I cannot stress enough how thoroughly thrilled with Miquel's shop I am! I was renting a learner violin for my granddaughter for her lessons. She dropped out of class after only four lessons. I called Miquel, told him my story, told him I wanted to continue with lessons and he traded me out the 1/4 size for a 4/4 size. When I got home and took it out of the case to practice my assignment, I was floored when I looked inside the violin! I found the he had made it! I absolutely love playing it! The owner was very friendly and took his time to measure her, let her choose from several available models to rent, and made sure she had everything she would need before we left - all included in the rental price. I was very happy we came, as I know nothing about the violin. I have been sending my students to get violins from Miguel for the past 4-5 years. I don't live close to the shop so I don't go frequently but I know this shop to be efficient in violin sales and violin body repair work. I went to the shop to have my bow rehaired after several years of not having it done and I knew the closest place to get it done would be Gainesville. After visiting the shop I noticed that he did bow rehairs. I was very excited that finally there was a place close by to do a bow rehair. My bow is a $500 bow that I have had since 2010, and I have had it rehaired 3 times before. Never have I ever gotten my bow back and it look this bad. The pearl on the frog was cracked and not flush with the frog and the ebony on the frog around it was chipped and scratched. The bow hair itself seemed fine but I just was very annoyed by the work. After expressing my disappointment Miguel fixed the pearl but when I received it back the bow hair was dirty and way thinner than when I got it. The whole point was to get a bow rehair and now I have uneven hair on my bow. It's very frustrating. I talked with fellow violinists around town and they all had similar horror stories about their bows and the work that was done on their expensive bows. I think he does best with his violin repairs but the bows I don't think he has any reason to touch unless it's a very cheap bow you don't care too much about. read more

I drive up from Saint Johns county just to give this guy business!! I love his little shop, and he is very fair with his prices. I had a family heirloom violin that was in very bad shape.
