If I could give this practice a negative 10, I would! I don't have any complaints about the front desk reception, as that was the most professional within the whole practice, BUT as far as the back office staff from the X-ray tech to the dentist, it couldn't be more lacking in professionalism!! The X-ray tech must have been new and still training on the job, as she continued to try and do X-rays with the old mouth plates from years past, and proceeded to repeat over and over again, not being able to get proper images. I have a protrusion on the roof of my mouth that I was born with called a torus palatinus; not all that uncommon, and that should have been her first sign that it was going to be more difficult to take X-rays in the manner she continued to try numerous times. It wasn't until I asked her if they had the newer X-ray technique where the X-ray machine circles the head and gets the images that way. WELL, lo and behold they did and I finally got them taken the way they should have from the very beginning. The dentist finally came in to see me following the xrays, and if my intuition was correct, she was tired & exhausted and really didn't want to see another patient. She proceeded to start the exam, DID NOT INTRODUCE herself, poked around for a very short time then told me l needed to see a periodontist. Needless to say, I am seeking a 2nd opinion. I am a retired RN and I was shocked at the lack of professionalism within that office. Hello, I would like to provide my sincere feedback regarding the customer service I received today at 7:30 a.m. I visited your dental clinic due to severe tooth pain from my wisdom tooth. The previous afternoon, I contacted my insurance to inform them of the unbearable pain, swollen gums, and my inability to eat or sleep. I also mentioned that I have a 2-month-old baby whom I am breastfeeding, making it crucial for me to be in good health to care for my child. I then went to the emergency room, but they could not assist with dental issues and advised me to contact my insurance for a dental specialist. I called my insurance again and explained my situation. They eventually referred me to your clinic, Dental Gentle, stating that you accept emergency walk-ins and could help with my wisdom tooth extraction, but I needed to arrive between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. I arrived and explained my situation and that I was sent by my insurance. However, the receptionist who attended me was neither kind nor empathetic. She responded with "it's not gonna happen today" and "we do not accept walk-ins," without offering any assistance or even a simple greeting. She seemed indifferent to my distress and, upon seeing that I was in significant pain and nearly in tears, begrudgingly said, "the only thing I can do is see if someone can attend to you," with a poor attitude. After taking my details, she provided no further information, not even an estimate of how long I might wait. I observed that patients who were already registered were treated with much more kindness. I couldn't help but wonder if my treatment was affected by potential biases, as I am Latina. Additionally, while I stepped out briefly to update my babysitter, I overheard the receptionist discussing my situation with another patient, which I believe is highly unprofessional. Discussions about patients should be kept private, away from others. Despite this, I waited and hoped for a resolution. When I asked the next receptionist for an estimated wait time, she responded dismissively that it could be all day since I had no appointment and had just shown up. Her demeanor was also cold and lacking empathy. I left feeling disheartened that no one showed any empathy or understanding. While I respect that each clinic has its policies, I strongly believe in the importance of empathy and human touch in customer service. I kindly request that you train your staff to better understand and provide quality customer service. I took my dad to a confirmed cleaning this morning. He's 89 years old and very cold and rainy here. But when he walks in to tell them he's arrived he's been told that the hygienist he's"was" scheduled with us no longer working there. I ask them why did I get a confirming text on an appointment that no longer is in their system. They say it's due to a third party company. They also say that they're aware of this issue. O tell them why do you employ them is they're not fixing the issue and that's why they use them? They say nothing. My dad gets another appointment in 6 days. Mind you that most of the time the waitlist for cleaning appointments are at least 6 months out. If they are aware if this "glitches" all they have to do is a search for all of this firmer employees appointments and call each client and reschedule them. But of course they won't do that. They were snippy and rude when I was trying to talk to a new guy there named Brian. Poor guy is so quiet and they just talk over them. DONT GO THERE. Go to their Ashland office like I did. Literally everything about this place sucks! If you go in for a filling, expect it to take 4 hours! They're constantly understaffed and running behind, and doctors just quit. So don't expect consistency of care because you'll have a new dentist next week! Oh, and then they expect you to pay extra because another dentist has to do the work that another dentist started. Dr. Rice and assistant Shannon were consummate professionals while being very understanding and supportive, helping me to be comfortable at all times. Each option was clearly presented in easy to understand terminology. The final product, a bunch of crowns, fit perfectly, feel like they belong and they look great as well. Don't bother with these guys. I called multiple times over a period of 2 weeks and was transferred to a line to confirm my insurance was valid which it is and is easy to check. Every time I was transferred no one answered and I left a clear and careful message and