I really enjoy coming to Xscape Movie Theater. The theater is always clean, the staff is friendly, and the seats are comfortable. The screens and sound quality are great, which makes watching movies a fun experience. The ticket prices are reasonable, and I've never had any issues with customer service. The only thing I don't really like is the popcorn. It usually tastes dry and isn't as fresh as I would expect from a movie theater! . Other than that, everything else is great. I would definitely recommend Xscape to anyone looking for a good place to watch a movie. read more

My son truck was broken into while he was in the movie. The parking lot is fairly poorly lit with few cameras. The cop that did the break-in report said that was the fifth vehicle that had been hit in the last two days I would stay away from this area. read more

We come to this theater more than any other and are almost always please. It is clean and well maintained so far. It's large enough to offer a wide variety of show times and has the extreme option (bigger screen) if you want to pay a fee bucks more. Movies are too expensive, but that is true everywhere. When we decide to pay for the experience this is usually where we go. The only negative I will share is that sometimes there sound that bleeds through from one theater to the next. Typically the movies are all loud enough not to be a big deal but there have been times when a quiet drama is next to an action flick that is much louder. read more

Parking lot looked like a street in Haiti, the lobby the hall ways the counters were worse. sticky covered in trash. none of the soda machines worked properly and half of the sodas didn't have functioning syrup so you just got carbonated water. the actual theaters have nice seats but the design is circa 1990. no stadium seating so it can be like watching mystery theater 3000. We've lived in J-town for about 4 1/2 years and this was our first visit to Xscape. Now I'm kicking myself that it took so long. The movie? DUNE. I know that it was available for streaming at the same time, but some movies you have to see on the Big Screen. We were in theater X2, which has a seriously BIG SCREEN. Something like 70 feet across and 3 stories tall. And speakers? 8 along each side, and 8 along the back...and then I think there were 16 in the ceiling. SIXTEEN. I didn't even notice the overhead speakers until the promo before the movie called them out. That adds up to A LOT of speakers. We had pre-purchase our tickets, so we went right to the concession stand. Popcorn and Pibb? Yes, please! For a small bag of popcorn and a medium drink it was only $12. Based on current concession trends that's actually very reasonable. Behind the concession counter is the drink/butter station. The age old "how do I get the butter farther down in the bag" scenario appears and there's just no way to do it without making a mess, so don't try. The seating in X2 is very stadium, very roomy, very non-obstruction-y, and very awesome. The seats are enormous and recline nearly all the way back. Now THIS is comfort. I will admit that the leather is a bit....aged...but it still sits nicely. There's also plenty of leg room for those that are apt to get up in the middle of the movie. No need to re-create the Bugs Bunny scene as he moves down the aisle saying "Excuse me. Pardon me. Excuse me. pardon me". Once the movie started it was a great experience. That enormous screen coupled with the incredible digital projection was BEE-YOO-TI-FUL. Add to that the completely immersive sound and it was a fantastic movie experience. I'm kicking myself because I hadn't gotten to Xscape sooner, but now I want to see ALL my movies in that theater. read more

I honestly wish I could give a better review. There's a lot that I really enjoyed about this theater, but unfortunately the members of my group had a less than stellar experience. My fiance is blind, and we have a friend couple who are also blind. I called the theater prior to our arrival to make sure they had audio description service because the movie we all wanted to see was an action movie and had a lot of visual gags (Deadpool and Wolverine) so audio description is somewhat necessary to get the full experience. I was assured that they did and that the headsets could be picked up at the concession stand. We bought our tickets ahead of time, got to the theater about 30 minutes prior to showtime, and made sure to get in one of the Dolby Atmos theaters for the best sound. Got our snacks and the headsets from the concession stand, and the guy said he checked them and the batteries should be fully charged. Great! We get in our seats just before the previews begin and kick back in the very comfy recliners. The movie begins about 20 minutes later, and not a single one of the headsets are playing the audio description. They turn the volume up, they check the switches, but not a one is functioning. Two are just blasting static. So as Bye Bye Bye is kicking in, I take all three headsets back to the concession stand and the gentleman who helped me before finishes with his customer and I tell him the issue. He apologizes and checks them over, then slides to the back and takes the headsets into the theater to check them out. He also can't get them to work, so he made a call and slid into the back room. After a few minutes he came out and apologized profusely and said to find him after the movie and he'd get us some return passes. (He was a manager) So, we did finish the movie, but I missed the first 20 minutes trying to fix the issue, and my friends and fiance had a lacking experience because they just didn't know what was happening at times, and the overall sound didn't lend itself to me trying to narrate in real time, not that people really appreciate talking during a movie in any case. The manager did refund us afterwards which was appreciated, but it's just unfortunate that we weren't able to enjoy the movie because of their system problems. I hope they put some effort into ensuring that their accessible tech is functioning. I can't comment about their captioning service but the audio description failure doesn't leave me optimistic. Had the audio description been working, I would have made this a 4 or 5 star rating. The theater itself was nice, the line at concession was long but moved pretty quickly, and I was happy with my draft hard cider and the popcorn. read more

