teeth and friendly/nice. But after my visit today I am ready to change to somewhere new. I had an appointment scheduled for 9am for a small filling (they said it would be a quick appointment). I was given a printed quote of the price of my procedure when I had set it up about a week ago - price $33. When I arrived today they handed me the quote saying it would be around $80. I told them no and pulled out the price I was given only a week ago. The receptionist said it had been calculated incorrectly and I would need to pay the higher amount today. I was very upset so the receptionist finally said she would double check and call my insurance. Turns out she had calculated it incorrectly and it would in fact only cost me just the 33$. I'm glad I made a fuss about it. To be fair insurance and the medical care system in general is confusing, but it is their job to insure that I do not over pay for a procedure. Once that was figured out I was taken back (about 9:10) and sat in the chair waiting. It wasn't until 9:35 that they started numbing my mouth. By the time my mouth was numb it was around 9:45 and they were ready to start doing the actual filling. All in all the actual filling probably took 10-15 minutes. I was just so annoyed that my "quick" appointment turned into an hour and a half long appointment. I didn't leave until 10:30. Not only that, the Dental Assistant Laura really needs more training. (I hate calling people out like this, especially because she seems nice, but it needs to be said.) Laura took my x-rays at an appointment in July and it took forever, she kept having to re-do the pictures. I thought she was new so I gave her a break and was patient. However, now it is March and she still seems so new and in need of more training. She was trying to place some ring around my tooth before the filling and had to try several times. The dentist finally had to re-do it because it popped out as she was about to start doing the filling. Anyways, everyone at the office is very nice and Dr. Yip is very good at what she does. However, I highly value my time and it really bothers me when I have to wait past my appointment time that I set up in advance. Because of this I will likely be switching to a dentist that better values my time and that is closer/more convenient to my place of work. read more

Of course, cavities only grow despite care, and my Captain Jack Sparrow teeth were coming apart - I had to keep my mouth closed while laughing, but in conversation I'd get embarrassing downward glances from people. I was already taking my 3-year old daughter here because Dr Yip is super gentle and great with kids, so I decided to bite the financial bullet and get a damage estimate. Dr Yip really took the time to lay out my options, answer all my hundred questions, and give her professional recommendations in the same honest, straightforward way I, as a mechanic, give my recommendations on a friend's or family member's car - costs, risks, choices, straight talk. Together we decided on a treatment plan, and then started the design process! I figured we were just going to jackhammer, weld some sheet metal, and call it good, but Dr Yip was the one who really emphasized that I'm going to be doing all this work, I should absolutely be extremely picky, and encouraged me to go online and "shop for a smile". I put forth some ideas, and her communication and feedback were very engaging. Over the next year and multiple visits as we reformatted my face, I really got to know, love, and respect these amazing people. Dr Yip is attentive and caring while working, a master freehand sculptor with the patience of an artist, and makes me feel so comfortable and is so gentle that I've fallen asleep a few times in the chair! Her trusty right hand, Trish, is super friendly and totally on top of her game (telepathic?), I always knew I was in great hands with this dynamic duo! Up at the front desk, Val is sunny, razor sharp, and always on point, she's my trusted case manager! She also took care of my wallet, grouping payments in ways to utilize the no-interest factor of my credit line (doesn't affect them any, just a benefit to me). Dr Z (Daniel Zevallos) is God sent!! I got so lucky to have found him as my dentist. I grew up in India and rarely ever had a routine dental appointments. I changed many dentists and always experienced judgment and it only increased my anxiety visiting a dentist. I would get so scared, I couldn't sleep the nights before the appointment. When I met Dr Z, I needed a LOT of dental procedure/help. He is caring, kind and takes the time to understand you. He is an expert at what he does BUT more so he never judged my teeth, he only helped me. I have never trusted a dentist before and with Dr Z I come in and easily take a nap! He is my doctor for life!!! I am a military spouse and I told my husband the only thing that I would miss when we move is his work. :) read more

I did not have a good experience with the staff at Gentle Dental at Kent Station. I had an insurance requirement I specifically informed the staff about, I needed all of the work done before the end of the year since I had switched my insurance provider. Even after informing the staff about my insurance requirements I received a notice in the mail form my old insurance provider stating that they were denying a claim that had been made from Gentle Dental. I paid the portion I was responsible for and I was notified that the insurance would cover the rest. After speaking with the staff at Gentle Dental about this, they take no responsibility for ignoring my requests or working to insure all my services were being rendered under the coverage I had requested. read more

