Dr. Herrin took his time and even though this was my first time to this office, he treated me as though I was a good friend. As it turned out, since I had just gotten over a cold I had a sinus issue, and not a "real" toothache. (I feel like other dentists would have made something up to drum up a future visit). What I also loved was that he explained my issue to me as though it was his first week on the job - not as though I was another cog in the wheel of his day. I came back for a cleaning a few weeks later and the service from him and his staff was just as good. I really like going to the dentist now. :)

That he has 1920s posters in his exam room made me think he was my kinda doc. I was right. Let me say that Dr. Herrin is a true gentleman, and made me feel not only comfortable, but like he truly wanted to help. I had, MANY years ago seen someone in the same building (seems he's long gone) who came off more as a car salesman and very arrogant - so this was a welcome surprise. I currently have no insurance and he was compassionate about that. He could not treat my molar, but explained quite thoroughly two options, and even agreed that my choice was the best choice not simply the cheapest (which it is),. He referred me to an oral surgeon that he himself has gone to, and sent the x-ray right on over to them. He also gave me a hand written explanation/rec. to give to them. When I walked into that clinic, they indeed already seemed to know who I was, and set me up. I appreciate that Dr. Herrin didn't go in guns blazing and possibly hurt more than he could help, though of course I wish it could have been so simple. I appreciate how much time he took to speak to me and also future options after having a surgical extraction, and why it was better to let them handle it -- just in case. The person he sent me to even had an exact price quote so I won't be stunned when I go back for the procedure. Dr, Herrin was also very kind in letting me know that should I be in pain while I'm waiting, or have any issues, to call him immediately and he'd further assist. I will definitely go back in the future for cleanings and fillings and the like. Also, they managed to see me the same day as I called. I know last minute problems can be difficult to fit into someone's busy schedule, but the place I had gone before, the receptionist didn't seem to really try...or appreciate that I was in pain. Not even a reference. Customer service even of the "non" dentists of the office, is very important, and I was very well taken care of at West Seattle Dental/Dr. Herrin.

This review is long over due…read more My husband and I were living in Turkey so we got our dental implants done there. Both of our implants had problems. Doctors Tiffen and Vo worked tirelessly to fix the problem. I know they spent so many hours outside my visits on this. It took over a year and on the third try it finally worked! She was good at taking X-rays quickly and painlessly. However, the problem became when Dr Foroutan starts doing an Invisalign consultation during my checkup... when I didn't even ask about Invisalign and my teeth are fine. He was very pushy and tells me "you have great insurance! It will only be $2000 out of pocket and you can do payments!" When I told his receptionist I need time to think about it since it's pricy and I've never had a dentist tell me I even need Invisalign before, she told me "the offer is only until tomorrow!" Which made me realize they're hustling me and wanting to sell me something I don't need instead of looking out for my best interests. Then the worst part- Dr Foroutan told me I had a small cavity so I had to come back to get it filled. He never even showed me the X-ray where it is or which tooth it is. I wanted a second opinion and called my other dentist who recommended that I have Dr Foroutan's office email over the X-rays. However, the receptionist at Dr Foroutan wasn't nice about sending over my X-rays to another office and told me not to come back if I go to another dentist! Sure enough, at the other dentist they told me I definitely don't even need Invisalign and the office probably knew I would find out I was being duped once I went to another dentist! She didn't judge me for my previous dental hygiene mistakes and gave me solid advice. The whole time she was cleaning she was super supportive. She chatted me beforehand and is such a fun interesting person as well. Martina, the receptionist, is awesome. I was traveling when I had to make the appointment and she was so flexible on tracking down my information and making plans with me. I really felt like Dr. Foroutan gave me an honest and detailed view of everything. He told me about all the potential changes I could make in the future and gave me his honest opinion of the options. To be fair, my anti-dental stand is rooted in trauma, pun intended, but there was no ego at Fresh Smile, just a genuine desire to help their patients and do good work. Go here, folks. Especially if you have any fears. I like that they still mask at this office. I got Covid in late 2025 and it was one of my worst experiences, so it felt good that this place is still minimizing transmission of all respiratory bugs through PPE and lots of HEPA air filtration. I felt safe going here which for me, is rare. I have NEVER had a dental workup like this. My first clue were the intake questions. I usually hate filling those forms, but these questions were intelligent and caring. Then, Dr. Prakash and Tula gathered extensive data on my mouth. X-ray equipment was top of the line and thorough, and the office has tools which created a 3d scan of my bite. This built a computer model of my teeth that can be used for appliance formation or to reference future changes. Cutting edge stuff. Although the past 5 years somewhat ravaged my mouth, I feel confident that this team will get me back to the best dental health I can achieve. The office is easily accessible on Capitol Hill. There is dedicated parking. Costs were reasonable, and Dr. Prakash showed a willingness to work with my finances which was great. If you need to find a kind, technically proficient, up to date dental office, you can't do better than Fresh Smile.

The preplanning appointments a few weeks ago, the actual implant process today all of it was smooth and dare I say fun ! Dr. Smith was very conscious of making sure that I felt nothing during the procedure and we even had a nice conversation as he took breaks from drilling a titanium screw into my jaw . Literally could not have asked for a better experience. Shout out to his assistant Trish who was in there helping him today as well. When I asked about if they are accepting new patients, she went on to ask me several questions including: how did you hear about us, and if I had dental insurance. When I finished answering her questions (found them because I live in the neighborhood) she said "we are only accepting new patients who have family at our clinic". I thought it was really strange that she asked me those questions and then disclosed that I needed to be a family of current established patient. It felt more like she was biased against my insurance (which is good insurance) or was looking for a cash pay. She could have just told me their policy right off the bat instead of dismissing me after collecting the information. Unprofessional and rude!
