When I was finally seen, the experience didn't improve much. The nurse practitioner seemed genuinely confused about my medication allergies. Even after I clearly explained my reactions and history, she still appeared unsure and kind of just blanked out instead of addressing it confidently. That was honestly the most concerning part, because I didn't feel safe or reassured discussing my health. Overall, the experience felt disorganized, uncomfortable, and lacking in clear communication. I understand that mistakes happen, but in a healthcare setting, especially when discussing allergies and medical history, there needs to be more confidence, clarity, and professionalism. I have always found Dr. Little to be an exceptionally competent diagnostician who is also a consummate professional. When circumstances required he has gone the extra mile to accommodate me, including once meeting me at his office at 2:00 am and on more than one occasion visiting me at home and, when appropriate, bringing me very helpful medications. Dr. Little has never hesitated to recommend me to a specialist when he thought it was in my best interests to have that added expertise. I have dealt with some gut-wrenching conditions which required the work of out-of-town, world-renowned surgeons, but I always drew comfort from knowing that back in Kalamazoo I had a primary care physician who always had my back and was there to deal with post surgical problems, including chronic pain.
