It's been so long since I've gone to a drive in theater and it was great! I watched the double feature Lilo and Stitch and Freakier Friday and had such a great time with friends. If I could give less than 1 star I would.Extremely rude and obnoxious people at the ticket gate. Very hateful and arrogant SOBs who clearly don't give a s*** about repeat customers. As Georgetonians we LOVE that we have a drive in but there are a few things that we don't love....(1) ladies restrooms: the gap in the bathroom doors don't cover much of your business leaving you vulnerable to people seeing your business AND the height of the doors reveal your identity when you stand up! (2) being hot-boxed in our car by the patrons parked around us smoking cheapa$$ cigarettes and skunk weed. (3) no flipping AC in the bathrooms where you're hotboxed again in the summer heat! read more

I'm a little bit in love.... 0% fancy. 100% old school awesome! It is much closer to Louisville than I originally thought. Totally a reasonable distance to go for an awesome evening! They have two screens (TWO?! Ah-mazing!). The main screen naturally boasts a slightly larger field area and a bigger screen. In front of the main screen there is a small playground for kids. There is also an awesome concession stand. Super affordable prices! You can even buy a whole pizza! Or...bring in your own food and refreshments! It *is* a drive-in! You can watch/listen from inside your car, or bring the bug spray, inflatable mattresses and camping chairs and set up facing the screen! Important things to know: $11 per adult. CASH ONLY at the "box office". Cards are accepted at the concession stand. They are double features! BUT...the first movie *starts* at 9:30. So, be prepared for a long night if you want to stay for both. You CAN leave after the first movie, if you want to. I would recommend getting there early, both for prime spots and to be able to maneuver comfortably into said spots. They use hanging speakers as well as broadcasting over the radio. So two cars need to fit between each speaker stand. And lots of people come in their GIANT trucks and SUVs (the better to turn into viewing seats!). We left our house at 6 and got here close to 645. There were about 10 or 12 cars in front of us and they opened the gates at 7. We had plenty of time to find a good spot and get set up out of the back of our explorer. Each speaker pole accommodates 2 vehicles, one on each side of the pole. You don't have to use one but if your hard of hearing or more towards the back of the lot, the speakers are very handy. We placed ours on our passenger side window and laid in the back with the seats down and the hatch open. It was like surround sound. If you've never been to a drive in this one is a must. They do a lot of Halloween movies and also have actors come in for special occasions. October is the best time to go. They close the season shortly after the end of October. A night at the Georgetown drive-in is like a trip back in time. Just a short dive from Louisville, it's the perfect night out at the movies. After choosing the double-feature of your choosing, pay (cash only) at the front gate and find the perfect spot. Admission is very reasonable, at $10 per adult, when you figure that you can watch two, first run movies for that price. You need to get there early enough to find prime location though. Check the website for opening and film times. We parked among many trucks and SUVs fitted out with inflatable mattresses. We'd come with folding chairs (a must if not staying in your car) which we set up in front of our car. You can use the old-time speaker to hear the movie or tune into a designated radio station. Next, we hit the concession stand. Housed in a cinder block building, they serve up an array of fair-type food including pizza, burgers, nachos, & fried pickles. My group ordered the prerequisite popcorn along with soft pretzels and mac & cheese bites. The popcorn was your typical movie fare - pretty salty with imitation butter flavoring. The soft pretzels with sides of nacho cheese and jalapeños were excellent. Warm, soft, and just enough salt. The start of the show, however, was the mac & cheese bites. Half a dozen, hot triangles of cheesy goodness were only $3.25! Candy and soft drinks are also available. All the food and drink is very reasonably priced especially for a movie theater. Bonus - you can use your credit card at concession stand ($5 min). The only things keeping me from giving 5 stars are the restrooms. Also housed in the cinderblock building, there are only three or four stalls (in the ladies room) with doors that come just to head level. You feel as if you're at a state park or rural rest stop. You drive your car up to one of the spots (not a bad seat in the house) place one of the speakers in your car, and enjoy! I love the intimacy of being able to watch the movie from your own car - You can talk as much as you want and don't have to worry about other people being too loud. I love their concession stand. There are only 348 drive-in theaters left in the United States, and I am so glad that we have this one so close to home. It's kind of grungy, but I think it adds to the charm of the theatre. It shows that the theatre has been here for awhile, and that it's not going anywhere. It's a great deal, you get to see two movies for the price of one- and to celebrate their 68th season, they're offering a $6.80 per car-load deal! You can buy from a concession stand, but I have never been discouraged from bringing my own snacks and drinks. It's a lot of fun to do with a larger group of people! read more

