Seated right away, not our first time here. Ordered drinks it seemed our waitress may have been a little busy with other tables tonight. We placed our order after about 10 minutes with shots of 1800. Food came out hot and both meals were good. Was checked back in with once and once after we finished and again sat for about 10 minutes but we were ready to go and finally had to stop her and ask for the check. Place is always busy! read more

Came in just as the large lunch crowd was leaving- fat, full and happy. Quickly seated and our drink ordered as we surveyed the extensive menus. Judy ordered off of the LUNCH menu, me off of the regular. ordered a small pico to mix with our thick , corn chips. Chips were thick and tasty as was the salsa. Enjoying the chips and salsa, I began to perspire- the sign that the salsa had a hint of jalapeños. Delicious. Food arrived soon after and was beautiful and in ample portions. Margarita was delicious and helped me continue to perspire and enjoy the jalapeños in the delightful and delicious salsa. Ground beef and chopped chicken were in generous portions, but a tad bland - low seasoning! The meat flavor was not outstanding- slightly seasoned, but the salsa , and other toppings maturing and melding together was delicious. Giving LaCarreta 5 stars for consistency, good service and convenience. They are open 7 days a week! They have added many healthy options to the menu so we eat here frequently as an alternative to cooking. Veggie fajitas are loaded with broccoli, zucchini, peppers and onions. Its a disservice to the guests that go to eat here and serve them Mexican cuisine that in fact isn't actual authentic Mexican cuisine. The food menu has specific dishes and the particular one that I recently ordered had Al Pastor as the choice of meat. The Al pastor received was no where near it being Al Pastor nor did it taste like Al Pastor. The steak tacos seemed as if they were borderline beef jerky due to the meat being hard and dry. Shrimp cocktail was really sweet--Mexican shrimp cocktails don't contain any type of sweetener. Overall, I strongly recommend being familiar with authentic Mexican cuisine and and raise the bar in the quality of the food yall serve. read more

I ordered the barbacoa tacos and they were horrible. First of all, they weren't barbacoa. It was just shredded beef (not tender) with a bit of seasoning. My plate was full of grease, the tortillas were swimming in it! The rice had no flavor. What a waste of money. Not going back. read more

I was in town looking for a place to live since I'm moving to the area. Là Carreta was near my hotel. I enjoyed my meal a lot! I got the La Carreta dinner because I felt like tasting a variety of items in the menu. I ate some of each but still had over half my dinner left and had to get a to-go box. A lot of food. This was our first time visiting this restaurant and they had the set up really good due to the virus. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla dinner and they only use one tortilla and fold it over...not used to that because the other place I usually go to uses 2 tortillas ‍ Well they gave me the wrong food, looked like pulled pork. I did call and they asked me to bring it back and they made me a new dinner. However, the shrimp quesadillas was really soggy, it was just alright in flavor. Taco Tuesday is a good deal for $2 of either crispy beef or chicken soft tacos including lettuce and cheese. I like to sit at the door for quick service and she's a friendly bartender. My $8 Malbec wine was a lil pricey but decent atmosphere here. My complaint is having to walk past the smoking waiter standing by the back door of the restaurant in the parking lot next to the manager. It's not a good look since nearly all customers have to park in the rear and walk by these employees smoking. I was in town for the holiday and our host treated us to this place. It's definitely a carefree space, with indoor and outdoor seating. Inside is a full bar with TVs for the sports fans. The salsa was ok, a little watery and very mild but the queso was pretty good. Their specialty drinks are mixed well and loaded with alcohol... including the Mexican disaster that comes with two mini coronas and wow for a rough week it's definitely a drink you'll want to have. I had the taco salad with the grilled chicken and because it was a salad, it was served chilled. My preference is to have hot chicken but the temperature didn't affect the taste of the food. The chicken was seasoned well and the house-made guacamole was very flavorful. The garnish of beans, chips and cheese was not needed lol and I didn't eat it but I'm glad they had the authentic Mexican soda (jarritos) especially because they had the grapefruit flavored one and that's not as common. read more

This is our favorite Mexican spot on the Northshore. We go almost every week for their $2 taco Tuesday. There will sometimes be a wait at peak times but they move tables fast and it's worth it for the great food. Free chips and salsa, and the staff is on top of the refills for you. I'm very picky about margaritas and queso, and La Carreta nails it every time. They also feature an entertaining environment and an extensive menu with nothing significantly overpriced. Worst mexican food I have ever not eaten, I was so disappointed with my quesobirria tacos I couldn't even take a bite. Cold and not fried to perfection. The tortillas were so limp and not crispy. The manager tried to tell me that's how they serve them, I said really you serve cold limp tortillas to customers. She could not answer. I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday last week and left impressed. The ambiance was nice as it was not too loud inside. The décor was modern and the service was excellent. Our server was prompt and very friendly. I usually get fajitas and it was the Tuesday special of the day but that avocado salad had my name on it. I ordered it with chicken. The avocado salad was excellent. I will order this again in the future. The lady had the taco salad which was pretty good. We also had 5 frozen margaritas and The Mexican Disaster (a huge frozen margarita with two Coronas flipped over inside the drink. Def. big enough for two to share). The prices were reasonable.
