George was my son's barber for almost a year & we had great rapport I took my son faithfully, every 2 weeks.Never had an issue. I always tipped and was never late. When I book- I typically book 3-4 appts at a time, because I'm a faithful customer. When I went to book with him- I was blocked. I honestly thought there was a problem with the app-so I texted him. He stated that if I was late- the app blocks me from scheduling (which isn't true - you would have to manually block a customer) I honestly thought he had me confused with another customer-'so I sent him a picture of my son to jog his memory. This man kept me blocked! He has the right to not want someone as a client- but damn! He could've communicated if there was an issue. He could use a lesson on how to treat his customers. read more

Haven't cut my hair for a good 1 month so I can have some hair to work with. Came in asking for a low drop fade number 1 and a slight trim textured on the top. Should've known better when the barber is showing off his multi-tasking skill of the "phone shoulder" lean while asking for what I want. Homeboy went straight up, then continue to just chop off everything. The Masterpiece is a pineapple tree, rounded head and where's the fade at? 10$ is 10$ I guess. I didn't want to judge and gave this place a try anyway. Came home with a new hat for the month and a few cuts. Still tipped 10$ cuz everybody gotta eat. Just be a little more professional next time and if you can't cut something just be up front. Maybe George is the only go-to here. Just got my sons haircut here this morning. For a weekday at 11am I was surprised to walk in and see about 5 people cutting and 3 customers waiting. We didn't have to wait long at all. Although the guy giving my son a cut was not very warm and personable, he gave a good haircut! I used to be a regular at George's for the past 4 years and had no issues before. However, in the recent past year, George has raised the price of a haircut/fade from $15 to $35. One time I came and was surprised it was raised to $25 from $15, and my brother who goes there as well told me the other day they raised it to $35!! He was a regular as well and decided not to get cut there. When I asked George the reason of the price raises he told me it was due to the purchase of new supplies. Really? We're in a pandemic, less customers, less money, and yet George thought it was a smart idea to buy more new supplies and RAISE the prices for his customers. I got to admit that was a stupid idea due on his part. Or he could he making up reasons to account for jacking up his prices. I'm going to find a new barber that doesn't charge an arm and leg and doesn't lie. I don't trust George nor his employees. They are too shady for me. read more

George's Fade has been my trusted barber since 2015 but not anymore. I waited almost an hour to get a cut by George himself. I asked him to do what I've asked them to do for years: a #1 to #2 fade. I guess the correct phrase is " #2 mid fade", but they've always gotten the idea. He gives me a #2 low fade. He spends 5 minutes trimming my hair then asks me if it's too long, and I say "yes it is, can you actually make it #1" and he proceeds to get mad and flame me in front of everyone in the barbershop. He says I'm making him do 2 haircuts and wasting his time, as he has others waiting (just two people) and it's almost closing time (not for another 1.5 hours). I apologize and tell him I thought #2 was shorter, but he keeps it up and continues flaming me, saying stuff to his coworkers in a different language. I felt quite embarrassed and uncomfortable. I kept apologizing but he kept doing it. For the rest of my cut he shifts between angrily flaming me then calmly asking me if my cut is fine, and I'm too scared to object at this point. I came to get a cut, not sit and get berated after a long day and an hour-long wait. I gave him a $10 tip as I knew he was tired and had a long day too, but when I went home and looked in the mirror my cut was not complete and I had to fix it. I paid $20 plus a tip to get berated, embarrassed, and not get a complete haircut. Ruined my day. Not professional behavior at all, especially from the business owner himself. Came here for an emergency haircut on a Saturday evening. When I arrived, there were about 5 people waiting on barbers, but they moved quickly. Next thing you know, a barber is calling me up for a cut. Having never been here before, I saw a particular type of fade I wanted on the number board and pointed it out to him. (Unfortunately I didn't catch his name.) Within 20 minutes he was done, I was out of the chair with an excellent haircut, and it only cost me $10. Cash only. By the way, if you drive here, be absolute sure to feed the meter. While I was waiting, everyone saw the parking enforcement person starting to write tickets. 4 of the people ran out to move their cars, but unfortunately one was too late and got a ticket. read more

