On Saturday, I had a hankering for a beef patty. I had just come out of Shoppers Drug Mart and remembered George's Tastee in the same plaza. Perfect! This store is located a few doors down from Church's Chicken. The former is closest to McCowan Road. I backed into a parking spot closest to the store. I walked in. This place has hot foods. It had jerk chicken, curry, goat, and a lot more when I was there. I saw the oxtail, which is my favourite dish out of the bunch. I'll need to come back for it. I was here for patties. This place has cheap prices when it comes to frozen, boxed patties. I normally see a dozen frozen beef patties for $20 at my usual patty places. This place had them for $15.50. Such a great deal! You can get veggie, chicken, and beef patties. With beef, it comes in mild, regular spicy, and extra spicy. I got a box of regular spicy. I could smell the hot patties. I had to get one for the road. I got a regular spicy beef patty. I couldn't resist! The woman who was originally behind the hot foods helped me get my hot patty. I paid for my purchases with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked her and left with my purchases. You can get bread here, too. It has rolls on the weekend. I liked seeing desserts by the payment area. It was difficult for me to resist getting some. Next time, for sure. I was determined to get patties and I succeeded. I ate my beef patty as I drove off to run my next errand. It was so good. The spice level was nice. The patty was hot. The outside was flaky, but sturdy. I was a happy camper. I've had a few patties at home. Whether I heat them up in a toaster oven or microwave oven, they are yummy and bring great joy to me and my tummy. I'm glad that I finally visited this store. I have passed by it countless times. So pleased they are now open extended hours for dinner on weekdays. Also now opened weekends. First impression staff are really helpful and genuinely hospitable. I tried their Jerk Pork on Coco bread. Rice and peas is available too but was out. Received good portion of meat. (This is important to me) and you can taste the various seasonings in the sauce. Coco bread was supple and soft, easy to swallow. Came with some pickled carrots. So good! I am impressed and lastly the price point is right. Under $10. I ordered a beef patty on top of the order. bland and no seasoning. I ordered the Jerk chicken and it had no taste whatsoever. The rice had no seasoning and there was no coleslaw included in the meal. The food was also not hot or spicy. It is a disgrace to Carribean Food and I do not recommend going. Save yourself the time and onto the next. If I could give them no stars I would. I stumbled across this last a year ago, we were just in the area and wanted a snack. We were going to go for pizza pizza however saw the word patties and definitely wanted to try. Obviously a year later we enjoy going to this spot. The patties are the only thing we get at this spot. They are always nice and flaky yet not too much dough always just right. The usual order for us is, me: regular spicy and coco bun + drink (grapefruit soda) him: 2 regular spicy patties and a coke (and then he ALMOST ALWAYS walks back in and gets another 2) The customer service here is great. They great you as soon as you come through the door and they don't rush you when you order. For the North-East end this is a great spot to go and get some snacks! read more

When reheated overnight leftover from George's Tastee tasted as good as when I ate it fresh!! Jerk Pork has a nice proportion of fat and lean meat.. though not the most healthy selections.. but that gives me a sense of guilty pleasure when I feel all the fatty meat in my mouth... Jerk Chicken is a little boring by comparison.. But good dark meat.. still nice and moist.... Now what should I do next time when I order? Pork Fat? or Chicken Lean? The rice too are cooked with good texture.. fluffy... chewy and soft at the same time,,, and drowned in gravy! 2nd meal is 50% off.. so maybe I just get both each from now on? I usually come here for the patties but decided to try out the hot foods. Their patties are good, and cheaper than most places. I wasn't a fan of their hot foods though, so I may just stick with the patties. We ordered the ox tail with rice and peas and the jerk chicken with rice and peas. I find their prices for the hot foods to be a bit expensive. The servers are always nice though. Overall, the place is good for a quick bite of patties. read more

We dropped by this location about a week ago right at opening. Pleasant service and clean location. We ordered 6 fresh, a frozen box and 2 in coco bread to eat on the drive home. Patties are well priced, frozen, fresh and lukewarm (which I think means 'day old' in this case). Overall, good tasting patty but half as much filling as I would expect. I love their frozen beef patties. So far, I've tried their mild beef patty. It is easy to reheat as an easy and quick snack. The patty is flaky and not oily. Definitely something I love having in the freezer as a quick snack. read more