never got a call back from anyone. Worst dental office ever!! And I have been to quite a few shady offices in my life. But this one tops the cake. I have been in constant pain for months now due to a cracked tooth, waiting on an appt. to get it fixed. I go in this morning and the receptionist tells me that my appts. been canceled. She said they called and left a message last week. I never got a call or a message, but I did get a text confirming my appt. the day before. The first time I was at this dentist office, I had a good experience, BUT, the next time I was treated with a rude manner. The rude treatment continues. They have dropped my appointments because of poor excuses, like "we weren't able to confirm your appointment" and my reply was the power was out..you can't hold that against me. "Not our problem" was the reply. The office manager or the head of the staff, is a rude, very rude woman. I went in recently to have a broken wisdom tooth pulled and because I answered their chart notes paper honestly stating that I had a sore throat, they told me they would not be able to see me that day. So I had to reschule my appointment for another day, even though I was in a lot of pain. They didn't care. I had to go to the ER that night because of my sore throat and my tooth pain. I had to get a Rx for an antibiotic. I understand they have rules, and they don't want to get sick, but they need to be nicer and have some compassion. They scheduled my appointment for an ungodly hour and I just had to call and cancel it because I still have a sore throat and figured if I go in they will turn me away again, yet again, because I still have antibiotics I am taking and a sore throat. I really need to change dentists. The dentists are nice and so are the assistants. BUT the office staff is horrible. They need to hire a whole new crew or train the ones they have. Wow. They did not schedule me correctly on my first visit and had to have another visit to get my actual exam done, called and called on that second appointment date and the TWO receptionists don't answer their phones so i can tell them i got stuck in traffic and will be a few minutes late. I live over two hours away and this place is convenient because my company has a terminal in Medford. Even though the TWO receptionists couldn't answer my phone call letting them know i was late they told me i was 13 minutes late so they denied to have me have my exam that should have been done when i first visited. I've been a patient for a couple of years and mostly had positive experiences, but recently I needed to have a crown done and am left feeling very dissatisfied. They did the prep and gave me a temporary crown, which was the same size as my original tooth, and didn't have any pain chewing with. It also fit fine in a dental mouthpiece I wear at night to treat my sleep apnea. When they put the permanent crown on, it was way too big/bulky on the sides, nowhere near the same size as my original tooth (it certainly didn't appear custom made for my mouth). Unlike the temp, it causes pain to chew, and it doesn't fit into my nighttime mouthpiece. Some modifications were made to try to get it to fit into the mouthpiece, but the dentist refused to make it smaller for fear of fracturing the crown - they basically told me they were unwilling to make it any smaller, and that I just needed to get a root canal for the tooth pain. I asked for them to make a smaller crown, like the size the temp was so that it would fit, but they refused. As I understand it, if they can make a temporary crown the perfect size, they can make a permanent the same size without needing excessive modifications that would ruin the structural integrity of the crown. I'm left with a bulky crown with metal showing, unable to chew because of pain (a pain I didn't have with the temp), needing to drive 5 hours away (and 5 back) to see the doctor who made my sleep apnea mouthpiece to have it modified for the bigger crown in order to sleep without tooth pain. They've lost me as a patient. read more

My family and I have been coming here for a few years, the staff is usually friendly and the dentist has a good bedside manner. Im only giving two stars though because the last time I was there, the dentist replaced a filling I had. Since then I've had discomfort when I chew. I went to another dentist who took a picture of the tooth to show me why it's been hurting. The filling was fine, but the dentist had drilled the rest of the tooth to the dentin which is supposed to be covered with enamel. The dentin sends signals to the nerves. The tooth was also roughly filed so now there are grooves in my tooth. I'm reminded every time I eat something because of the pain. read more

Quite possibly the worst customer service I've ever experienced in a medical facility, which is saying a lot since I've been treated at Army facilities the past 6 years. My wife and I had an appointment scheduled, we showed up early as instructed. The older woman at the front desk (seated closest to the front door) is the most rude and obnoxious "customer service professional" (I use this title VERY loosely) that I've had the displeasure of dealing with. We were welcomed by this employee with a cold "Do you need something?" as a greeting while she never bothered to look up from what I'm assuming was a very important game of solitaire on her computer. After telling her that yes we do need something, we have an appointment. She rudely grunted and groaned her way through an appointment book like we were wasting her time. Eventually she found our appointment and informed us that our dentist had a family emergency and they had tried to contact us. I told her that we were never contacted as she rattled off the phone number she had on file. The number was wrong, instead of apologizing for a simple mix up and making it right with an inkling of customer service. She goes on to tell me I must've given them the wrong phone number! The problem with