Not only do we have a rambunctious 1-year-old Australian Shepherd mix, we also have a cat that we recently learned requires medications 3x a day. Our shy cat, immediately comes out to greet Carol whenever she visits, which he doesn't do for a lot of people. My fur babies love the whole staff! They are always on time, super friendly, and very reasonably priced for wonderful service. Michelle is awesome; she is so good to my two Yorkies. I love they have an online system for scheduling with your pets profile, feeding/walking instructions and make a payment tab. You can pay in advance and receive a discount. They do not charge for additional dogs either it's just the walking fee. They also leave a detailed note with boxes they can check for each pet including: the date and time, where they were when they enter your house, if the pups did their business, and a personalized note. My wife and I contacted Gentle Hearts Pet Sitting before last Christmas to schedule a sitter for the holiday. We were confused when a woman showed up for a meet and greet and told us that she was an office manager and wouldn't be the person taking care of our cats. That's typically what a meet and greet is for. Needing a pet sitter, we rolled with it. When we got home after Christmas I found our living room television had been left on (power, not signal), so I knew someone had been watching it. I was peeved that they were watching TV instead of spending time with my cats, but in the end I figured a little TV was OK. Then I found the new sheets we'd put on our bed before leaving had been rumpled. My wife calmed me down and assured me the bed probably wasn't pristine before we left, so I reluctantly let it go. I changed the sheets immediately though. We were also remiss to find that our more needy cat was very, very skinny. Despite our requests not to do so, attention was paid to the more gregarious cat who doesn't need nearly as much TLC. The sitter failed to report any weight loss which is very troubling. Still, we chalked it up to us being gone for the holidays. We used Gentle Hearts again this past weekend and it will be the FINAL time. I came home to find that our side door that comes into the basement stairwell was WIDE OPEN and the screen door was ajar, large enough for a cat to get through. I specifically remember checking ALL doors before leaving. The cats are constantly using this stairwell to get to their basement litter box. So, for reasons unknown, the pet sitter opened this door and LEFT IT OPEN THE ENTIRE TIME WE WERE GONE. This not only put at risk our curious cats (who, assuredly, left and THANKFULLY came back) but also all of our possessions. I don't post a lot of reviews, but I had to come in and give a HUGE thumbs up to Luke. He took care of my two aging pugs - four sets of eye drops and several other daily meds between them - for 10 days and did an excellent job. When we had a death in the family and had to extend our trip several more days, Luke didn't hesitate to say he could stay with them three more nights. But beyond that, Luke is a good soul. While we were gone, I needed help finding a special poem my grandmother wrote to help me write my eulogy for her. Luke stayed up until the early morning hours searching closets and going through dozens of photo albums until he found it. Then typed up the 2-page poem and emailed it to me. You know a person that cares that much about people is going to take great care of your animals. I owe Luke a huge debt for his help when we were in need. One year ago, I moved here from LA with my 50 lb German Shepard mix who is unpredictable around strangers. Anxious and upset from the move, he had only 4 days to acclimate before I started a full time job away from home. I had used a dog walking company in LA that we had come to like, but over the years my dog had gotten used to one specific dog walker and menacing towards any others. I found Gentle Hearts online and decided to give them a try based on price and positive reviews. Despite a couple successful 'meet and greet' sessions with Luke and then Carol (my dog is more comfortable with women), on my first day of work, my dog growled at Carol and refused to let her in the apartment. This persisted for days, but Carol was determined to make it work. She was super patient, tossing him treats from the door every day. Finally, after four days of this, he finally let her take him out, and they've been buddies ever since! Carol has been super accommodating to my last minute scheduling requests, and is so available I've often wondered if she ever leaves town! When she finally did leave for a week in October, she was super proactive about transitioning my dog to another walker, Lani. After daily 30-min walks M-F for the last year, I have zero complaints. I initially contacted Gentle Hearts based off reviews, so I'm now leaving a review hoping I help another person looking for a dog walker or sitter. I was looking for a dog walker to help me during the day. Luke came over to meet the dogs and as soon as he walked in I knew this was the one. I have a 121 pound Great Pyrenees/German Shepard mix and a 21 pound Boston Terrier. The little one barks a lot and Luke immediately got on the floor to make my Boston more comfortable. That's how I knew. Cheryl walks the dogs during the day and they just love her! She leaves cute notes saying how they dogs did, and she is always accessible. One day I got pulled into too many meetings and couldn't come home at my usual time, so I sent a text to Cheryl seeing if she could walk the dogs for an hour instead of 30 minutes, and she did. Your pets are in good hands. Totally worth it and worry free. Oh, and you can pay online! One last thing to mention. They walk your dogs alone, which is something that I really appreciate. I was very nervous to leave my dogs in the care of someone not in the "circle of trust". Because I was in a jam, I contacted several people that were a referral of a referral. Not ideal. I scheduled a meet and greet with Luke. He was on time and great with my dogs. He brought thorough paperwork about specific care of my dogs. Although I felt nervous about leaving my dogs I didn't have a choice.
