BAD Crust... frozen grocery store pizza crust is better. I make pizza at home and we eat pizza out a lot. Cr@p crust and thin sauce was like watery tomatoes juice. Crust had zero flavor. And texture like stale bread. Generous amount of good toppings ,which is sad that it was ruined with bad crust. No other items we home-made (according to the server) on the menu. The fish looked like frozen type. This place was 90% filled with rhe 70 and older crowd. And they didn't have any draft beer...or orange slices for blue moon. If you care about your taste buds, don't go here. read more

Centerville's steakhouse and pizza parlor is a landmark. The pizza is unique, with a rolled crust and sliced cheese. My favorite is the sausage and green olive. The wings are also quite good here - fried in a slightly spicy batter. Steak dinners are well-priced and tasty. Visiting from out of town and we decided to eat at the G&N Pizza and Steakhouse in Centerville, IA. It was a good experience all around, and we settled on pizza to eat, which turned out to be pretty good. The crust is different/unique in that it had an interesting texture and tasted sort of like soda crackers (?). Not enough sauce on the pizza as well, but all in all it tasted pretty good and the beer went well with it. The atmosphere was nice and friendly and service was excellent. read more

We were in my home town for a Pancake Day the next morning and decided to try George & Nick's...and it was a great choice! I called early in the day to attempt to make a reservation for our group of 6 adults and 3 little boys between age 2 and 7 but with the crowds in town, I wasn't surprised when I was told they were only first come, first served that evening. I had mentioned we would try it...she asked how many we'd have and what time we thought we'd be in. So...we were pleasantly surprised when we got there and found a table for 9 with a high chair waiting for us!! From there, it only got better! Even more great service, and full menu with a good beer selection. Food came out quickly and was all really great!! We plan to make this a tradition each year when we return for a weekend of making memories!! read more

The service was good. The hair on my plate was as undesirable as the hamburger patty on my burger. It tasted and appeared to be an extremely cheap frozen all purpose patty. Also, the chicken Parmesan had a ton of water standing in the bottom of the plate. The onion rings tasted like I was eating old cooking oil. The food is extremely overpriced. Consistently good food with a expanding menu based on customer feedback. While the quality has remained high the inability to attract and retain staff has obviously impacted operating hours and to some degree service. Atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. It's been very rewarding to watch this establishment , having established a loyal local following, expand, grow and mature. It is the place to eat in Centerville. read more

We've gone to Nick's for both pizza and steak. Is a solid restaurant for the most part. We were much more satisfied with the pizza than the other items. The service is always friendly if somewhat slow at times. For a small town, this place fills up fast on the weekends. Expect to wait 30 mins to an hour during peak Friday and Saturday night times. But just order the pizza. We were quite happy with it. Oh! And they have a nice little craft beer selection too. I recommend Ruthie from Exhile Brewing Co. read more

Restaurant appearance is very accommodating to what you would think a restaurant pub should look like. Ordered a pizza one time where they accidentally added green peppers to it. We arrived on a Friday night. Very busy. We able to get a seat quickly and ordered. Onion rings came out quickly, were not overly greasy as you might get elsewhere. While on family business in the area, I took Cousin Bill and wife Judith to dinner. They suggested George and Nick's for pizza. We had the George and Nick's special; Italian sausage, bell peppers and onions. It was a good pizza with crisp crust and plenty of toppings. I liked that it was not swimming in sauce and that the crust was fairly thin. I always put crushed red chile on pizza and enjoyed it a lot. The only thing I would do if possible would be to get them to brown the cheese a little. We had a small house salad to open and all in all it was a good local place to eat. If I understood correctly, they are not open for lunch. We were fairly late on a weeknight and just when I was thinking they might be closing and throw us out, more parties came in for pizza. Since we went for pizza I did not pay attention to the steaks, chicken etc that makes for a full menu. It is a nice family run place. read more

This place came highly recommend from Yelp reviews. We called ahead to make sure if we needed a reservation. With two people, they said no problem. We were seated within 5 minutes so no worries there. With the restaurant featuring steak and pizza, a lot of improvements could be made with ambience. Add red and white checkered table clothes, put out candles, dim the lights and add music. It feels more like a diner with all the overhead noise so these suggestions would add a bit of romanticism to the restaurant. Don't serve cocktail sauce as packaged Kraft packets and replace the paper napkins with cloth napkins. We don't need sugar and creamer packets unless coffee is served. The staff was nice enough. They were kind enough to grill my steak a little bit longer - it was served more rare than medium rare. Random thoughts I know but they could really use a bar! read more

Excellent service! Good food. Exceptional decor and cleanliness. Located on the city square in a quaint family town. Our waitress was very helpful, answered our questions, and was attentive. She was so pleasant and smiled through our interactions. My husband had the chopped sirloin, and I ordered the salmon special with a side of barbecue sauce. It added a nice kick to the salmon. Everything was well prepared and delicious. The pizza smelled and looked delicious! Wish we could come back for pizza! We enjoyed the family atmosphere, small town friendliness, and warm welcome. We loved the decor! The original copper ceiling was amazing and looked wonderful with the wide tin trim. A brick sidewalk was painted to match the copper. We have eaten here several times and the food has always been great. Tonight it was also very good. When we ordered our dinners they came with a baked potato. Our waitress asked us if we wanted it loaded. We said yes we did. Thinking there would be a $2 or so up charge. Imagine our surprise when the bill came and we were charged $6.49 a piece $12.98 total for a little bit of cheese and bacon bits on our loaded baked potato's. We are still in shock. We asked our waitress if this is correct and she said yes. We paid the bill and left very disappointed.
