We can't recommend Allison and Kairos Doulas enough! We wanted a doula who would be a partner and…read morecoach, but not someone who would cause friction in the delivery room. Allison came highly recommended by our OB. From our first conversation, she added only positive energy to the birth experience. We first met with Allison in person, and then spoke weekly just prior to our due date. Over that time, Allison helped us to start thinking about what we wanted out of a birth -- natural, to the extent possible. She helped kick our preparation into high gear. We had a long (2+ days) early labor -- and it was wonderful to have a trusted, experienced advisor to guide us. (We had great doctors, but they reasonably don't get involved quite that early.). Allison checked in frequently for status updates and to answer questions. She helped us decide when to call the doctor and go to the hospital. When it turned out that our OB was away for the weekend of our birth, it was especially reassuring to have a familiar face in the room. In the labor and delivery suite, Allison continued to bring her positive energy to the process, suggesting ways to get through contractions. She is also a skilled massage therapist -- which was especially fantastic at this point. And she was completely nonjudgmental about suggesting options for pain management along the way. After the birth of our daughter, Allison continued to check in with resources and advice. We really can't recommend her highly enough, and would be happy to talk to anyone who would like to know more.

She listened to all of our needs and wants in preparation of the birth of our daughter. She also met with my husband and I, checking in frequently prenatally. She always made it a point that she was there at any step of the way. Always offering encouragement. She also offered evidenced based information in preparation for birth. With her support we were able to achieve an unmedicated birth. She offered tips in the delivery room that aided in the birthing process. After birth she checked in with us to she how we were adjusting as a new family. We could not have asked for more!!

This review is is for the doula services and support groups (becoming a mom and breastfeeding)…read more I like that the becoming a mom group has a rotation of doulas who lead the group each week. That way you end up inadvertently meeting the different doulas. We went with Cara. She has a ton of experience and super chill vibe. Our hospital was not allowing extra visitors due to COVID so we signed up for a virtual doula service. She met with us a few times before the birth to review questions, birth plan, and provide support. She was also available via email for random questions that came up in between. The day of my labor I reached out to her as needed and she guided me through some of the decisions we had to make. Her support made it so that I could better advocate for myself and my baby during my labor. She was 100% supportive of all my decisions and in the end I ended up having a beautiful and quick birth. I am so happy we got a doula and recommend it to anyone no matter what type of brith you are planning on having. I found the groups to be more helpful towards the beginning of my pregnancy, especially as it was a time that COVID was just ramping up. The only issue is that the people in group vary from week to week. I think it would be nice to be able to connect with the same group from week to week so there is some continuity.

Becky put my mind at ease from the initial consultation through the birthing process to the postpartum checkup. In particular, Becky brought well-rounded knowledge of current practices and recommendations to the table, all the while remaining supportive of my vision and letting me steer the ship. Becky provided multiple resources prior to labor and delivery that helped me formulate a birth plan and empowered me to take ownership of my birthing experience. She worked seamlessly with my husband and the hospital staff and was such a positive presence throughout my labor. Following birth, our postpartum checkup provided me a wonderful chance to review and process my birth story. While I am happy to report that I achieved a safe VBAC, I am confident that Becky would have been instrumental in me experiencing a peaceful birthing outcome regardless. I highly recommend her services.

We had our baby in April 2020 in the midst of the COVID craziness and actually ended up needing a C-section, so she wasn't with us during the birth due to hospital restrictions. The ladies gave us such a good lesson that we didn't hesitate to call them and get a contract in place for Labor and Delivery and Post Partum support. Best decision ever! From the time they take you on as a client, they were very responsive and support in a truly non-judgy way. Unlike pushy family members and in-laws, they offered all the advice and options you want and they coach you into deciding for yourself what is best for you and your baby. They coached me as well as my husband on the various options (and there are LOTS!) and while they were in the delivery room, they reminded me of what I wanted and prevented the hospital from pushing me around. If you are on the fence about getting a Doula, I highly recommend meeting with them and finding out what they do. They anticipated needs that I needed before I even knew I needed them, and were there to provide them to when WHEN I needed it. They do so much more than you would expect.
