I have been going to see this dentist since November 2016. My teeth are in bad shape and I did not understand why I wasn't the most thorough with my dental hygiene but I made sure I did brush at least once everyday. Now this isn't what they recommend it I needed to do it more often however my teeth were never like this before and I don't eat sugary Foods or drinks. Dr. Charr did something I have never had from a dentist he believed me. He did research to find a probable reason why this happened and he did. Not to get into lots of detail but due to the position I slept in I breathe through my mouth and drool. Because my saliva wasn't protecting my teeth at night and I was breathing through my teeth and this just recently started about a year-and-a-half ago he thinks that is the contributing cause of my current teeth condition. And he's been doing research to help find either a device or a way to prevent this in the future. They have done an amazing job my teeth don't hurt after my procedures and I've had four crowns put on and a root canal as well as feelings. The worst I had were some tender gums and my gum line which is normal. They are polite and accommodating to my schedule this dentist is by far the best and nicest I've ever had. I've also been working hard to maintain proper dental hygiene I brush now 2 to 3 times a day and floss and the best part he noticed my Improvement and he be positive reinforcement for it. I've also never had a dentist do that. Him and his assistant are Beyond nice and I hate going to dentists this place I don't have that feeling. I honestly cannot say enough nice things about this place. I would recommend this dentist office to anyone and everyone even friends and family. read more

My teeth have never been more squeaky clean or white in my entire life! I just had my regularly scheduled cleaning today, and April was the hygienist. I have had many hygienists over my 66 years, but April was absolutely awesome. She used tools I never saw before. Most importantly, she is the first hygienist I have had who did not cause any discomfort at all. I have to add a comment about Dr. Carr. I moved here about 17 months ago and picked him at random. He is the best. He has the latest technology so he can show you very clearly what needs to be done and why. His entire team works to make your visit as pleasant as possible. TC read more

Went to Dr. Carr because of the great Yelp rating. I've never gone to a dentist that required me to have more than one cleaning. I've also never been to a dentist that spent less than 30 minutes on a cleaning, requiring me to finish up and come back another day. Most insurances don't cover that sort of thing (meaning two separate cleanings), so I ended up paying an extra 60 bucks than I should've. For a hygienist that spent less time than she should've focusing on my teeth. They also tried to convince me to get rid of fillings, replace them. My fillings have not been bothering me at all. Something felt kind of funky when Dr. Carr suggested I replace a filling that's one-year-old, get a crown. :/ Oh well. read more

This is based on overall experience. They are thorough. They take every picture imaginable. However, Renee the Hygienist is not gentle. One of the roughest cleanings I have had. Some people like that. Not I. I have never had a Hygienist not want to finish the cleaning on the first visit, but request I return in a month for another. One could reason it's because I had a bad problem. No, for she did the same thing with my spouse. My goal in life is not to spend extra time at the dentist, it's to spend as little time as possible there. I am very meticulous with mouth hygiene and this was unnecessary. Dr. Carr himself was pretty good. I felt he was honest. Seems like a good Doctor. Just wish he'd get more than one Hygienist. Lastly, they like you to sign some strange form at the end of the visit that highlights all the work they recommend you get done. When read carefully, it agrees that the Dr. can perform all those services. I refused to sign. Apparently its policy. To me it was fishy. read more

I really like Dr. Carr - he is outstanding. You can't get a more attentive-to-detail, perfectionist dentist in the valley. Add to that that the facility is nice and his staff is also outstanding: friendly, prompt, warm, skilled. Also, Beverly at the front desk is a pillar there and I'm certain the place wouldn't be the same without her. Back to Dr. Carr - I have been seeing him for several years now and I've always been happy with his work - he fixed a chip in my front tooth that I thought was going to be a nightmare (it looks flawless!); he's done my root canal (seriously was not as bad an experience as I read it would be); he's done 2 crowns that look great; and I've done several teeth whitening with him as well as routine cleaning there. The thing that stands out about Dr. Carr is that he is very methodical and is very much a perfectionist and you can see he trains his staff to be the same way when they are performing a service or just handling office business. I am pretty sure if I had any other major dental work (yay! I just finished my Invisalign yesterday!), I'd be seeing him as my first choice. I recommend him highly. read more

Right before Christmas, about a year ago I hit my tooth when I shot a shotgun and it was about 4pm and Dr Carr's office was the only one who would see me. He was great and so was his staff. I recently got a crown from him this past summer and it looks amazing. Comparing it to the one I received at Southwest Dental is night and day. The one I received at Southwest Dental took 4 tried to get it right as they order it out like an auto part whereas Dr Carr makes it right there at the office. I was stuck with a temporary Crown at Southwest Dental for 4 months. Also Southwest Dental crown looks like a mushroom cap on my tooth. It looks big and bulky and terrible. Dr Carr's you can't even tell I have one. I was treated like a number at Southwest Dental and Dr Carr's office is the complete opposite. My biggest compliment is they are very understanding with me scheduling. I'm on call at work and never know when I can make an appointment and their manager Nancy always tries her hardest to get me in even if it's a days notice. I really like that. I highly recommend this office. I've had nothing but a great experience!! read more