I've been going to George's for over a year with my boys, but lately they've been messing up. They cut my one sons hair to short ( almost down to the skulp) and left the other side all uneven. My other sons hair was cut way to short and uneven. When I went there recently they wanted me to pay more for a scissor cut. They never charge more for a scissor cut since I've been going there. Vacationing in Chicago, decided my attempt at a manbun was unimpressive at best, unkempt at worst. Asked a local for a barbershop recommendation and was pointed towards George's. Went in around midday Saturday. Nice, large barbershop, 6-7 active seats, all filled with 10 guys waiting. It's always a good sign when a barbershop is busy, means that their customers keep coming back. 30 minutes to get into a seat myself. Haircut was great, would have been charged a lot more than the $10 if I had gone elsewhere. More than worth it. Got my beard lined as well, sharp work, and no nicks like other barbershops. I been going to this place since their old location, for some reasons not even one time they were at my expectations, and every time I try to give them a chance I just get a big disappointment from this place. My last visit was a disaster, they barber was so slow and I was wondering why he is slow ? Guess what ? Because they charge you by time it's no more a flat rate. Yea, the guy start spinning me on the chair and going far away and comes back closer and then asking me is it ok ? Yes it is just get a freaking haircut. Asking me every 3 min is ok ? I swear I wanted to leave with half way done. Finally he is done after 1h 45 min . Charging me 38$. The big disappointment when I went home I had to trim my hair like I wasn't at the barber shop unbelievably sloppy job. Needed a haircut but my crazy schedule has made it difficult to reserve. I heard very good reviews from people of this place and the hours are much more available than others. Great customer service was greeted immediately as I walked in. The barber that took care of me asked what I liked. I told him I trusted his judgment as well and started . I was very pleased with attention to detail, and making sure every stray hair was attended with all clean uniform lines. I loved the way it turned out. I would recommend anyone to go here. My hair is very difficult to cut as he told me at the end. If a barber knows this he really knows his trade . You don't need a spa like salon for a great cut. You need great hair experts! I am a regular customer of this barber shop. My advice to all. However there are several barbers who work there but always stick to the barbers who you know. With whom you have already had experience. Who do the best haircut. This is because the level of proficiency among them are totally different. You could see this even through reviews here. They are positive and negative. I am always trying to stick with barbers who do the the best low fade. But last time when I came I didn't see them. Probably they were off at that day. So, I decided to try another barber. This was a middle aged guy with some gray hair in his beard. Gee, that was awful experience. That was a total disaster. This barber seems like was having some mental problems. First of all he asked me what length of hair I wanted at the top. I told him - number 6. He nodded with his head. But instead he quickly proceed with number 5, which was way shorter for me. On my reasonable question why he did number 5, he replied: "You need to do 5"... He was always rushing, careless and rough. He used a very rough brush with tough bristles in it, to clean off cut hair from my face. It was so painful, that I unintentionally shouted "Ouch!" because of pain. He did it so vigorously, that I felt like he wanted to peal off my skin. I explained to him that the brush he using is painful and scratching my skin. He changed to the softer one. But still along the session this psycho returned to the tough one and used it despite seeing my face with clenched teeth and painful expression on it. The hair on my head was cut unevenly with multiple bumps. On one side instead of slowly fading hair away he did a sharp line. Then this guy asked me what should he do with the hair at the front. I told him: "leave it as it is". He said "Ok". Then he grabbed a hair clipper and trimmed my front hair diagonally. In conclusion, I want to add that all barbers in the world have different levels of expertise, skills and experience. Some of them are just beginners. Some have intermediate level. But some of them are already masters. The level of proficiency of this so-called "barber" who did this to me can be described with one word- IDIOT. P.S. By far THE WORST haircut I have ever received in my life. Now that I'm on Yelp all I see are one star reviews and I'm just so confused how I even ended up here. I was looking for a fade, which I've never gotten before, so I didn't want to spend too much to try out a new look, which is how I end up here. I went twice: The first time I got a decent fade and beard trim which made me happy. My hair on top was combed nicely and trimmed lightly. Not my best haircut not my worst. For ten bucks I was happy. The second time the guy gave me an okay fade, a great beard line up and THE WORST haircut on top I've ever received. He grabbed the hair and cut it straight across, leaving a flat stupid looking top look. I looked like a toy soldier and it was just an awful haircut. No texture no nothing. I was low key pissed. And of course it grew out looking dumb and I hated it. I will never be back and I will never recommend to anyone. However I love the concept of this shop. It's clearly a close crew and they have this women's salon next door. I think it's a family run thing and the family from the few glimpses I've seen of them seem actually very close and probably wonderful people. I have been to this shop four times now. I try to go every two weeks. I have been going to Shaby. He takes his time and if you tell him exactly what you want he will deliver. You can tell he takes pride in his work. The price is awesome. I like the barber shop feel of the place, and I have never waited more than ten minutes for a cut. Waited in a covid filled room for 15 minutes (first come first served) and someone finished. The barber walked around, went to the bathroom, carefully avoided eye contact, and then said, "Hey, I'm just going to go eat my lunch." I took that as a F YOU given that he could have told us as soon as we walked in or at any other point. Going to the bathroom to vape or whatever he did was just to stretch out our wait a little longer. I'm glad that George got on Yelp. In fact, I'm the guy that told him to get on here. Chicago is full of super-discounted barbers, mostly from the Mediterranean, who mostly provide exceptional service. George is the owner of this particular place, which also has a couple of female hairstylists. My hair is easy. I want a fade, where it's almost bald on the bottom, gradually shading to the top. It sounds easy, but you have to know how to taper pretty thinly with clippers. Some barbers just use a guard on top, no guard on the bottom, and try to blend in between. The really good ones start on the bottom and elevate as they go up. I judge my barbers by how much care they seem to take when cutting hair. Since these cuts are pretty inexpensive, many barbers tend to rush through them, so that they can get to the next client. George doesn't do this. He will slowly, but efficiently work on you, donning both clippers and a straight-edge razor, to give you what you are looking for. Another service that they offer is eyebrow threading. This is a fairly new concept to Americans, but is a popular grooming habit in the MIddle East, where they pull out your eyebrows with a piece of string. It hurts a little, but the results are worth it. For $6 for a haircut, and about the same for either a straight razor shave or to get your eyebrows cleaned up, you can't beat the price, but what you really are coming here for is the pride that George takes in running his own business, and that's why I return. read more