that is their office called me to schedule the appointment! I told her that they obviously put the wrong number in the file and shes just made excuses while still insinuating we were to blame for the mix up. My wife's phone number was also given to the woman who called me to make the appointment and no one bothered to call her either. I understand emergencies come up and I can also understand mistakes being made with phone numbers. While it should never happen that a customer shows up without being notified of a cancellation, I also understand this happens from time to time. The problem is when someones only purpose of employment is customer service and they sit behind their desk with a snarky, rude attitude towards the customer instead of taking accountability for the mistake and fixing the issue. With all of this being said we obviously will never return to this chain store atmosphere that's being passed as a medical facility. We are fortunate enough to have very good insurance through my employer that allows us to go to just about any dental clinic in the valley. Medford also happens to have no shortage of dental clinics available maybe Gentle Dental should keep that in mind while they continue to pay this employee to do nothing but shew away clients. read more

Worst Dental experience in my life. Icalled today; 06/13/2013 and scheduled an appointment for my wife to be seen for her extreme pain on the side of her mouth. I informed the lady i had a coupon for a free exam and xray. then I was transferred to another lady and she immediatly transferred me to Tiffany who is the office manager (so i was told) she said she could get me in. Great, I thought. She said have your wife here at 1:45pm to fill out paperwork and her appt was at 2pm. I thought superb. WE arrived at 1:40 and left at 4:30pm. 4:30PM!!!!!!! My wife was charged $49 for them quirting air in her mouth and asking when it got cold, to apparently test for a tooth being dead. This is ridiculous and as a local business owner in the valley I shall be spreading the news about this new dental place. AVOID IT!!!! The message they are spreading is that if you use a COUPONS THEY WILL make you wait long times. We were there 3 hours. read more

I was lucky to find this dentist office. Even though my income has considerably Decreased since my retirement, my medical and dental benefits ( OHP). Have essentially Stayed the same. I had a $1000 crown put on by Dr. Nima--it lasted one year. when I went back, it is like a revolving door with dentists trying to pay off student loans and part timers. Each dentist is not loyal to the company and they do not take any blame for anything a past dentist has done. They want to get you in a chair and start full xrays (kaching kaching kaching) and sgtart all over with no guarantees that you just spent $1000 a year ago on a crown that did not last. No one will take responsibility or offer any solution except to reach into your wallet as deep as they can The heavyset receptionist also needs an attitude adjustment as she is gruff and rough. when I asked for an apt she was on the phone so I dropped off my card to have her call me when it was convenient. This place should be put out of business. Wishing I could give them less than one star. Unprofessional, rude, and un-educated. My partner had been going to them for more than a year. They gave him a blue implant tooth, took them three tries to get his bridge on, and after they got it on, it still doesn't fit right. Then they told him that he only needed a few more fillings. They put one in then told him that they didn't have time for the last filling they were supposed to give him so they carved out the decay (down to the nerve) put in a temporary filling, then told him they will do it next time with NO charge. When we get there next time they refused to do it unless he had 400 right then. These are only a few frustrating things that happened. We decided to go to another dentist in Ashland. After getting a new exam by them, they said that he actually need more teeth pulled and more fillings whereas GD had said he only need a few fillings. Now we have to get over $3000 to fix the rest of his teeth and we don't even have enough to pay rent or even get to work. Today our new dentist put in his filling that had the temporary filling and said that it was completely unnecessary to carve out the decay and put in a temporary because it exposed the nerve and might cause him trouble here on out. GD is the worst practice we have ever experienced. I wish that we had went to a new dentist sooner. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Went back again for more fillings. My mouth has had many issues due to being hurt by chemo I had. Dr Nima and his team work so well together, makes me laugh and feel good about the plans ahead. They don't back down from a challenge and they communicate every step with you. Which is very appreciated!! I love how the whole office works and talks to each other about your case so they all know what's happening. And they treat you with such respect! I can't say enough good things about this place. When I was uninsured they put me on their in-house discount plan which saved my life. After very recently becoming insured the office manager bent over backwards dealing with my insurance company. Superb service!!! I suffer from anxiety regarding dentists I have since I was a little kid, but Gentle Dental definitely lives up to their name. The receptionists are very sweet and warm and make you feel welcome when you walk in the door. My dental hygienist Heidi went above and beyond her job. After she cleaned my teeth she gave me flossing advice, floss, and complementary toothbrushes. They assured me all of their suggestions about fillings and wisdom tooth extractions were just that, suggestions. And that I am the patient and I'm the one who has the final say in any procedures preformed. I'm definitely recommending gentle dental to everyone I know.
