Hand Therapy of Rockland in New City has been amazing! They're also very accommodating about scheduling and making things work. I was not seen until 3:30. Also, to make matters worse, the girl next to me in the waiting room was apparently scheduled for 2:30. I would have hoped to have more than 10 minutes with the doctor since it was my first appointment. In talking to this girl a bit, she said she waited THREE HOURS for her first appointment. The office itself is little dingy looking - there are lots of plants but they're all dying or dead. The carpet was dirty, but I found out that they're getting new carpet this week. The doctors were meeting with website logo designers and such in between patients - literally running back and forth to discuss the changes in the building's design/logo while patients were waiting right in front of them. As far as the doctor himself, I really can't comment much because after waiting over an hour and paying a $25 copay, he told me to just "give it time." He came highly recommended by others, though, so I guess if he actually has to treat you he's good. Can't speak from experience. Also - they have a very nice website and even have an online appointment scheduler. Unfortunately, it does not sync up with their offices, so it's basically useless.

I do not appreciate the way I am treated by the office staff here and when I had to wait for two and a half hours at my first appointment, I was spoken to rudely when I asked why I had been waiting for over an hour. I have never waited so long for any appointment or been treated so poorly at any other kind of practice in my entire life. **I ended up waiting nearly an hour and forty five minutes this time. Dr. Ilan was great a and extremely helpful, and also very apologetic when he heard I had waited so long and was not treated very well. I found out that my long wait did not have to do with a delay, but most likely an issue with the office staff who did not check me in properly because appointments after mine were seen at their scheduled times. I was pleased with my appointment, but my treatment by the women working at the front desk are enough to make me never want to return.

Instead what occurred was a visit with Dr. Maisel downplaying the severity of the situation and denying what the surgeon had confirmed to us this morning (torn retina). Not only were my mother HIPPA rights violated (as she never authorized in writing or verbally - for her previous surgeon to divulge details about her care to Dr. Maisel) but Dr. Maisel "conclusion/diagnosis" was illusive confusing and contradictory.