They have everything from your average popcorn and candy to cheeseburgers, fried pickles, and Mac-n-cheese balls. On larger weekends they have specials at the outdoor stand like homemade soups in colder weather and steak sandwiches. From the setup of two screens to the old swing sets in front of the big screens. They even run the old drive inn cartoons for concessions. People always very friendly and great prices. The concession stand is fantastic. Yeah, the mosquitoes are a pain in the ass. Some of the other patrons can be a bit annoying. The line of cars on a Saturday night gets a little out of control. I did very much enjoy going to the drive in. Being that I literally live less than 2 miles from here, I can see myself visiting more often in the near future. I'll admit, it was my very first drive in experience. Never know what they were like. Its pretty fun seeing all the people come, park, get their lawn chairs out, their coolers, games, etc. It was very nice. The movie selection was good. For the price, you really can't beat the experience you have on a lovely night. The only bad note I am giving is for the restroom. The ladies room to be exact. After about the second time going to the potty (before the first movie even started), it was a HOT MESS! Toilet paper thrown all about. Liquid in the floor (and I am just going to hope and assume that was water), a used feminine product just thrown on the floor for all the world to see. Like she kind just pulled it out and swung it around a couple of times screaming "I am Woman, hear me roar." Seriously though. That's gross. Maybe they could have some of the staff go in periodically and do a little picking up of trash. Other than that horrible bathroom scene, it was a great time and I will definitely be back. read more

There is a small playground. The mac n cheese bites rock. The announcer is funny. They have two screens...two movies on each screen, each night. Admission prices are online. Concessions are cash only and they usually get really busy and even sell out...so arrive EARLY....at least an hour before start time. Bring some playing cards, a softball to toss around...whatever. Let me be upfront, I am not from the drive-in generation, The only Drive-ins I had known before this were dirty, rundown, scary places where the main draw was the action going on in the car, not on the screen. This drive-in was completely different, clean, fun, and I place I would and have brought my young family a few times. You will want to arrive early, as the best spots go quickly. They also have a pretty decent snack bar on the weekends, The deep fried velvet twinkie is good and you can order a pretty good pizza, they take digiorno pizzas and bake them in an actual pizza oven which make them really good. Had the Groupon for 4 for the Halloween special so we went Thursday night. The Groupon was for a haunt in the woods, a movie and 4 popcorns. The haunt was very scary! It was awesome. Perfect date night for two first-timers at a drive in. Moving here from a big city, dallas, i had never gotten a chance to go to a drive in so i was really excited when i herd there was Georgetown Drive In about 20 minutes from the louisville highlands. Driving in we were a little skeptical of what we were suppose to do as no one was in the "box office" to take sell us tickets. We drove in and parked in the back waiting for the first show to end and a very kind older gentlemen apologized for not being at the box office. He accepted out money told us the current film would end soon and suggested we pull up as close as possible when everyone leaves. He also gave us a good tip to bring blankets, or chairs next time we come to have the option to sit outside. My date and i had a great time and would really like to go back soon. Fantastic Drive in. Its on a hill for easier viewing of the screen no matter where you are parked. The snack selection was decent and overall, nothing was too pricey. While the season has come to an end, I must say, next year everyone needs to stop by the Georgetown Drive-In. Growing up I went here all the time and loved it. As an adult, nothing changed. It was not overly packed, but you should still plan to arrive a little early to get a good parking space. There are 2 different screens to pick from and most nights there are double features at both screens. You can listen thru the radio on in your car or thru the speakers that are at each parking spot. There are places to grab nachos, sodas and a hot dog. Plus, the bathrooms are some of the nicest I have seen, especially for being sort of an outdoor area. So, when the next season starts back up, put your PJs on, pack up your car with the essentials: Mexican blankets, pillows, popcorn, candy and sodas....and head to Indiana for a drive-in. read more

They have 2 screens that show different movies. Some weekends are kid friendly and other weekends are rated R movies. Its $11 for adults. If your in a truck; bring lawn chairs if you prefer and blankets or I even saw people with air mattresses in the back. So it's whatever makes you comfortable. There is a concession stand; large popcorn $4.50, large coke is around $2.50. They also have Digornio pizza, hotdogs, candy, burgers and other items as well. They have a website that shows what movies are playing, you get 2 movies in that price as well, they have a speaker to attach to your car or a radio station you can tune to to listen! They have a snack bar with hot dogs and candy and things. I'd bring bug spray too! This might be the easiest review ever. The Georgetown Drive-In gets 5 stars simply for being one of the few drive-in theaters operating in 2015. And they aren't just getting by. They are doing it like a boss. First, they haven't changed. Same swing set, same snack bar (with an additional expansion added for pizzas and fried foods several years back), same speakers, and practically the same prices. And yes, the same little crappy bathrooms that make the place that much more nostalgic. Be prepared for a blast from the past that you'll welcome with open arms. Second, they try really hard to keep their customers entertained. Everything from themed nights, special guests, costumed characters, free giveaways, and my favorite...the triple horror feature every fall. But beware, Freddy or Jason might creep up on you for a scare! Lastly, this place is full of memories. I have been coming at least once a year for 25 years. I may or may not have come here to make out with my boyfriend in high school. Sorry mom.
