Anytime I visit Little Rock for work I always reserve a night to head to George's. The staff is so nice and attentive. The food is absolutely incredible. I do not regret a single item I've had here - please bring the Brussels sprouts back!! The mocktails are great too! I'm partial to the Amalfi lemonade, it's so refreshing and I get it every time. This is such a cute restaurant for a date night or a night out with the girls (especially heading to Barnaby's in the back). Lastly, as a marketing girlie, the branding is probably the best I've ever seen at a restaurant. Went to George's for a romantic date night with my boyfriend. 10/10, absolutely beautiful dinner. We had the Pork Osso Buco and the Spicy Rigatoni with italian sausage. Pork was delicious and perfectly cooked, mashed potatoes were phenomenal. My only note is that I wish there were more potatoes. We've eaten at George's a couple of times while visiting Little Rock. We enjoy sitting in the back at the speakeasy for the ambiance. They have an electic selection of libations to choose from and some great bartenders, Stephen and Lauren are great. Nick was our server last night and he was great at keeping up with our group. For appetizers try the fried brussel sprouts and the focaccia. We also had a delicious seasonal apple bruschetta. For our entrees, my husband had the Bucatini Amatriciana, which was spicy and delicious. I ordered the special, which was scallops. Everything was cooked to perfection. This is a classy yet lowkey Italian spot. It almost reminds you of a house that was turned into a restaurant. The service was good. The waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and helpful. For food, I had lamb chops with asparagus. The lamb chops were a hit, they were cooked just right with the right amount of seasoning. The pepper jelly really set it over the top for me. I had a spaghetti western for my cocktail, which is a whiskey. It was strong so you really only need one! They also have a speakeasy which is located behind a "secret" door. Went to George's to celebrate a special birthday. We sat outside and enjoyed the great weather. The stuff was very friendly and accommodating. The server recommended the bouillabaisse. It was very impressive and came over cheese polenta and broccoli. It was not as hot as it should have been coming out (as were several of our dishes) but it was not bad. The bite of all 3 items were nice, but the meat lacked seasoning if enjoyed by itself. My son go the steak and it came with fries. It was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, and it was more than enough food. The pasta tasted fresh, and everything was seasoned really well. Next time, I'll go with the half portion. My wife had the Gulf shrimp scampi and bar fries. She said the shrimp was everything and then some. The fries were pretty basic--nothing special. We each had a cocktail. She ordered the What Happens in Bangkok--nicely mixed, refreshing, and just a little sour. I had the Vita Bella, which was tasty but strong. The service was great--friendly, attentive, and well-paced. The ambiance was warm and stylish without being over the top. It had a nice balance of upscale and comfortable, which made for a really enjoyable evening For dessert, we tried the Mascarpone Cheesecake after hearing other guests talk about it--and it lived up to the hype. Light, fluffy, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Our total was just under $125, which felt fair for the quality and experience. So, so, so good. I went there for my one year anniversary with my girlfriend and every dish we had was spectacular. The building is gorgeous. For our appetizers we had the meatballs and focaccia, as well as a gnocchi dish with crab. Both were delicious. For our main courses I had the pork osso buco with whipped potatoes, and my girlfriend had the steak. Our server was on top of everything and kept our drinks full! Our third visit did not disappoint. This was our best meal of the three times we've been. The burrata, brussels sprouts and the meatballs were a great start and enjoyed by all. The chicken parmigiana was absolutely fantastic (last time it wasn't but they more than made up for it tonight) and the short rib bucatini was amazing. Very generous portions too. The halibut special was outstanding. It's was served with polenta even though the waiter said risotto...all dishes had wonderful quality ingredients and flavors. This was our second time here, which it is our fault for going back. The fish definitely wasn't fresh and the atmosphere is more like a funeral home. If you are thinking about going here I would give it a second thought. Also they do not recognize military, so if you are a veteran I would encourage you to go somewhere else. Excited for new restaurant concepts to open in Little Rock. I love trying all the new spots when I come visit family. While you can clearly see the money being pumped into making this a beautiful experience, a few things are lacking: 1. Service. They sit you at small tables and the serve your full dinner. It's not the diners responsibility to clear space for more plate. The staff should be clearing empty plates to make room. The staff also was slow to refill water and take additional drink orders. 