I am converting an old Baldwin upright that can no longer be tuned, and told Adam I needed a low profile keyboard I could set into my upright base. I don't normally review places other than restaurants. Because darn it I like to eat! But when a store, a company, a group of people go so far above and beyond the ordinary into the extraordinary, well, then they're going to get a great review from me! Not too long ago we moved into a smaller home that unfortunately does not allow us to keep our grand piano. My wife, who plays a lot and is very musical, was pretty bummed about it. We had talked about getting an electric piano/keyboard, but the one other time we tried to look at some keyboards at a different store, the salesperson was so unhelpful and so unknowledgeable about the times that she sold that it soured the experience for us. Last weekend I finally convinced my wife to give it another shot and we went to George's Music to look around. Upon walking in the staff was immediately friendly, asked how they could help us and quickly showed us to their keyboard room. Kyle, one of the sales associates, came by to ask if we had any questions. He wasn't pushy or simply trying to make a sale. We began to chat, he learned a little bit about what we were looking for, and explained the differences on some of the keyboards. Did he know everything about each one of them? Nope. But when he didn't know the answer to one of our questions, he told us he would find out either through one of the other sales associates or by hunting down the answer himself. They let us play any keyboard we wanted, take as much time as we needed, and even opened up the box of a new keyboard shoved up on a shelf somewhere simply so that we could feel the action of the keys on it. We did find one that we liked. Unfortunately it came in a huge box (we don't have a car that could fit it) and it needed some assembly. Although the store doesn't ship, between Kyle and store manager Adam, they promised that we would work on a solution to get us that keyboard. Ultimately the guys secured a truck and delivered it to us. Did they have to? Nope. Did they want us to get this electric piano easily and quickly? Yep. And as for the assembly? Adam stopped over after the store closed one night to put it together. Again did he have to? Absolutely not. But he wanted us to enjoy this instrument and was willing to do whatever possible to get that done. He's also a super friendly guy with a fascinating backstory. If you ever get a chance just go in and talk to him about his past in the music industry, do it. You won't be disappointed! In an age where customer services seems to be getting pushed further and further to the bottom of what is necessary or required to run a good business, George's Music does it differently. Every single employee there made us feel like we were important and they all wanted us to find an instrument that would make us happy. I cannot recommend this store enough to anyone looking for a music instrument or any other music need. Whatever they do in regard training is phenomenal and you will not be disappointed! read more

Start right off with no pictures, Sorry! We were on vacation in Jaxville Beach with the family. Whenever I'm out and about and see a music store, I HAVE to go check it out. This place starts off with a great selection of top line instruments (Fender, Gibson, Taylor, etc) as well as beginner equipment. So, there's something for everyone. When I walked in I was immediately greeted. Not just the typical someone shouting out to any person walking through the door, but a "Good morning! Welcome to George's! How ya doing? If you're looking for anything specific, let us know." A minute later, a young gentleman came over as I was looking around and asked if I needed help finding anything. I explained my status, on vacation, just looking blah blah blah. 'No problem,' he said, 'if there's a guitar you'd like to play, let me know and you can sit and play it for a while' I just wandered around the store for a bit and saw a Nomad product I had not been able to find at home and bought it, chatted briefly with a couple of staff at the registers then went on my way. 2 days later, the family stopped in with me. I bought one of the George's Music T shirts, deciding I'd rather have that to commemorate my trip to Jaxville Beach than a typical "beach" t-shirt. And I told them that. But what stood out was when I walked back in the store, they recognized me from 2 days before and said, "Hey! Welcome back!" When I paid for the shirt they thanked me for coming back in just to buy the shirt. I know, it sounds pretty stupid, but realize, ONE: Small private stores don't survive too long without repeat customers, and TWO, GREAT customer service (read that as treating EACH prospective customer respectfully and as if they might just spend a couple of hundred or even a couple of thousand dollars) always results in customer loyalty and repeat business. These folks were authentically friendly, very knowledgeable (I did have a bit of a conversation with one of the guys) and as soon as I walked in, treated me like I was important. Add to that a great selection of instruments, accessories and books and you've got a GREAT music store to go to! Good Bye George's Music. I have bought three Taylor guitars from you. a T5, a 614ce, and a 514ce. I liked purchasing from George's music because I could sit on a stool and take my time playing each guitar until I found the one that spoke to me. I never played long attention getting ballads. i simply play some simple chord progression for about maybe 10 minutes, then move on to the next guitar. I never took down more than one guitar at a time and if I noticed someone waiting to get to the guitar I was playing I would hand it to them. Now Georges has a NEW policy. DO NOT TOUCH THE GUITARS ASK A SALES PERSON TO TEST ANY GUITAR. Of course no salesperson is ever available. If you ask the cashier he will tell you he can't leave the register. I mentioned my displeasure to the staff and told them I wouldn't be back. I just don't understand. I obviously have the financial means to purchase multiple Taylor's but they won't listen to the loyal customers? Sorry guess I will have to find a new store to shop at. We all need to let the company know our displeasure with their policy. read more

