The Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1975 to safeguard the endangered Mississippi sandhill crane and its unique disappearing wet pine savanna habitat. The refuge consists of more than 19,000 acres in four units and is now part of the Gulf Coast National Wildlife Refuge Complex. The visitor center was closed when we arrived so we were unable to get a physical stamp but reached out and they mailed us one. At a National Wildlife Refuge, you can primarily engage in outdoor activities like birdwatching, wildlife photography, hiking, fishing, hunting (depending on regulations), and nature viewing while respecting the primary purpose of the refuge which is to conserve and protect wildlife and their habitats; many refuges also offer environmental education programs and guided tour possibilities are endless. Would know more if the visitor center was open so we took in the day and enjoyed watching the birds on this stop.

They have a small parking lot in the back or you can park along the side of the street. This park has swings, slides, monkey bars and even a zipline to keep your children occupied. They have a covered pavillion with 2 BBQ grills which is excellent for a birthday party. I recommend you get there early because this park fills up quick! Theres plenty of natural shade from all the trees and they even have a restroom for you to use. Theres plenty of grass space for you to sit down and have a picnic as well. Theres random benches around the park and they even have some rocking swings. They have a xylophone to play and also drums for your musician talented kids. They have tons of swings and also swings for toddlers who cant hold on the chains. They even have a swing where you and your child can swing at the same time! There is no pets allowed so please leave your fury friends at home. This park is also very close to the beach as well so why not pack your bags on a lovely day out of the week and go enjoy a picnic here and after that go to the beach. There are several pavilions, a children's play area, and more. I enjoyed just walking this park and along the pier just across the street. I also noticed that they had a lot of metal arch-type structures just before the pavilions that stated "PAVILIONS" throughout the property. I was talking to a client about it the next day, and he told me the shipping yard donated them to the community. This made sense to me. Pascagoula has a huge shipping manufacturer in their town. Obviously, this park was pretty popular to the community. The place had a lot of people just hanging out and enjoying being alive in the moment. Everything from a family enjoying the evening and a pizza, to joggers and dogwalkers to teenagers just hanging out were taking advantage of Pascagoula Beach Park. If business returns me to Pascagoula, Mississippi again, I would definitely return here. If life in general finds you in Pascagoula, Mississippi, I would recommend that you come check this cool place out. I will give it five stars.

Very popular with locals. Public Restrooms consist of a trailer, very clean but not handicap accessible. Very clean, no pet droppings or litter. Pet waste bags and stations throughout. One part of park with boat launch and docks face the water near the shipyard, the other side of the park leads directly onto the beach. Beach has a picnic area with four BBQ grills. Lots of people walking/ walking digs/jogging. Park is along Beach Blvd only 1.6 mile walk/ drive from another park, Pascagoula Beach Park.

Since I have left the 9-5 grind, semi-retired, sold my house and hit the road with my husband, respectfully retired about 3 years ago, we have learned a few things about full time RV living vs. camping. At this time we are at a lovely adult leaning Sioux Bayou RV Park which sports a cute little beer bar called the Hideaway. The management and staff could not be more accommodating. It is very basic...very natural, located on the Sioux Bayou. The butterflies, dragon flies, birds of all types adorn this simple RV park into a perfect paradise. There are alligators, we named our buddy Gary the Gator. Never feed the Gators! There are bald Eagle flying overhead. There are migratory patterns that allow a rare look at birds you only see while migration. The moon and stars decorate the night. If you find good people, beautiful views and natural experiences a good life, you will enjoy pulling up and relaxing.

But the park is here now and it's well maintained. A smooth concrete path through the center that leads to a large gazebo. Several benches throughout. The park is also bordered on the railroad side by a split rail fence. I would guess that there is music in the park on weekends. Perhaps Jazz Sunday and a farmer's market?