2. Food. While I'd say the food was 70% good... it's a pasta restaurant and my pasta wasn't cooked correctly. We love Al dente, but this was just undercooked. I am sure this could become something greater if they can figure out how to address above. But for all the hype you would expect proper training to have taken place. Regarding reservations: we walked in at 7:00 on a Saturday without one and were seated in 15 minutes. Overall worth trying, but room for improvement. This is a tough one because we love the hidden "speakeasy" bar area. It gets an A+. The building and its location are A+. However, the food still averages a B- to an F. The F comes from the last two times, the meatballs (which I have recommended to everyone) were hard and burned black on one side. I can only assume they are repurposing them and hoping the sauce softens them and hides the burn. It doesn't. With proper oversight, this is the type of issue that should never happen in a professional kitchen. The lack of kitchen oversight explains why it appears no thought is given to plating/appearance or just the details of cutting and cooking an ingredient properly rather than large hunks of improperly cooked fat, etc. Back when they were serving Pasta Carbonara it would come out with large greasy, white chunks of guanciale. If your kitchen doesn't know how to work with guanciale switch to a thinner smoked bacon that is easier to work with. Georges staff are always friendly, hip and relaxed. Perhaps they are little too lackadaisical in the kitchen. My friends say no one wants to complain because of the cool, fun vibe. read more

My thoughts on Georges Speakeasy: it's an interesting diversion while waiting for the table. Janie and I had Sazerac's, and they were well made. Ambiance: clearly, the owners put great focus on the visuals, and it has been carefully and thoughtfully designed. Service: our server (John) was excellent. Very attentive and responsive and knew the menu well. Menu: It's a bit of a mix and does not seem to represent a particular region or style of Italian cooking. There are many "Americanized" dishes. Many restaurants try to make it sound more Italian by organizing Primi/secondi/contorni/dolce sections. This is also true at Georges, with the addition of a "Georges signature" section. The confusing part is that most of the dishes are relatively large, and they plan on patrons ordering from EITHER primi or Secondi. I lump this into marketing staff helping create a menu, but it is more confusing than irritating. NOTE: at least the pastas were all in the Primi and proteins in secondi. Americanized dishes: One example of this is the Carbonara with blue crab. 1) made with bacon instead of guanciale 2) made with cream (authentic is just egg and cheese and quite excellent) 3) You will not find seafood with cheese often in Italy, as the seafood is viewed as being too delicate to stand up well to cheese. Notes: 1) Our dear friend had this dish, and he said it was good. 2) I can be picky on Italian food and typically shy away from ordering a dish if I feel it is more likely to disappoint me. 3) The same rule applies to New Orleans food (my hometown) What I ordered Crudo I think this was likely the highlight of the meal. Highly recommend. Garlic Focaccia bread. The first one was undercooked by 5 minutes and a bit claggy. I mentioned it to our server, and he brought out another one. The second one was FAR better but, in my opinion, still a bit dense for Focaccia. Caesar salad. This is an interesting one, and I often express how a salad invented in Mexico is somehow in every Italian restaurant in America. Their version of the Caesar was bland at best. The classic Caesar is easy to make fresh, but this seemed more fitting for the fast-service restaurant category. I had Short Rib Bolognese, and it was decent but not mind-blowing. It had good flavor, and the pasta (bucatini) was cooked well. We shared a mascarpone cheesecake for dessert, and I felt the flavor profile was off and overly sweet. read more

I don't think I could speak highly enough about George's. We came here dinner and were seated by the very handsome front of house manager at the bar in the speakeasy, Barnaby. The vibe and ambiance in Barnaby was absolutely awesome. Everything from the decor and seating, to the lighting and music was so cool and gives this place such a great atmosphere. The food was even better than I expected, which was a lot. We started with the meatballs and focaccia, followed by the chicken Parmesan and the bucatini. Everything we had was so good and then we had the mascarpone cheesecake. This may have been the best cheesecake I've ever had.