Though the foundation drink and butter bar where messy, it was just popcorn and straw paper because people don't know how to throw things away. "Life moves pretty fast"...(except the lines at this place, especially for the concessions)...."and if you don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it" - which may be good unless you want to see the mess everywhere at this theater - popcorn and soda spilled everywhere, ripped up carpets, and popcorn all over the seats....however, Maybe the popcorn left on the seats was a good thing since I had to skip the concession line which stretched back and forth around the turnstiles and out the main doors spilling onto the sidewalk. It makes sense why the place is a mess. If they don't have enough people to work the concessions there certainly is no one to clean up the incredible mess everywhere. I was genuinely confused by the carpet and baseboards missing. Are they remodeling? If so, they need to put up a sign; something like "pardon our mess while we remodel" - it was really concerning with the messy concrete floors and missing floor boards at the bottom of ripped wallpaper. "Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get"... here the chocolates are missing the wrapping, are covered with crumbs and look like like concrete The process to get tickets was confusing. We purchased online tickets. When we arrived, the line for the concession going out the door was mistaken for the line to redeem/print tickets. It took a while to figure out what to do and there were no employees there to help. "May the force be with you"...you're going to need it to find your way here We finally figured it out, printed our tickets and headed towards the theaters. "Here's looking at you, kid". Seriously, just look. No talking from the only employee we had an encounter with. "What we got here is a failure to communicate." And with a single motion, he sent us in the wrong direction to see our movie. We figured it out pretty quickly though and made our way down the forlorn hallway to the small theater room. "Well, there's another nice mess you've gotten me into." The single good aspect of the experience were the reclining seats (once I cleaned up the mess of popcorn, though in hindsight I really should have saved that popcorn for the movie instead of throwing it away...) "I'll be back"...to the movies, but not to this theater. There are several other much nicer choices in Louisville. "Hasta la vista, baby" read more

After a long month spent at home -- due to COVID and having a baby -- my husband and I got out to celebrate his birthday, and I had to write about it on Yelp. We have been dying to see the new Spider-Man movie that was released just a few days after our daughter was born. But we've been hesitant to enter a crowded theater considering COVID is running rampant. Friends of ours, though, mentioned a special deal they saw for the Blankenbaker Xscape Theater: rent a theater for $160 for a matinee or $220 for an evening and see a movie with up to 20 of your closest family and friends. So if you split that cost among the group, it could be cheaper than paying regular prices. And most important: The fact that we could control who was in the theater with us -- all vaxxed and boosted! -- made a huge difference. Our friend contacted the theater and within a day got a list of times that were available. We got a 3:30 matinee time the following Sunday. And wow, was this such a fun experience. We had a great group of friends come with us. We could spread out as far as we wanted in the theater. And the staff waited until we were all present to start the movie. They also set up some tables in case we wanted to bring snacks, like a birthday cake, with us. (If you want to bring a more substantial spread, you have to pay an additional fee.) This experience was so great and easy to set up that our friend group talked about doing this every other month or so. Another notable about this theater: You can buy beer at the concession stand! I have missed movies so much during the pandemic, and I like that this gives us a safe way to support a theater as well. I look forward to many more movies in my future. read more

They also have the convenience of having the kiosk available to fetch your tickets. When this theatre opened it was so nice and modern. Granted we haven't been to the movies in about 2 years due to COVID. Walked into the X1 theater today and first noticed the stained carpet, then turned corner to see ALL the recliners peeling and cracked at the headrests and some at the seats. Only one employee at the snack bar period in the entire building and he was slammed to heck on a Friday mornin. I had to pay 6 bucks extra cause there was no one to buy a ticket from cause the kiosks didn't work ..... so yeah when we came out there were 4 or 5 employees running around doing nothing . This is my first time and I am in love. Love the red recliner lounge seats. Love the thick full comfort of them. Not reserved seating, but that's cool. I went alone for my birthday, before going I checked out the website and joined email club....FREE WELCOME SMALL POPCORN just for joining. Once there, I got one of their cards for point system. Earning Free tickets, Food, drinks etc. They serve beer, so Tony will LOVE IT here. Saw House of Gucci in theater 8 tonight. Everything was very clean and well kept. Pizza from concession was slightly undercooked but I actually like it that way and it was ready fast. You have to us the kiosk for tickets so no cash. Cards only. I find that a little irritating but I'll get over it. I'm all about these recliners. Every theater in the world should have these. There should be a law. Somebody write that legislation. I like that they have self-serve drinks. I'm weird about how much ice goes in the cup and they never seem to get it right. This way, I can control the cubes. The biggest problem was trying to order popcorn. There was this dude in front of us who loved the sound of his own voice and nobody had trained the teenage snack slinger how to move that along so he was uncomfortably trying to get this idiot to shut the fuck up and just order his snacks. It was painful to watch. This is important training. In the time it took for this guy to order, the other line served a dozen people. Teach these young workers how to be assertive to customers who waste your resources. It's good for your business and it's good for their skill set. read more

