I've had a very positive experience since establishing care at Jacob O. Layer Family Dentistry. Dr…read more Layer accepts overflow veterans from the VA, which makes a huge difference in helping us get the dental care we need. Since becoming a patient, he has replaced both new and older fillings, making sure everything is properly sealed and done right. I've had issues with previous dental work elsewhere, but Dr. Layer really takes his time and pays attention to detail, which gave me a lot of confidence in his work. The office has a great atmosphere, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend them if you're looking for quality dental care.

Finding the right dentist can be a daunting task. My endeavor, with this review, is to assist with that task. Phone to schedule an appointment 541-734-0970. The following is my dental history: As I approach eight decades, reflecting on the various and certainly numerous dental offices I have encountered over the years, the wonderful changes in dental technology practices and procedures amazes me, it is GREAT. Not being blessed with great teeth, I recall the early days of my visits to the dentist's office. The dreaded dental drills that were dangling by an array of cantilever arms and pulleys that appeared they could double as an aerobatic array for "The Flying Wallendas." A dental drilling assembly that in all probably was being driven by the same mechanical system as the foot-pedal treadle sewing machine in use by my grandmother at the time. Local anesthesia, that the dentist assured you would certainly numb the tooth, was soon followed by the dreaded words "this won't hurt." Dread and horrific piercing pain were my constant companions when visiting the dentist's office. Fortunately, those days are over. The modern drills and anesthetics of today WORK, and a visit to the dentist's office is without the trials and tribulations of the past. Those modern tools in the hands of a seasoned professional like Doctor "Jake" make a visit to his office a pleasant experience. I was referred by my dentist in Washington to whom I was referred by my daughter. Since my arrival in the valley almost 12 years ago Jake has been our family dentist, and when I find a great dentist, I will refer those I know and care about. Jake and his staff have performed just about every dental procedure possible on my teeth, heck I could be the poster boy featured in a dental publication for aftermarket parts and procedures. All kidding aside, Jake and the staff are true professionals, positive, understanding, and they listen. They appreciate that every patient is an individual with differing cares, concerns and a dental history and treat them accordingly. Professional, proficient, personable, and patient oriented. I don't live and die by reviews, but I certainly find them useful when considering and evaluating services and products. I hope this review has been of assistance. Thanks Tom

She is a clear communicator and keeps me informed of anything I need to know as well as answering my questions. Last winter I had to have a cracked rear molar removed. The oral surgeon that worked on me did a superb job. Afterward I had no tenderness at all. That said, the last visit I had with him a few months back was both a bizarre and troubling experience. He basicallly destroyed one of my teeth, leaving a massive ridge across the the back of, that I have since had repaired by an ethical, good dentist. He also refused to do a filling that he insisted needed a crown, something I did not feel good about and have since had filled with no problem- the other dentist didn't even make mention of a crown being a potential option. He spent literally 10 min. in my mouth to do 2 fillings, the epoxy he used did not remotely match (my other tooth looks like a candy corn or something) and the other is the included image (taken by the dentist I saw a month later) I seriously felt he was high on something. AVOID.

We went to Astoria Dental in Grant's Pass and Teri dragged her head around by fish-hooking her finger in my client's cheek. So we didn't go back. We made an appointment at ADC, which was the only other denturist on her insurance, almost 2 hours away. The appointment was at 1:15. We arrived at 12:45, and the door was locked. Eventually a woman came to the door and said "I'm on lunch. Your appointment isn't until 1:15. If you don't want to wait, you can make a new appointment. " WTF‽ We waited, and she unlocked the door at 1. Asked if we had ever been there before,"no but before we go on, is the denturist a petite older woman?" "Yes" " ok, thank you. Please cancel the appointment." "OK, have a good day" * in a snide voice. I wasn't about to subject a person with dementia to that, again. I don't have positive feelings about ICE, but I would make a one time exception for her. Yes, it's that bad.
