This overall experience was awful…read more Parking around this place is a problem. Located on a Main Street near a railroad crossing means traffic congestion. If you're not familiar with the area, you should definitely leave early. I was slightly late due to this very issue. I was greeted warmly, but there seemed to be more questions about insurance. All insurance information had been taken care of. There was a continuous theme: money. They were already charging me for the x-ray but wanted my insurance so they could bill the insurance and reimburse me if the insurance covered it. The problem is, I would never know.......... The staff didn't seem knowledgeable or trustworthy. After paying for the cost of the 3D x-ray, she didn't verify my email address and sent my receipt to the wrong email address. I had to ask for an itemized bill because the receipt was only for the transaction and not what I paid for. The most interesting part, the visit only took 20 minutes total. Oh, and there was nothing wrong. The doctor and nurse practitioner seem fine. The doctor explained the issue but gave me nothing about what he explained. Did I mention, the expensive x-ray, they absolutely needed to diagnose my potential issue, I never saw it. I left feeling ripped off. I will never comeback here..........

Mercedes at the front desk was also incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to get me in on short notice, which I greatly appreciated. Everyone was friendly, efficient, and caring. I highly recommend this office to anyone .

On January 3rd, 2015, I had a root canal performed by Daniel Janowski at 5530 W. Montrose Ave. in…read moreChicago, Illinois. I was surprised to be feeling pain in the tooth in July, 2015, so I returned to see him again July 30th, 2015. He seemed aggravated that I thought it was that tooth and said it was not that tooth, it was probably another. He did not offer to scan it or investigate it any further. I have been dealing with the pain for a very long time thinking this must be normal, this was my first root canal. I finally decided to see another endodontist last week, out of the network, because I needed someone who I could trust, who was a referral from someone I knew. To my shock, the new Endodontist explained that it is that tooth causing the pain. There was an infection from the root and has spread to my sinus and has destroyed the bone. I understand that this happens and that they sometimes Endodontists do not get all the pulp out and this can be the result; however, to be dismissed in 2015 from Daniel Janowski, without further investigation caused it to get to the point that now it requires a Apicoectomy. When I called Daniel Janowski about this, it took him a week to return my call. I called him four times during that week. I explained the timeline and what occurred. He asked what I wanted him to do about it and I explained that he should probably cover the costs since this was a result of his decision making. He chose to hang up on me instead of trying to resolve this or explain how this could have happened. I have never met a more unprofessional person in the dental industry. I realize that this is not worth an attorney taking a case like this; however, I feel the public should know. Thank you.

I had to wait almost an hour past my appointment time, but the doctor himself came out and apologized and explained he ran into some trouble with the current patient and assured me that if I needed extra time and attention he would show me the same courtesy. Wow! Well, that's all he had to say. Of course if I was the one in the chair I would hope he wouldn't rush through just to get to the next patient. When it was my turn, he began commenting on what gorgeous long roots I have and how that means good things and blah blah blah and I might have more pain after. Okay, that's weird, but I love it when people love their profession so much they get geeky about it. He gave me various pills and instructions and I left. It was a Saturday afternoon. About two hours later I was in tears, and I decided to call just in case this wasn't normal, because it wasn't really what he described would happen. No answer so I left a voicemail. He immediately called back to say he was actually leaving for the day when he heard the phone ring so he checked the message and called back! Truly a stand up teeth man. He explained that the pain was due to the long roots tangling with my sinuses and gave further instructions to help the pain and symptoms to watch out for. I was fine by the next day. I felt he was extremely competent, professional, and helpful. I hope I don't have to go back, but I'll know I'm in good hands if I do.

First of all, I did not like the Dr Peneses arrogance. He suggested it was the fault of my dentist…read morethat performed my root canal that I now had an infection in my gum. Even if it was, which it is not, it was very unprofessional. Root canals don't always last forever. Sometimes an infection can develop many years later, in which case you will need an apicoectomy. Next, I do not agree with how this office handles their billing. I had my surgery in March 2026. The office said before they would even schedule my surgery, they need the insurance estimate. This seemed a little off to me since I was already told by Dr Peneses that my insurance would be maxed out after the root canal, and also are you telling me you won't perform this very important surgery if the insurance doesn't pay? They had submitted an estimate to the insurance company prior to the surgery and were waiting for it to be returned before they would schedule my surgery. I did get a call back from the office stating that they had received the estimate back from the insurance company and now I could go ahead and schedule my appointment. They informed me that the insurance was going to pay X amount and that I also had a credit with them from my previous root canal surgery with them. I was informed of what the final amount that I would owe would be. I was thrilled because I knew I had enough money in my FSA to cover the remainder. Fast forward to June 2026 & I see that the money for the apioectomy had not been deducted from my FSA. I called the office to ask why & was told that they had not submitted the bill yet and the girl that does the billing was already gone for the day, so they would have her call me back tomorrow. The billing person called me back approximately 2 weeks later to let me know when they would submit the bill. JUNE 2026 & THE BILL WAS NOT SUBMITTED TO INSURANCE YET?! The surgery was done 3/30/26! Now, today, 8/4/26, I was informed that the insurance didn't pay anything because my benefit was maxed out with the previous root canal, and my final amount owed is $2,120.33. That is VERY different from what was quoted to me in March. I understand the insurance maxed out on the root canal & the office has no control over that. My complaints are: 1. Why would you tell someone a quote very different from what you actually charge them? 2. Why would you wait so long to submit a bill to the insurance company? And 3. Why would you not advise a patient from the beginning that the final amount owed is just an estimate and you may actually owe more? Idk but this seems shady to me.

This work by both Dr and assistant made my first root canal experience a success. I would recommend this Dr specifically as he was thorough, kind and informative.