GREAT EXPERIENCE with Dental Assistant Minoo and Dr. Yip. I was very afraid to go to the dentist and put if off for some years after some bad experiences. Minoo was so friendly and patient; helped me to push through my fears. Dr Yip listened and was very gentle both times I went in. Got the work done on my teeth that was needed, and they did a great job. Thank you Minoo and Dr Yip! I am SO GRATEFUL! SCAM OFFICE I am new to Washington and was looking for a new dentist. I hadn't heard much about this place and saw the reviews seemed to show a great office. First appointment: I booked via phone call which is when I realized this was a franchise. Okay, no problem! They set up a consultation and I showed up to my first appointment. There were two people at the desk helping and I got seen fairly quickly after I finished with my paperwork. The assistant came in first and introduced herself, super friendly and talkative. I hear a male dentist shouting from another room giving her instructions on what to do. She took four x-rays of my mouth which seemed very little compared to every other dentist I've been to. I then waited a while before the dentist walked in. Really nice and friendly. He glances over the films, takes a quick peek in my mouth and immediately starts making a plan. I'm going to need all of my fillings redone (3) and a fourth new one. All on each quadrant. The last I had seen a dentist was a year and a half ago and he said that I only needed to watch one area, but didn't want to drill if it wasn't necessary. Seemed like a lot of change. They also recommended a full scaling and they wanted that and one quadrant done on the same day. Woof. I book the appointment with one of the woman at the desk for the following week. I leave and then realize that I needed to reschedule the appointment for the second week from the first appointment. No problem, I'm in the system, get a confirmation text. Second Appointment: The day before the appointment, I got another confirmation text and a phone call from the main company to confirm. All good. I show up and the woman who had taken my appointment tells me to sit down as she is on the phone with the insurance company of a second patient in the office. That patient seemed a little annoyed this phone call confirming coverage wasn't done before. While still on the phone, the employee asks for my name again and says it will be a moment. Then calls me up by the wrong name and tells me I don't have an appointment. I confirm my name, show the confirmation texts and ask her to look again. Annoyed, she "checks" and states that there is nothing. The other patient says her appointment was also not in the system. Mind you, she is still on the phone with a live person with the insurance company! She then tells me that she can "squeeze me in". I stare at her and said, "wait, for both the cleaning and fillings?" She said yes. I'm flabbergasted. Her tone is not apologetic but rather that she is doing me a favor. I was livid. I politely said, "No thank you. I'd rather not be fit in for an appointment that was made by you, confirmed by you and the parent company to wait around to be 'squeezed in'". Her tone changed as she realized that hundreds of dollars were leaving. I contacted another dentist (who I have since seen, are wonderful, and state they get a lot of business from this particular franchise) and they requested the x-rays. This office told them they didn't take xrays. What?! How would they know I needed all that work done? I then called because I am not scared of advocating for myself. The same woman who had taken the appointment, lost the appointment and was so rude stated they don't have xrays in the system. I told her that was impossible since they took four and that's how a dentist determines what damage is done. She checked the "X-ray system" and confirmed no xrays and stated none were billed to my insurance. The new dentist took ample xrays, walked me through each area and comfortably diagnosed that I didn't need any fillings changed or added and I just needed a cleaning. So, the moral of this long story is: Gentle Dental of Kent is a scam attempting to put patients through non-necessary drilling. The one woman at the desk does not respect patients and I am shocked they have the rating they do on here. read more

Never left a review anywhere before, but I just have to for Gentle dental! I had a toothache for 5 days and my regular dentist couldn't see me for 11 days! I called every dentist around, and only Genial dental In Kent got me in in 2 hours for an exam, and the next day extracted my broken tooth and treated me for an infection. After the Novocain wore off, I was pain free after 6 days of agony! I will now use them as my regular dentist. I am so grateful to their entire staff, who were all so friendly and understanding of my dental treatment anxiety. I can't thank them enough. I highly recommend them! read more

Read the Yelp reviews these reviews are very misleading. This place is a scam. I paid the $84 only to get turned away. They complained about my general health and the way my tonsils look. They told me to bring a doctors note before they will treat me. Nothing is worse than medical personnel who have reached a point of arrogance in which all they can hear is their own voice, and opinion. Especially when they believe that you are stupid enough to not have a clue about the issues you are having with your OWN body. Dr Yip is the best. She's the first dentist that ever took her time to explain to me how to brush and floss. As a result, I moved my whole family to this office. Even my mom who is terrified of going to the dentist, is amazed with her overall experience. She got a teeth pulled but no pain at all and Dr Yip is so attentive and empathetic during the treatment. Dr. Yip and her assistant are so amazing and understanding. I have been seeing Dr. Yip for a few years now and would not go anywhere else. I even waited 24 hours in agony from a toothache just to see her in particular. I was kindly offered to be seen by a different dentist same day but it was my choice to decline and wait for Dr. Yip because she's that amazing. (No offense to her colleagues, but I'm sure they're all wonderful too). Val the receptionist is also great. She was always efficient in finding an appropriate appointment time for me even with my busy schedule. I like open and honest communication. And, it's very important for my dentist to fully explain any future dental work plans she may have in mind when I'm seated in front of her after a teeth cleaning. Dr. Yip does just that. However, I happen to question if some work is necessary. Therefore, it's important for me to have exceptional communication with the front desk folks. As, I heavily rely upon them to be knowledgeable about the future dental plan, my insurance coverage and the billing expectations. Ellen, has done quite well in this area. My confidence in the entire team working together effectively and with the highest integrity is probably the most important aspect of my dental care. I have used Dr. Yip at least since the past five years plus. Up until recently, I haven't really questioned the offices' plan for my dental health. Being a skeptic in the first place, I just have to advise myself to proceed with caution, rely on ex-rays heavily, and myself to have the courage to call my insurer and discuss any plans that seem questionable or even give myself permission to get a second opinion. The more informed I am, the more empowered and in control of my general healthcare and well-being. So, to anyone whose possibly feeling confused about what to do next...go ahead and get your second or even third opinion. This is important to feel confident in making any decision even if you may be questioning two crowns advised back to back in the same year. And, not to mention how costly this treatment plan is. I'm scared of the Dentist in general but I love this place! I have had some dental challenges over the years, but I trust this specific location. They are so gentle and understanding! Molly is the Hygienist I usually see. She is great and talks to you the whole time, nothing is ever a surprise. I met another Hygienst today Kirsten, she's great too. Dr. Zevallos is AMAZING! I have never had such a gentle Dentist. He takes his time and explains everything. He isn't rushed and cares about your dental plan.
