If you are around the New Brunswick area and are into film, you need to come to George Street Camera. This is a small mom-and-pop shop that has the best customer service with an amazing staff. I might be biased because I have been coming here for a bit, but they're truly the best. The inside has so much character, with Polaroids of friends, family, and customers lining the store, plus lenses, cameras, and film available to shop. They also do custom framing inside, or you can buy the frames they have up on the shelves. I dropped off my film and within two weeks I was getting a call that it was ready--it was super fast and all my pictures turned out great and not super expensive. I also love that you can ask them any questions regarding cameras, how to use them, or if you're just curious, and they are always ready to help out. 10/10 recommend supporting them instead of going to a chain read more

I love this place; the staff is so kind and helpful. I inherited a Minolta SRT-201 from my great-aunt and had no idea how to use it. They were happy to teach me the basics (shooting, adding film, removing film, etc), which they have had to do a few times since I keep forgetting. They are so patient. Amazing local camera shop. Old time style store that still has FILM for sale and they develop it too. I brought in my post WWII Leica camera for a checkup. Greg, the owner, was able to quickly determine what was working and what needed some work (the shutter wasn't accurate at slow speeds). He also was able to determine the exact model number. How in the world anyone gave his place less than 5 stars is beyond me. I went in because my lens was stuck. They were the only ones who could fix my fancy Nikon. Best Buy wouldn't even touch it. Never again. I had a broken Sony lens that I took to get fixed (the ring connecting to the body had loosened), I took it to them in February. What was originally a 2 week repair took 3 months to repair. Each time I called it was the same "it's on the truck headed back, should be 2 weeks" until it was finally repaired at the end of April. If I knew it would take that long I would have taken it elsewhere as I had a slew of video shoots I was anticipating using this lens due to their initially estimate. read more

This is my first review of any business. I was really disappointed in my experience. I just got three rolls of film developed and digitally scanned. Firstly it took 6 days for it to be ready, which I think is a while. Ive gone to other mom and pop Photo stores, and it usually takes 3 days, at the longest. But what really bummed me out was the streakiness of the digital scan. I'm pretty sure that means that they need a new scanner. I can barely use some of the images that they processed. The streaks affected different pictures in the three rolls of film. And receiving this product wasn't cheap! It cost me 40 dollars! I feel scammed. I've paid way less for the same service at other places, and I didn't have to fix anything in photoshop or rescan the negatives. Pretty sure this isn't my doing because I've been shooting with the same camera for the last 5 years, and never had this issue! UPDATE: After trying to scan the negatives myself I realized that they are completely scratched. Very devastating, as I've spent 40 dollars to completely loose 3 rolls of film. read more

The owner and employees are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Very helpful, and just good people to chat with. Easiest and fastest passport pics I've ever got done. Plus they do old school film developing and framing. Locally owned businesses really add a great vibe to a city; the nice feel you get when you interact with a local shop. Wow. This place has the most horrendous service i have ever experienced at a small business. The one reason anyone would even go to a business like this is to get great customer service and to have questions answered about the different products. Nope. Tried to return something that clearly didn't work, got told that "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" even though this isn't actually the stores policy. Thanks to Danny and "Francois" the two sales clerks, I'm stuck with store credit at a store with nothing to buy. This is like being given monopoly money, useless. Poor customer service - overpriced products.

Purchased a camera here, on the word of my photography professor that they knew exactly what we needed for the class. Greg was quick to push one on me, insisting that it matched all of my requirements. Afterwards, I discovered two problems: 1) the lens is different than what I asked for, and 2) this exact camera and lens reliably cost half as much or less on Amazon and other online retailers. I originally left the store thinking I had received friendly and helpful service, but now I feel that he took advantage of me. read more

I still shoot that crazy medium known as "film," which leaves only a few choices for processing. Thankfully, Greg does just that-And does an amazing job of it! His knowledge is second-to-none, and after being thoroughly rooked on a camera I bought on an online auction, he had it fixed to perform flawlessly-Which it hasn't lost a beat in many years of hard usage since the repair. after one product purchase, one repair, a few supplies purchaes and about half a dozen custom framing jobs i'm very happy to make this my go-to when i need shit done right, and/or to speak to someone who actually knows photography. always courteous and competent, always call back when they say they will. they even gave my kid a pretty lengthy tutorial on how to use her new (to her) SLR camera. i can't give much insight on price comparison, but i can say i've never been upsold or pressured to buy more than i need, everyone is very laid back. with respect to the framing, it costs marginally more here than a big box craft store, but way less than an art/framing gallery. and the job is done perfectly, uv protection film never blistered or peeled, matting stays firmly in place year after year, holding up to being packed and moved several times. when i have a picture i really care about, i get it framed here. read more