First of all, we came here because 1) the name says Fade Salon, so you'd think they'd be good at a fade; and from the pictures we thought that too. But he didn't even give him a fade. 2) The lines aren't even sharp on the sideburns. And his overall hair sides are uneven! 3) The back of his head he made it straight..... not curved so it looks unnatural, maybe if he gave him a fade like he was supposed to it'd be better. I used to go to Pierre's Fade Salon, owned by George's brother, Pierre. However, due to proximity to my home, I have started going to George's Fade since its opening. The best haircut you can ever get for the price. Very skilled barber. Does blowouts, fades, linings, beard linings, shaving, eyebrow threading, facial treatments, the whole shabang! f you've got a request for him to try something new with your hair, he will, and you probably won't regret it. Also a very sociable guy despite his lack of knowledge of the English language. He won't be able to keep up a very informative conversation with you, but trust me, George is a great guy. Called in around 4 to confirm if they close at 7. I was told yes but they will take the last client at 6:30. I have a very crucial meeting tomorrow morning so needed to get a haircut as soon as I got done from work. As someone who has been coming here for the last 4 years. I am quite disappointed that George would not even come to the door and simply signaled that he has two more people. I don't go to just any salon or barber. This is the 4th place in my whole life and been going here for about 5 years now and it's my favorite. Super friendly staff. I will give a shoutout to Chris, I cake in with no appointment and needed a cut and he did a phenomenal job. My hair has been growing for about 6 months with no cut or trim and I told him what I wanted which wasn't an easy task and he did like a said a phenomenal job. This guy is amazing...! His fades are so precise, they are like works of art. Seriously.... The price is unbelievably cheap. $8...? Really? I always give George a $12 tip. His cuts are worth a good $20 and then some... Only problem is, there is no appointment system whatsoever. First come, first serve - so on a Friday or Saturday evening, you could literally be waiting two hours to get your hair cut. Not good.... As an alternative, I noticed (since I've waited there many, many times) that the guy cutting hair in the chair just north of him is very capable as well. So if you're strapped for time, you might want to give him a try. George can go a little overboard cutting the top of your hair, so I always have him leave the top of my hair alone, as I can do some of that myself (I don't like the top of my hair cut too short). Also, he likes to spritz you with cologne, so if you don't want that, just let him know. But overall, it's about as good a fade as you can get. Given the price, it's a five-star no-brainer. I'd rather give George $20 ($8 plus tip) than get an appointment at Mario Tricocci and pay $50 or more. That's just me... read more

I usually go to Anki (probably spelt that wrong- sorry ) and make appts , but all the guys/gal honestly gives a great haircut. They work their butts off, sometimes skipping their brakes to get people in and out so they don't have to wait.