I never write yelp reviews so this is a first for me, but I was compelled to do so. George's music is hands down the only place you should shop for any music needs. Their customer service is light years ahead of not only any comparable big name music stores, but a lot of businesses in general. Their employees are helpful and friendly, and they always make sure that their customers are taken care of. I specifically remember my first purchase from there years ago that they actually called me a few days after and asked me how I was enjoying their product and that has stuck with me since years later. Went to George's 12/5 to inquire about seeing if a Martin mini acoustic/electric left handed guitar could be ordered to purchase. I was assured that it could and even would be given some options to choose from. I also purchased a $75 Capo. I did not hear back from George's in over a week, so I went back 12/12 to inquire. Again I was assured that the salesman sent a request 12/2 but hasn't heard back and was to make it a priority to see what was going on. Now 12/14 and still no word!! A Martin guitar is not cheap, you would think the revenue and gaining a repeat customer would be important. You get lost in the shuffle here. It sucks because it's a really nice store. read more

Not everyone who handles a guitar is going to buy one but every buyer is going to want to browse the guitars. If you want to check out guitars go to GC. My daughter is in 6th grade and starting band. She chose to play clarinet. I asked her band director for some advice on brands. I found the Selmer online at George's. I called and they set one aside for me to come check out. When I got there I was immediately greeted by multiple employees. They answered all my questions and offered any help. Jerry was the associate that answered the phone and checked me out. Amanda was also there to offer any help. I highly recommend them. I was shopping for a new acoustic guitar, and since I play a Taylor I wanted to try George's. Mainly because they normally have a fantastic selection of the brand. I needed a guitar that was slightly fuller and more balanced than my other Taylor as I play worship music between two supremely and loud musicians on violin and piano requiring to fill space musically between their notes. Luke, the store's guitar tech, helped me out and was very patient as I am quite particular about the sound I am looking for and it took me two extensive visits over three days to find the sound I was looking for. Again, Luke was patient and very professional giving me space to find the right guitar. And I did find the right Taylor! I bought an extremely nice guitar at a fair price that I absolutely adore. The staff will always steer you right and they could not be more helpful, whether you are looking for expensive guitars or cheap tuners. This music store has survived only because it is the only place east of the ditch that you can buy music gear. Their selection is barren at best. They haven't been a Gibson dealer since 2009, this meaning the Gibsons on the wall are the same ones that have been hanging there for 2 years. The prices are new when the products are heavily used. Unless you're spending money don't come. If you want to browse, go online. I've bought over 30k dollars worth of gear with Guitar Center, because they offer pro coverage with all their gear. I bought a particular piece of live sound equipment from George's, after six months I experienced intermittence, I had to wait 4 weeks for a repair. All in all, go to Guitar Center, or go home. The frat boy, cocky, attitudes of the George's management is disgusting. read more

Everyone at Georges in JAX Beach, FL is exceptional. These are the friendliest, most down to Earth, knowledgeable, and helpful people I've ever dealt with in a music store. No ego's. No attitude. They greet us (well, everyone actually) every time we walk in, talk with us about music and other stuff, show us new things - latest arrivals and such, and let us play with anything we want in that store. Since they know what we're looking for, when something comes in they send us emails or give us a call! I can't speak highly enough of the people that work there. I have purchased pretty much all of my music gear from George's. I play classical and electric guitar, but mostly go to George's for electric. I have found out that the staff at George's is so helpful and they know what they are talking about. I just recently purchased a fender strat that was not on their floor or in the other location's. They ordered it as quickly as possible. They made sure to set up the neck correctly and made sure all of the electronics were o.k. (which the jack was not but they fixed it with no problem). At George's they take the time to get to know their customers and what their preferences are. They even know my name when I call (it may be just because I call too often). The staff is very patient with their customers and want you to learn what you are looking at before you purchase it. If you ever go into georges looking for anything related to guitars I strongly recommend a man named Josh Mahan. He is a great employee and knows what he's doing. read more

I have shopped @ George's for several years. I know NOTHING about music, although my husband is a professional musician. I would recommend this store to anyone who has a musician need. Most of the staff @ Georges is great, but there is one person in particular I strongly suggest asking for, Shannon Booker. "Booker" as we call her, always knows what the next "toy" or "gadget's"is that my husband wants. She helps me to decide on fun surprise gifts, as well as everyday needs stuff. I have never been taken advantage of by her, which is why I continue to go back. I've been to several other music stores who have totally ripped me off because I obviously know nothing about music(and than my husband has to go return the gift because HE KNOWS they sold me crap) I also have two young sons who like to go with me to the store because Booker is one of their favorite people.
