While he was working on the backsplash I mentioned being concerned about protecting the countertop from hot pans. George took leftover tile and made a trivet. It's a plywood base with metal trim around the sides and rubber feet so it won't slide away at the wrong moment. It's a wonderful added touch to my kitchen. read more

Re grout master shower I have had multiple contractors come out to re grout my shower the last one there were pin holes in the grout within 3 hours of completion. George Restivan installed out kitchen backsplash. During the entire process, from estimate to final installation, George balanced being personable and professional. He is very easy to talk to and very knowledgeable about his work. He never hesitated to explain what he was doing and offer his suggestions to improve the overall look of the final installation, but there was never any pressure to take his suggestions. I would recommend his work to anyone. He even made an trip to pick up extra parts. No extra charge! He had mentioned the extra parts to me on day 1. On day 2, I asked him about the parts again (because I had forgotten what they were). He said, 'No problem. I picked them up on my way over.' We could not be happier with George and his work. George Restivan, the owner and installer at European American Tile & Stone Inc., is a top-notch contractor and someone that we would jump at the chance to work with again. George was assigned to our tile installation job in our master bathroom through Lowe's, and he was the one bright spot throughout the whole project (see my earlier ho hum review of Lowe's). George embodies everything you want in a contractor: He's extremely professional and just comes in and gets the job done with no stress at all. In a matter of 5-6 hours, George transformed our bathroom with beautiful new tile, and left the area impeccably clean. (You would have never guessed that work had been done earlier in the day!) We especially appreciated his commitment to going above and beyond for his job. For example, when I offered to reschedule our installation day when I found out he was having surgery just a few days before, he insisted on trying to keep the original date, as long as he felt OK. (In the end, he ended up needing to push the installation out by a week, which was totally fine by us, given that he had just had surgery and all!) In another instance, George made himself available at 10:00 pm on a Friday night (given our crazy schedule) to go through all of our supplies via phone to make sure he could hit the ground running with the installation the next day. And when the installation was complete, he took the time to walk us through maintenance of the tile, how long it will take the tile to set, etc. He very patiently answered all of our questions, even after still being a bit woozy from the surgery the week before and after a hard day's work. And should any issues arise, George offered to come back and address them promptly. Of course, because of his high-quality workmanship and attention to detail, there haven't been any, and the tile looks fantastic. Ignore the fact that he's based in Fairfield - George does work throughout the SF Bay Area, so if you're in SF and have a bathroom that needs some tile TLC, give him a call. We did this project via Lowe's, so George was their subcontractor. He was very responsive via text and worked crazy hard! The job involved replacing an original church bathroom floor (from 1959) that required additional demo and a significant change order that George ultimately opted NOT to bill us for, despite the extra work. He was very sensitive to the complex needs/uses of the church and the readiness needed for our Sunday services, even to the point of staying till 4am to get the job completed (which I felt bad about). The quality of the work was extremely high and very professional and the new floor immediately received rave reviews by the women using it. He definitely sought to please us and was just an all around good guy. I'd work with him again in a second. read more

Everything about our new floor has exceeded my expectations - all to the credit of George Restivan. We had a set appointment for him to come to Novato to inspect the floor and three days prior he called to see if he could come by early (1st star). We talked about the kitchen floor, he described the process, and he met the dogs - he likes dogs (2nd star). He commented that our selected tile would likely be too small for a kitchen, too busy and dated and tactfully revisited this point several times, "believe me I know tile" he said. I believed him and we selected another size tile and we love it. (3rd star) He and his crew removed the old linoleum and then he took it from there - the craftsman in him shined and his work is beautiful. His careful attention to detail shows throughout and we have a beautiful kitchen floor (4th star).
