The place is dirty and they don't clean properly between customers. The quality of the haircut is good so if you don't mind it not being clean it's fine. I was there during COVID19 and I asked him if he was going to clean up first and all he did was use a hair dryer on the comb and scissors for a few seconds. read more

I will start the review by admitting I was 8 minutes late to my appointment. Regardless, the shave I received was not worth $30. It was a rough shave that left many cuts and I was bleeding for some time after. Also, there were patches of hair left in various places. I would not recommend this place for a straight razor shave. On their website it says a traditional shave is $25, but I was charged $30, which I wouldn't mind if it was a good and complete shave. read more

I've gone to Gentlemens Quarter by the Frys center at 59th avenue and Beardsley a couple of times now and the best I'll say is it's "ok" My cut was as basic as could be. I'"m not in to the hot towel, or the massage, or the shave above the ear. I just want good cut with attention to details by a person who is friendly and appreciates my business. Mostly, that's what you'll get but the main reason why I'll never go back is their missleading advertising. On their own website, they show a price of $23.00 for mens cut, but they'll charge $26.00. The first time there, they agreed to charge me the lower price stating the owner just hasn't changed the website. The second time, they argued and said the correct price is $26.00 regardless. I think that's called "bait and switch" read more

2 stars for effort, as my fairly simple haircut took 45 minutes. But I wish I would have gotten a warning or a cheaper rate as I could definitely tell that my barber was learning on the job. The barber used the clippers in the wrong direction and wrong angle over and over again, leaving my hair uneven. They tried to correct this with scissors. To their credit, they didn't keep cutting my hair until there was nothing there. I'd rather have uneven hair than no hair. They did not speak English, but only asked the other barber to translate what I said into their native language a few times. So I definitely didn't get the haircut I asked for. But the haircut I did receive was so poor and took so long, I had no faith that they would ever get it right. Just a shame that the place presents itself as a classic barber when it's clearly on the same level as a cost cutters. If you are looking for a legit barber on this part of town, look elsewhere. read more

I have been a customer here just shy of a year and I will say that Stan is the man to see. Came in today to try a new hair style and Stan was not available so I settled with Nora as she was available when I walked in. There is no wonder she was available right away, I showed her a picture of the hairstyle I wanted to go with and she completely went off on her own beaten path. In my opinion, wait for Stan or be upfront if you are not capable of cutting my hair in the desired style requested. I'm sure Stan is great, haven't had a chance to get a haircut from him, but my haircut was fine, although I mostly walked the lady through the haircut myself as for what I wanted. The biggest problem is that I asked for her to trim my beard and trusted her, but after checking and comparing, she completely butchered it and left it very uneven, with a spot that doesn't have close to what is on the other side. Pics are shown as an example. Not planning on asking for a beard trim if I ever come back, sorry. I just noticed the difference this morning at work. I love this place. It helps that it is less than 3 minutes from my house but it's 100000x better that he is a phenomenal barber. I'm from Portland Oregon. A city where tattoos, barbers, and coffee are all expected to be done at 110% + standard. This place is just as excellent as any shop in Portland that I have been to. I definitely recommend this place over any chain. I've been to several barbers since I moved here. But this place tops them all. My hubby raced over here last night after a really bad experience at another barber shop and the owner was fantastic! He not only fixed the other shops botch job but made it look as if it never even happened. He did a great job cleaning up his beard too (he didn't even charge us for the beard since he felt bad that we had actually paid for the first haircut-stand up move!). I absolutely love Stan... I discovered him a few years ago when he was at another shop, and he did such a great job for me that I just stuck with him! Even if the shop is busy and he's slammed he always takes the time to do the cut right, and to listen and care about his customers. I've gone here a few times during the past year and have had a great experience each time. My haircut is very basic, but at this shop they spend a lot more time on the "details" vs. what you will get elsewhere. Compared to going to one of the national haircut chains in the area, I think you will get a far better haircut and overall experience here, for either the same money or less. I've gone on weekday afternoons and there has never been much of a wait at all. The shop is very clean with ample wait seating. read more

This "barbershop," if that's what they want to call it, was worse than the Walmart hair cutters! The guy is rude, overbooked, and complains the entire time you're in the chair. The lady, who is some kind of relative, doesn't know her a$$ from her elbow on how to cut hair. Maybe I should have asked to see her certificate... You pay barbershop prices but, get beauty school dropout service and results. I highly recommend using another barber, I hear 1st choice barbershop is much better and not that far away. I found Gentleman's Quarters from Yelp! of course, and took my husband in one morning for a much needed haircut. The owner, Stan, was super busy on a Saturday morning (weekends are walk in only) but nonetheles, took his time on every client and the wait was comfortable - definitely a fan of that basket of candy! The shop is located near a couple coffee shops as well in a shopping plaza. It's no wonder why Stan is so busy, he does a fantastic job! I have a hard time getting my husband to go to the barber on a regular basis, but think that I finally hit the nail right on the head with Gentleman's Quarters!
