(We were lucky to get in last minute with a major football game falling at the same time as our appointment). The interior of the nail salon is so calming, love the soft lighting, the pleasant background music on, TV with close captioned Golden Girls going and bohemian interior with its crystal chandeliers, Moroccan stencils on one window, subway tile on a wall, and French chic pieces throughout. You don't feel like you're in a nail salon. Estella and Michelle did our honey and milk spa pedicures (the upgrade was worth it) and regular manicures. Both were great and our paws and hands feel so much better as a result. I wish this salon existed back home... I love the little touches as well on how this salon supports good causes and takes the longer route to remove gel versus electric filing which always feels like it damages the top of my nail. Really great business and looking forward to return visits!

Please note, because of this timing, and that no one in my life gets this done, I have no basis of comparison other than a few previous manicures. After needing some TLC, I booked an appointment with Gingerslam Nail Bar for a standard Mani-Pedi. Nothing fancy, no colors or shapes, just enough to bring them up to factory spec. The experience was alright. While I wouldn't go as far as to say it was painful, the discomfort in my cuticles being pushed back and trimmed was greater than I'd encountered in the past. Also, while it felt nice at the time, the oil used on my feet was less thrilling when it met sock and shoe. Finally, one other thing I wasn't thrilled about: In going from the pedi-chair to the mani-chair, I was given a pair of disposable flip-flops. These things were so hilariously flimsy and ill-fitting, my freshly cleaned feet kissed the floor more times than once. Thus, while not a negative experience, I can't say it was an extremely positive one. Though my nails, hands, and feet felt good after, this is counterbalanced by the discomfort of the procedure itself, and feet-on-bare-floor. While a rare luxury, it shouldn't include this level of discomfort, in my opinion. As such, I believe my next nail-care appointment will be somewhere else.

The salon is very clean and bright. I was greeted right away and only had to sit for a minute before Phiwan came out to grab me. The room was cozy and serene. I felt very comfortable on the table. Phiwan set to work right away and immediately honed in on where my biggest knots and pain were and dug in. It was the perfect amount of pressure and I was able to fully relax. The salon looked great and I enjoyed chatting with the receptionist. I'm interested in trying their other services in the future.

Highly recommend!! Before this place I was going to the same hair stylist for EIGHT years but I had to move to the city and you can just imagine how frustrated I was to find another hair stylist. Jose, the owner was recommended to me from a friend and instantly, I was another long term customer on his chair. He's always in a contagious good and humble mood. The place is clean, recently renovated, reasonably priced and the catchy Spanish/English music in the background is always suiting. The entire staff is kind, fun, and listens very carefully to what you want done. The second time after completing my haircut the stylist gave me a receipt that said $15. I asked why since it's clearly advertised that all haircuts are $10. She said it was because my hair is long. She directed me to take it up with the cashier, who agreed and said long hair takes a long time to cut. My haircut literally took less than ten minutes since all I asked was a few inches to be trimmed off the bottom. Meanwhile there was another customer there when I arrived whose meticulous fade was ongoing and clearly much more time and labor-intensive than my haircut. But I imagine his haircut wasn't upcharged because his hair was short. I quit going to conventional salons because they would always charge women more for dubious reasons unrelated to the labor-intensiveness or time put into the haircut. I liked this one since they seemed to operate without that nonsense, but now it looks like they're using hair length to upcharge someone asking for a simple and quick haircut, while still falsely advertising a "$10 haircut." I won't be going back.

My son who is 14 years of age is accompanied by his mother in attempt to get his hair dyed - perfectly ok on the surface - behind the scenes as his father I have already informed him and his mother that I did not approve. Without my consent my son is in the chair in the process of having his hair dyed - behind my back essentially - I figure out what is happening in the middle of the service and I call the salon to inform them of my concern. I inform them that this service has not been approved by me and should not continue. The salon owner dismisses my concern and decides not to take the step toward doing the right thing. Legally were they obligated to terminate the service - no - but again as a business owner you have some sort of moral obligation to do what's right. In no situation would I feel compelled to complete a service or sell a product to a minor without full consent from their parents and would be especially adamant about not moving forward if there was any push back from either parent. So Taylor Hair Dezign lacks the moral compass I deem adequate - therefore they are being criticized with a less than positive review. I prefer to do business with people and businesses that lean on the side or right.