I would discourage anyone looking for a new dentist to go and see George Carr. I went to George's office and after my unthorough exam, I was told that I needed a lot of work done. I decided to seek a second opinion because my diagnosis didn't sit well with me. After getting my second opinion by a licensed dentist, (whom I didn't let know was a second opinion) I went from having 5 cavities that needed to be fixed ASAP, because they were "so bad" to having only 1 cavity that was so small they didn't even numb it. So where did the other 4 cavities go you ask? Well, your guess is as good as mine. The other work I was needing magically disappeared as well. I spoke with my friend who refered me to George in the 1st place and she said that she has had a ton of work done by George and that she now wishes she would have gotten a second opinion before spending thousands of dollars in his office for work that may not have even needed to be done. It's safe to say that she and I, as well as others will no longer be using his services. I wish filing a complaint with the dental board wasn't such a process or that is where my complaint would be going. If you do decide to go to him, just make sure you are in fact needing the work done. And I encourage anyone who has gone to him that he has suggested an extreme amount of work needing to be done, to get a second opinion before letting him touch your teeth. He may not try and take advantage of everyone but I think if he thinks you haven't gone to the dentist a lot or haven't been in a while he tries to put you throught the ringer. The paperwork you fill out before your appointment asks when the last time was that you visitied the dentist, so he knows. I hadn't gone in 2 years because I was without insurance, but before that I had been every 6 months religiously from the time that I grew teeth. Just be careful, all I can do is warn and hope people don't get taken advantage of. As for a third opinion, unfortunatley, as most people know, most insurances only cover 2 cleanings and exams a year. Fortunatley for me, my brother in law is an endodontist so I have him to back up my second opinion. read more

I would recommend Dr. Carr to ANYONE! I was referred to Dr. Carr by a colleague when my previous dentist suggested an aggressive treatment plan that I was not comfortable with. I went to Dr. Carr for a second opinion and now plan to be be his patient for as long as possible! He and his team were very informative, took all the time I needed to explain every detail of my issues and anticipated treatment plan, and were very knowledgeable and honest. The treatment plan he suggested was much less aggressive than my previous dentist; he took all the time I needed to explain things and answer questions. I have now been to Dr. Carr three times to do all the required work. Each of my appointments has started promptly and on time. He works fast, explains everything while in process, and really ensures the patient is not in any discomfort. The rest of his team is also excellent, especially Mauro! I have always hated going to the dentist, but definitely don't mind it as much now thanks to Dr. Carr and his team!! read more

I chose Dr. Carr at the suggestion of my husband. I made the appt. with the usual apprehension. (I had put off finding a dentist until my partial bridge fell out.) What a breath of fresh air. From the conversation on the phone to the day I walked into the office, I was treated by people who seemed to enjoy what they were doing. The hygienist, Christine, managed to take care of me while helping a prospective new hire learn the office procedures. She handled both tasks with grace and good humor. Dr. Carr could not have been more pleasant and professional as he discussed my options --- he too seemed happy and proud of his work. In the office, as I worked with Nancy and interacted with Betty in the front office, all was done pleasantly. I look forward to many years of having my dental work done there. read more

Dr. Carr was my dentist while I lived in AZ. Besides me thinking he was a fantastic dentist back then I am reaffirmed each and every time I visit my new dentist here in Newport Beach, Ca. Besides the routine cleaning and teeth maintenance, Dr. Carr put veneers on 8 on my top teeth. And they were beautiful then. And almost 12 years later, they are just as beautiful. My current dentist and hygienist tell me each and every time I am visiting them (today for example and I moved here 8 years ago) that I have beautiful teeth and that whoever did my veneers did the most beautiful job they have ever seen! The shape, color, margins, and quality are superior. And coming from a dentist who does veneers himself, I would consider that one of the highest compliments another dentist could receive! Dr. Carr misdiagnosed my pain. He performed 2 unnecessary root canals and crowns on me. During the second root canal he gave 8 shots of Novocain which still didn't deaden the pain. He failed to diagnose that the pain was not due to my teeth but rather to a fracture in my jaw which was made worse by the dental procedures. There is a lot more to this but will leave it with the fact that after surgery by a professional, I was told the root canals and crowns that were not necessary in the first place were loose and would have to be replaced. Dr. Carr received full payment from the insurance company with the remainder being paid out of pocket by me. Dr. Carr refused to reimburse me for the unnecessary dental procedures he performed. I found a new dentist who requested my file from Dr. Carr but they claimed I wasn't in their system & they would not share my dental information with the new dentist which seems extremely unprofessional. I tried speaking with Dr. Carr one on one about my issues but he was very smug & refused to acknowledge that he might have actually made a mistake. read more
