    Bigelow Carpet & Duct Cleaning

We found Bigelow through a web search. We had not had our carpet cleaned for the past 16 years. Our…read moreclothes dryer duct had likewise not been cleaned over the same time period. We could not believe the quantity of lint material removed from our long 15 foot dryer duct, enough to fill at least half a bushel basket. Steve thoroughly cleaned the duct and dried it with a powerful blower. Afterwards it took less than half the time to dry a load of washed clothing. Our carpet looked amazingly improved after the cleaning (it was very dirty). However some of the heavily tracked areas still showed soil. We wonder if going over those areas a second time may have made a difference. The owner Steve and his son did all the work themselves, were efficient, courteous and knowledgable. I would recommend them.

First time I have ever used Steve Bigelow for carpet cleaning…read more I was referred to this company by Carpet Galleria. All in all he did a good job on the carpet however there was a substantial soil pattern in the walk area that did not come clean. He is willing to come back out and clean that area a second time but for an extra fee. Carpets do not show soil entirely to a carpet cleaner until they are completely dry. I am from an area with tremendous choices in carpet cleaners. Where I am from prior to moving to the Traverse City area, carpet cleaners will come out within the first week and clean it a second time to see if they can remove the stain at no charge. Not the case with this company, not happy at all. He may be a good carpet cleaner but not good with customer service! Sadly still looking for a good carpet cleaner in the TC area.

Moore Mechanical - Seems like an easy issue for any plumber to diagnose and fix.

I don't usually write reviews, but these folks should be called out. Sorry this is a bit long…read more Contacted them--and one other company--to get a quote for a new furnace, and possibly A/C too. AskEd for a quote that way: just for furnace or for both. Patrick quoted me for both only, so I reached out and reminded him, and had a quote for the two individually within 15 minutes. Prices were less than I expected. And I sensed they were the better call/better furnace brand than the other quote (it was for a Bryant). So before I gave them the thumbs up, I went to their website to look at things like warranty and much to my delight they had an offer posted: get a furnace now and get half off an A/C system in the spring. Awesome! So I called Patrick to confirm and he said "that doesnt apply to your furnace...only a much more expensive system. That was posted incorrectly and they are fixing it". Hmmm, ok I said. So a week later, the offer was still on their site so I called the office (not Patrick) and spoke to Kendra and said "I see this offer on your website and inquiring if it applies to any furnace or just certain ones?" She said she'd Check, put me on hold and quickly came back and said "it applies to any furnace you buy". Ok, thank you I said. So now I'm pissed off. So I called back an hour later and spoke with Holly--who seemed to be really on the ball--and told her my story. She said "that seems odd, let me look into this and I'll get back to you". That was 4 days ago. Needless to say, I wouldn't do business with them now if they gave me the A/C for free. Not sure if I'm going to report them to he AGs Consumer Protection Team or not (I should), but at the very least, people reading this should know. Shame on them.

I've never left a one-star review before, but this experience warrants it…read more A tenant called me about a leak under the kitchen sink of their rental home while I was out of town, so I called Moore Mechanical. I was told there would be a $130 service fee plus repair costs. The next day, the tech left a voicemail saying he had fixed the leak and suggested additional basement plumbing work for $425. I paid $219 total ($130 service fee + $89 labor), thanked him for fixing the leak, and said I'd let him know about the $425 project when I got back and had a chance to see what he was talking about. When I returned to town, my tenant informed me the sink was still leaking. I checked and found the issue immediately: a small cracked drain pipe directly under the sink. It was obvious and easy to see (attached video). I turned on the water and within 15 seconds could feel the water coming from that crack. I replaced the $3 part myself in about 10 minutes, and the problem was resolved. No new plumbing had been installed by the technician, nor any signs of repairs. I contacted Moore Mechanical, shared the video of the cracked pipe, and requested a refund since: * The leak was not fixed by them or properly diagnosed (despite being charged for 40 minutes of the tech's time and him literally telling me he fixed it). * My tenants were told the sink was fixed, so began using it again, causing further mess and inconvenience. * I ultimately had to repair it myself. I really didn't expect any push back on this as I sent them the video showing the cracked pipe under the sink and explained everything to them. Look, mistakes happen. The technician missed the obvious repair despite telling me it was fixed. It seemed obvious and I would have appreciated accountability and a refund. Instead, they said, "we provided the best solution to you (the basement plumbing), and we have to be compensated for our time and services". They continued to insist that the issue was the plumbing in the basement, despite showing them the video of the obvious cracked pipe. And because I chose not to have that basement project done, that was the end of the conversation. The same basement plumbing that has worked fine for 25 years (and still works fine). So now they got me writing one-star reviews on Google for crying out loud. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend Moore Mechanical. It was a lousy (and expensive) experience. They screwed up in the field and then didn't take responsibility for it in the office. Disappointing to say the least.