Been enjoying Tastee's for many years however decided to support them as they are a local business and I usually go to the one at the Denison location. (Surprisingly no delivery options here supported since COVID) Decided to order a dozen assorted for the office to raise morale on a Monday morning. I was about to pay the usual $14 per dozen "ready-to-eat" however was slapped with limitations. 1. $14 / dozen is now only available room temperature only and only 1 flavour allowed (spice level or chicken) 2. If you wanted "ready-to-eat" warm ones, you would have to purchase them individually. Which came to $22.65 for a dozen. 3. Considering I had to purchase for an office that had different spice level and meat option preferences, I had to go with option #2. 4. Lastly, the store manager offered bags rather than a box which was fine as I had to distribute them anyways however later realized she had put 2-3 patties in each bag rather to 1 per bag. I usually would not be this bothered however due to COVID, our current coloured zoning and the overall hygiene sensitivity of everyone. I would recommend buying their frozen 24 pack as they cost about a dollar for one ($24). I know the business might be doing this to save on costs and generate more income due to COVID impacting them financially however I believe they can do better! read more

Goodness this place was a great fast find yesterday when I was taking meetings in the more under developed north east of Markham. I've had this spot bookmarked for quite some time but only realised yesterday where it was It's not a huge retail spot with maybe only a few stools for dining in, but with the convenience of their food, and efforts made towards selling frozen bulk patties, they don't need much seating. The patties are available in chicken or beef and in varying levels of spice from regular to spicy to XTRA spicy (which isn't that hot tbh). In addition to the patties they also have a sizeable hot table with traditional west Indian/Jamaican eats like jerk chicken/pork, oxtail, rice and beans etc. Prices are beyond reasonable with two patties coming to less than $3. So cheap that to pay debit I had to buy a dessert and a large beverage just to get to their $5 minimum for debit. I'm sure the hot table eats are great, but the patties are where it's at really. Baked to a warm flakey finish on the outside and a hot flavourful centre. I bought a box of patties from here few months ago. The filling is terrible, it lacks meat and is very little proportion to the size of the patty that it tastes likes you're just eating the pastry dough. I asked the lady what is the expiry date for the box of patties and she responded that their patties never expire. Hah! Never going back, such waste of money. Got in and ordered my food, came back to work to open it and there was hardly no rice and peas at the bottom and overflowed with gravy and bones.....disappointed! Love this place. Ever since I got back from Montego Bay last month have been frequenting this place once a week for their beef patties and jerk meats. It may not be the exact same thing in Jamaica but it comes very close! They also have frozen beef patties in the dozens to bring home for the long run that are as fresh as the moment they're made! For $1.50, a patty here is a pretty cheap snack. It's not bad tasting, but I have had better. The patty I got barely had any filling, and I got extra spicy but could not really taste it at all. If I lived nearby, I might come here once in awhile when hungry, but I wouldn't go out of my way for these patties or get them in bulk. read more

The chicken patties contain beef. Many people do not eat beef and it is inconsiderate to contain beef in a chicken patty. Unacceptable.

I've eaten boxes and boxes and boxes of patties from George's. This location is way more convenient for me than the Denison location and the patties are on par. I like the spicy version and the chicken curry version but YMMV depending on what you like. The pastry is outstanding even after microwaving from frozen. The Goat Curry has been my lunch standby at the Denison location for years and it is equally good here but the takeout amount is significantly smaller than the dine in quantity at Denison. There is no dine in option here so it is what it is and convenience wins. The Goat Curry is not always available at this location and the Jerk Chicken is the fall back position. Ordered some jerk pork and chicken. Pretty standard affair. The employee was kind enough to add some jerk sauce on top, but it was very thick... like a gravy! That caught me by surprise. The rice and beans, while decent, were not worth the 4$ per container. The chicken itself was pretty good! Big, meaty, flavourful pieces. The jerk pork... hit or miss. Some pieces were a bit dry, but I guess it can't be helped when making jerk pork! I recommend going next door to Babu if you want to get more for your money, but if caribbean food is what you want, you'll be hard pressed to find another option within your travel radius. Not the best looking cake but the taste definitely makes up for what it lacks for in presentation. Tiramisu was soft and moist, with a hint of coffee flavour and not overly sweet. I've come here religiously over four years just for the patties. There's just something about them that tastes SO good. I agree - alot of those reviews left two years ago were accurate. I dont know if its new ownership - but visited today and it sucks now. The prices went up, the portions went down. The jerk chicken was dry and i had to twist her arm to add more gravy which was thick as tar anyways. The curry goat was OK. But i wanted what they used to offer a jerk chicken/goat combo - they dont do that now if i wanted that i had to pay $16.95 for goat (ridiculous price for the small portion of meat & packed full container of rice). The patties didnt taste fresh, were dry and nothing special. For $50 for 3 "large" meals which are standard round plastic take out containers (used to be around $10 for a large foam tray filled & lots of gravy) Pretty disappointed probably wont be back again. read more

This is the first time that I've been to any George's Tastee patties. We ordered 3 different patties wt coco buns and the jerk chicken. To be quite honest, it wasn't fresh and tasteful. The patties are not very flavorful. The jerk chicken came with rice and beans, which the rice was cooked with way too much water. If you want really good authentic Jamaican/Caribbean food, definitely go to "Jerk Chicken" on Hwy 7. read more
