It was time to go back to the eye, doctors..aahh sigh. The joys of getting older. This little eyeglasses doctor and shop is located in the shoprite at mid state mall in east brunswick 2 steps away from a dunkin. The doctor was pleasant and efficient. Didn't talk down to me. I had my prescription in minutes. I picked out my lenses by the helpful young kid named Danal(sp). His mom and him basically run the glasses portion of the shop. They are courteous and most helpful at helping you pick the right frames for your face. Within a week, I had my new glasses. They made sure they fit right and their were no problems. It's definitely a great place if you're in the market for new glasses and an eye exam. So you can get an eye exam,pick out your glasses, grab a dunkin' if that's your thing, and do your grocery shopping all in one swoop. They take most insurances and are cost effective. This is a follow-up to my review from 2018. Optical Image still gets 5-stars!! Since our first visit 5 years ago, we've replaced/updated our glasses at least twice. Vesta continues to give us outstanding service. She takes the time and puts in the effort to make sure we are satisfied. When I was having trouble focusing on my computer screen with my progressive lenses Vesta suggested she make an "old school" bifocal so I could have a mid-range and reading lens. (side note: I worked form home during the pandemic so the focus on my screen was different from the office) She helped us found a simple frame that looked good and would work for the bifocals. They were perfect! And now, Vesta's son is working there, too, and he is just as easy and pleasant to work with. All we can say is "keep up the good work! we truly appreciate it!" read more

My family has been going to Optical Image for YEARS, and for good reason. Even when I moved up north to Morristown, I refused to go anywhere else, and always made time to make the trip. It's that worth it. Vesta has been nothing but kind, professional, and genuine throughout the years. I've never left her store feeling anything less than beautiful and satisfied. She has such an eye for design, her choices for eyeglasses have always gotten me compliments! From the moment you step inside, she makes you feel so welcome. She listens to your concerns and desires, giving you the time and attention you need to feel and be your best self. I'm not sure how she does it, but even with multiple clients in the store, she finds a way to make me feel appreciated, personally accommodated, and never rushed. The store and office is well kept, clean, and doctors are clearly knowledgeable about any and all concerns, issues, and questions. The doctors who work there are kind, professional, and take the time to listen to all of your concerns, ensuring you're comfort throughout the entire examination process. The selection they have is something I have yet to see from other places. The styles, and colors are so unique, places like LensCrafters just doesn't compare. Always up to date with the latest trends too, which is pretty rare as well I'd say. Overall, I'd recommend Optical Image to anyone who wants a 5-star customer experience, and it's all thanks to Vesta. If anything, go just for her. Trust me. I moved back to the area from NYC, working in the fashion industry. I can't count how many boutiques I've browsed trying to search for unique designer frames, which I did quite often because I've been investing in a collection for some time now... Without fail, I either ended up with sub-par sales associates (which is an automatic dealbreaker for me), or a poor selection of products... Ironically it was only when I moved back to Central Jersey that I finally found what I was looking for! Not even looking for an optical shop intentionally! I was grocery shopping haha. Here is where I met Vesta, the ideal model of what I believe all people in sales should be and all around awesome person. She always takes her time and seems to never end the encounter until she did all she could to help. And always keeps up with her knowledge of fashion trends. But the most important gesture of kindness was placed an urgent rush order on my Saint Laurent frames (completely custom order) so I could get them the very day before lockdown started. I would've been blind for possibly a very long time without her help that day because I only had a few pairs of contacts left and the rest of my frames were still in NY. A couple of years ago, I was grocery shopping and came across Optical Image inside the supermarket in East Brunswick. I browsed the selection of frames, did not buy anything at the time, but I when the time came for me to purchase new prescription eyeglasses, I remembered how nicely my interaction was with the folks at Optical Image, so I went back. I brought in a prescription, selected frames I liked, the fit was great, the service was great, I was happy. I went back to get prescription sunglasses; the tint of the lenses came out just how wanted them. Recently, my elderly parent broke her glasses, so I thought of Optical Image. I brought in a broken frame of eyeglasses. Based on the frame size and bifocal prescription of the lenses a frame was suggested; when it was all said in done, even without meeting my parent, the fit of the frame and the lenses prescription came out just right. My experience with Optical Image has been very good and would certainly recommend them to anyone who is shopping for eyeglasses. read more

What I appreciate about this store is how incredibly, and unexpectedly nice the service is. I had my eye exam, and then stayed to look for a pair of frames afterwards. Vesta was friendly, attentive and very helpful when it came to helping me pick a pair out, and I was pleased to find some of the newer and more contemp trends available at a very reasonable price. I had never had an eye exam prior to coming to Optical Image. nor did I make an apt to have one there, but Vesta gladly had me see the Doctor who was very informative and incredibly quick. The longest part of the process was picking out frames because they have such a vast selection! The entire staff is friendly, helpful, and detailed. Additionally...whenever I pass by, I notice the younger gentleman cleaning the frames, the shelves, etc., making sure everything is clean and orderly - which is always a plus!! read more

Went to do some grocery shopping at Shoprite and passed by this store inside. My biggest problem with my previous glasses has been that they never quite look right on my face but luckily the lady in the front had an eye for this and helped me pick out the right ones. I've been getting nonstop compliments about my glasses this past week so I'm reallly happy that I stumbled upon this place. Definitely coming back for my next pair! I have always had an excellent experience at this office. The doctor was very knowledgeable, not sure what the other poster is referring to. I had two horse-shoe tears in my retina that the doctor discovered (they were in an inconvenient spot to see, but thanks to his thorough examine he discovered them) and likely saved my vision. I am young and most doctors wouldn't expect to discover a problem like that, but he was diligent and thank goodness he was! They are always polite and courteous and accomadating. I have purchased two glasses from here and both were perfect, I used them for years. Highly recommend! read more

DO NOT GO THERE .. Went to pick out a pair of glasses after speaking to my insurance they told me I was covered for $100 allowance off my frames and free lenses. the lady at the store told me that my insurance only covers $50 off the frames and $50 on the lenses which is complete nonsense she was trying to double bill me !! Easy to schedule an appointment however it was a waste of my time because the doctor had no idea what he was doing. Seemed very inexperienced and uneducated. Asked me simple questions that he should definitely know the answer to upon examination. He eventually ended the appointment and told me to reschedule for 2 weeks. read more

The worst pair of progressives I ever had. They made a reading part too small so to read anything I have to kind of have the glasses sitting crooked on my nose. Also, my insurance is pretty good and pays $130 for the frame and 60 for the lenses. The lady was trying to overcharge me for a mediocre CK frame $200 claiming that the frame costs $400 and I am getting a discount. Go some place that will give you a better prescription and won't rip you off on the frame. read more

I was looking through the different selection of sunglasses they had on display when Vesta (the owner?) asked if I needed help. I have a long facial structure not made for sunglasses so it wasn't an easy task.. But she was really helpful and I was able to find the perfect pair. They are priced reasonable but which fools the customers. I had to go back and forth several times because the frames were cheap and my brother had his prescription done incorrect. You waste more time arguing and get frustrated not to mention wasting your time. read more
