I was connected with Isak, and from the very beginning he was confident that he could do exactly what I was looking for. I came in with a design in mind, and Isak absolutely delivered. He was incredibly skilled, took his time, and paid attention to the details. The design came out even better than I hoped, and he kept enough length on top to give me a really fun, textured style. I walked out feeling AMAZING. But honestly, what made the experience even better was Isak himself. He was warm, personable, confident, and just an all-around wonderful person. When I've don't this to other barbers in the past it usually turns into not the greatest gist, but Nissan took us in and had someone come from the back and start our haircuts right away. It's very hard to find someone that does it proper every single time and have been to quite a few in the area. It's true hair grows back, but after a bad cut, not fast enough. I've been a couple of times and haircuts were decent enough until the trauma of yesterday. I had someone that after cutting everything uneven on the sides and back, after making a mess of my hair on top, I asked him to see if there was something we could do to fix the strange waves he created. He then grabbed a giant handful of hair at the very front of my hairline and took scissors to the base of my scalp with supposedly fade scissors, took one snip and came away with a giant hairball which previously was my mane. Now I look as if I'm balding terrible in one spot. Russell was on the other side of the shop and said he could fix it but don't think he realizes I started the day with a full head of hair and this unqualified individual now has me embarrassed to be seen in public. I read all these great reviews about Russell but I have to question whether the individual I had even had a license as in my half century on this earth, never had such a bad experience and unorthodox style. I'm not particular. I don't mind people thinking I had a bad haircut. Thinking I'm balding is a completely other thing however and I'm afraid to be seen in public. He also during the experience was telling me stories that were inappropriate for professional environments, or pretty much anywhere. read more

Whenever I'm in need of a haircut in Arizona, I make sure to come to 1st Choice Barbershop. Family-owned and operated, been here for years, and always providing the best service and comfort. The hot towels and massages are always a plus. If you have children, or in need of a barbershop that also specializes in cutting children's hair, this is your spot. Just look at the photos others have posted! The salon is pretty small in size, with only five chairs, but it's extremely clean and very well organized. Like any other proper barbershop, each chair is located in it's own station with a large mirror as well as a TV you can watch while getting your cut. Always welcoming, attentive, and kind. As I was waiting in queue, one of the barbers came up next to me and started to play chess with a 12-year-old kid (there are two chess tables for those waiting in queue). I've had one or two good experiences there, but just as many horrible ones. They take "artistic freedom" to the Max and ignore what you ask for. I quite literally had to remind my barber 3 times what I wanted--and he still did it his way. During the cut, the barber mumbled half intelligible questions and get upset when you could not hear him. He also rudely adjusted my head during the session, jerking my neck around. My skin was buzzed twice, and he pinched my hair with clippers. Below you will find what I asked for and what I received. He was the only barber not wearing a mask DURING COVID. Will NOT be returning. Quick edit--when I went back into the store to get a refund, the manager did offer me a free cut.