I went to Escape Theatres several weeks back to see The Batman. We ordered tickets online. Upon our arrival, I noticed the concession stand was not clean. When getting good, I like for the station to be clean. I appreciate that they offer alcoholic and traditional beverages, however. Their prices were average in comparison to other theaters I have been to. The theater itself was clean, and I had no concerns about the viewing. I did not review my initial review before posting the first review on my phone. The review is dead on, but when I finally looked at my writing, feedback it was hard to read because of all the errors. I wanted to correct my trainwreck of a review. This was my favorite theater, and I went to no other theater because of the experience of this place. I have not been in a couple of years, and we saw Oppenheimer. #1 The seats are filthy; they have popcorn on the edges, and the floor looks about 10 years old, with oil, soda, and popcorn ground into it. #2 The restrooms were filthy, both my daughter's and my men's restrooms. In my bathroom, all of the urinals are covered with plastic bags. #3 The seats in this theater are leather, but the leather is cracked and worn out, they were nasty. This place is disappointing; it was the best theatre in Louisville and Southern Indiana, and now I would never return unless they completely gutted it. It is so surprising that this theater is in this shape because the company that owns it is based in Southern Indiana. I can guarantee no one in the ownership would have been okay with paying to see a movie in this dump. I could not recommend going somewhere else more...this place was the bomb, and now it looks and smells like a bomb was set off. read more

We used to come here a lot when it first opened however many years back. We've been regulars at Tinseltown for quite some time now, but we decided to go to Xscape so we could make a stop at Sam's Club on the way home. Walking in... they had no one operating the ticket desk area so we used the computers to check in and retrieve our tickets. No worries, but I did find it odd not to have someone over there for customers that may struggle with that sort of thing. We got popcorn and a soda from the concession stand. The popcorn had zero salt. The butter is self serving... which I dislike. I like my butter layered in the popcorn, which is impossible to do here. The drink area was sticky and just felt dirty. One machine was completely out of order. The theater itself was lackluster. This place has been there for a while now and it shows. One of our red leather recliners had black electrical tape on it... felt kinda icky. All in all, I probably won't go out of my way to come back here. this is a really nice theater that I finally got an opportunity to check out cuz it seems like everybody and their mama has been there since I believe it's been open about the past or you both out of here somewhere around there anyway I don't really get out to that part of town much I'm a wife and I got a babysitter and we actually got to go see a movie there. And we had a lot of good times who was fun then we got a matinee so it was like $16 for both of us $8 a piece that's not that bad so the seats are really comfortable Liam back I like how you pick your seats really clean theater nice people so I highly recommend it four out of five stars. read more

A fine movie theater, it ticks off several popular boxes: reclining chairs, beer sales, plenty of screens, good sound systems, near a freeway. And yet, it doesn't quite win over this curmudgeon. In this, an era when household televisions have become spectacular and we can stream everything, movie houses have to up their game. I don't see much here to do that. The screens themselves are pretty small. And what's to love about a soulless barn built on an island of blacktop in the middle of nowhere? And why do they make me sit through 20 minutes of torture before the movie, assaulting me to download a gaming app? Also, I understand why they don't have a box office and ask people to make their purchases at a kiosk. But this place barely seems to employ anybody. Nobody sold me my ticket. Nobody checked my ticket. Nobody told me which theater to go to. And just before the start of the movie I went to see this week, our screen went dead for 10 minutes. Finally, someone in my theater went to find someone to ask them to get the movie started. So I just don't see myself often wanting to drive 20 minutes for the pleasure. My refrigerator has plenty of beer and I can control my own remote from my couch. read more

This was such an awesome edition to the city! Everyone has got to check it out! I came on a weekday evening to watch Finding Dory with 3 other friends and it was fabulous! I loved laying back to watch the screen. It's comfortable. At the time, it was new went I went. I don't come here a lot since I don't spend my evenings on this side of town. Still, it's pretty awesome! The only downside is parking. It fills up quickly can get a bit tricky. Overall, love it though!
