Stopped by for Cinco de Mayo lunch expecting to be late. They were so organized we had time to spare. Lunch was served hot & fresh and everything was delicious. Hadn't been there for lunch figuring it was a touch further than our 1 hour normal would allow but it will now become a frequent stop. Fajita for 1 is certainly big enough for 2 and contained plenty chicken. I was a tad disappointed to notice that it did not come with cheese or sour cream but it was inexpensive to add those two on and it did come with guacamole which is something you don't always see. read more

Acapulco dish is one of my favorites on the menu and OH GOD I LOVE their tacos, all I can say it is a great place to eat in Mandeville. I eat their at least once a week. Check it out!!!!!! read more

It's been a while since I have eaten at George's. I went in just today and ordered fajitas which I've ordered before maybe a year ago and they were horrible! I honestly don't remember the fajitas being served with tiny gumbo shrimp with no flavor and hardly grilled! Also the side plate was only served with guacamole and some pico, that's it!!! No beans, no rice, no sour cream, nothing! In my opinion La Carreta's is a better choice for fajitas. Very disappointed. Probably won't be going back. read more

The Man was told they have good food here, so off we went to try it! Walked in the door and immediately greeted by a very friendly lady and there wasn't even a pause as we were taken to our table for the 4 of us. Lots of people (it IS a Friday night) and quite noisy..but that means I don't have to worry about my 4 year old being too loud! Yay! Did I mention the friendly people that work there? Service was brilliantly fast. Drinks were kept full which keeps the boys happy..I had the Sizzling Pork Fajitas and it was quite good. LOTS of red onions which I love but was surprised at the amount. I recommend squeezing some fresh lime on it. Yum. They forgot my guacamole but quickly brought some when I asked about it..and they had corn tortillas which makes me happy. The chips and salsa were good..my son is picky about the chips and he loved them (and I love when the chips are fresh and warm..not greasy either) the salsa was perfect for us..thin enough for the boys and there were chunks that I was able to fish out for myself. I couldn't eat all my food, and so I needed a box. While I was boxing up my food, they took my empty platter away and upon noticing I had some black beans to take, was brought a container for those. Stuff like that makes me happy. We were sitting near the bar area, so I watched many yummy looking drinks being made for people..next time I think I will have to get a margarita on the rocks. As we were leaving, the boys wanted to look at the outdoor seating area..it looks soothing with a fountain and has fans. The boys were disappointed that there wasn't a live band like it says there is on Friday nights, but I look forward to going back again. read more

georges mexican restaurant is the best mexican food u can go eat in mandeville, i leave in kenner and i preffered to drive all the way a cross the lake to go eat their food!!! my favorite dish is the shrimp ceaser salad but since im very picky i order mine with no taco shell , no onions and no green peppers and of course my frozen margarita with salt!!!! best place to go eat mexican food!!! read more

all the servers seem incredibly stressed out and I'm pretty sure I got charged for changing drinks from sweet tea to sprite (the tea was terrible). fajita meat was acceptable and tacos were less than pleasing... will not be returning to George's! read more

Took the family there since reviews were good. I ordered ceviche for an appetizer. The service was quick and we had the appetizer quickly. One bite and I did something I never do, I sent it back. The worse ceviche I ever had. Then we received the entrees, the shrimp fajitas were descent but small portions with no side of beans or rice. I'd rate them as a 5 on a scale of 10. The wife had simple tacos. She took one bite and told me to try it. Absolutely worse than Taco Bell. The meat had no seasoning at all. The kids had meals were equally as bad. Even the chicken tenders were terrible. I only gave this place a 2 star because the service was ok and they took the ceviche back. Go to Taqueria Noria instead. read more

My husband arrived with my son about ten minutes before I got there. The restaurant was not very busy, about 1/4 full. He was ready to order and I showed up with just our drinks on the table and Him holding our 1 year old. The hostess never brought his high chair and our server still hadn't shown up (a runner brought the drinks). After about 7 minutes of waiting, I went up and found the hostess to ask for a high chair. Two minutes later problem solved, but still another 5 minutes before our waitress came. Besides bringing us our food, and us requesting the check after searching for her, we never saw her. I saw one middle aged man running around, but everyone else appeared to be high school aged girls with a lack of experience. Food was decent, nothing special. We were hopeful that we were finally going to find "our Mexican spot" after three months of living in the community. We tried a various selection to cover our bases: frozen margarita was not good. It tasted like the mix had gone bad and it was sour. The fajitas were a good portion, but they tasted inauthentic and like there was A1 sauce on the meat for the seasoning. The queso tasted like it was store bought and microwaved, the avocado came out with black spots all over. My husband ordered my son "rice and beans". I typically order this but wasn't at the table, but we usually order him black beans and due to the confusion/assumption they brought out refried pinto. When I saw them I realized it was my husbands error and just let it be. My son and I shared the large rice and beans plate... nothing else was shared between us since early that morning. My son and I definitely got food poisoning within two hours of leaving. We were finally asleep by 2:30 am. My son has NEVER had a reaction to food and I have NEVER in my life had a bodily response to food like that. My advice is NOT TO GO THERE. read more

i'm sorry, but i don't get it. Hostess was great, and chips came right out, but after that it was all down hill. After a long wait for the waitress, started with appetizer sampler which was blah at best. Halfway through appetizers my wife got up to go get us some utensils and napkins. Main course was nothing to write home about. Food fell way short of expectations, and service, on a slow weekday night, was equally unimpressive. I am always rooting for the small, independently owned businesses, but don't think we're likely to ever return. read more

George's has the best chicken fajitas I have ever eaten. I am from San Antonio and I now live in Houston and nothing else compares! (Which says alot) Everytime my boyfriend and I come into town we make time to stop in and eat here! You have to check it out if you haven't already. read more

I've eaten here for years, the food is good and the owners and staff are nice - but I'm so disappointed in all the up charges for takeout. I ordered 5 adult meals - I was given one very small bag of chips and had to pay $4.50 for a "large" bag that was actually half full and may feed 2 ppl. Extra $4 for queso instead of red sauce, etc. etc. You will get much more bang for your buck at Garcia's or El Ranchero. read more

This place is AWFUL! We had never been there before so we decided to try it for lunch today. The lunch "specials" were priced ridiculously high, and the rest of the menu was astronomically high. I finally decided on the cheese enchilada, rice and beans, with Queso sauce; my daughter got the flautas plate. We had the usual chips with something they call salsa - tasted more like canned tomato sauce with onions and cilantro added. We ordered a small guacamole - it was mediocre at best and too expensive for an appetizer portion. Our meals came out rather quickly but were completely disappointing. The cheese enchiladas and queso sauce were greasy and cold on the inside; the rice was some awful, pale version of typical Mexican rice and tasted terrible; the beans were, oddly, sickly sweet. My daughter's flautas were nothing more than folder deep-fried tacos - same with the rice and beans, but her plate had a small salad and mine did not. When the check came we were astonished to see our drinks were $2.99 each, which is not the price on the menu - further, the waitress never offered or suggested a "Mexican" Coke, and when my daughter asked for one, I had already gotten my fountain Coke. We told them about the price of the drinks and they gave us the excuse that prices had gone up and they hadn't had time to change the menus! Really? That's something the waitress should have told us up front. Avoid this place. Maybe it's better at dinner, but I doubt it. Pass it by and head to Garcia's in Covington, or Mi Mamacita's in Mandeville. read more
