This school lacks consistency with communication especially when it comes to attendance. There are numerous days when the school has scheduled asynchronous learning days, but count the kids as absent even if all the work has been completed. Then they send out notices about missed school days and expect the parents to go into the computer and input time when the completed work should count as the time. They have a stupid policy that stated a student will be withdrawn after 10 missed days regardless of the student's grades. They should be made to pay back the money for the portion of the school year they are withdrew students based on this dumb policy. These people are just making money off student and shortchanging them at the same time. I would give them a rating less than one if it was possible. read more

I've tried contacting the liason and others about shipping my sons computer equipment back. Once my wife took my son out of the school I started to be treated differently. Nobody wants to return my calls or talk to me. And for no reason. I never had an argument or any kind of disagreement at all with the anyone. I've been the nicest guy for years with them. But now I'm treated like the bad guy. They said now my wife is responsible for shipping everything back even though I have all but 1 piece of equipment. I shipped everything but have a few things left that I'm trying to return and Noone will even acknowledge me. I'm trying to do the right thing and return this equipment so my wife is not held responsible for it but again I'm treated like a bad guy from the staff for no reason. I'm completely ignored. They act great when your child is in school but when you take him out they act completely different. I will not be using this school again nor do I recommend it. read more

I started to think perhaps our experience with GCA was an isolated event due to an ignorant staff member and administration that likes to cover their behind but now I am convinced this discriminatory behavior is how they operate schoolwide. My child previously attended another cyber school through the K12 online learning program and was left behind. They ended up closing their doors at the end of last school year and we were then enrolled with GCA. Boy, it sounded great at first! Tailored curriculum, extra help..the admissions team expressed they understood our concerns completely after attending the last school who just wanted the work checked off and cared nothing for whether the student understood the content. Admissions did everything to convince us that they were on our side and things would be different. Typical fluff. My son started out struggling with more basic concepts so when he attended his live sessions on more advanced topics he was overwhelmed. There were students that started to bully him by the chat (going so far as to call him the n word) and when he brought it up to the teacher she only said "its ok." Yes, its "ok" to call a 3rd grader a racist word that NO kid that age should know but it came from the class pet so what else should be expected? I am holding that screenshot for upcoming litigation by the way. After this incident and not getting the support we needed for our child to succeed I reached out to the principal on MANY occasions. She didn't even give us the satisfaction of a response. Rather, there were other people (who did not have her level of authority) to contact us but it went NOWHERE. One of the people who contacted us even backed up the teacher who "ok'ed" racism saying she "knew the teacher for a while." This is the same teacher who requested writing samples to assess the type of extra help my son needed..yet never looked at. We also thought we were going crazy thinking that he was getting locked out of certain sessions (after being refused login credentials, website info, etc for others) yet reviews I found support what we experienced. All year long we were asking for help and only one person showed any concern whatsoever there. That was the homeroom teacher. She was great. At the beginning of the year we approached the schooling as we had the past few years being that they used the same OLS system for login. We had no idea that the assessment at the beginning of the year was to determine any help that would be needed, we were never told that. As a matter of fact we were not made aware of some of the tools available to gain help until recently. After the incident with the teacher and the bullying, we were told to have our son attend recorded sessions rather than live but they just used that against us later to say he didnt utilize all available resources. I would also like to say (the SAME TEACHER) that a student asking his teacher for help is not harrassment and you dont tell a kid to stop harrassing you. Its childish and unprofessional. If you dont want to help, dont be a teacher. Simple. My child, as a result of their bullying and lack of communication and adequate support, has failed ALL subjects making an average score of 20-30 in them. He ended the year reading at the level he should have started the year, but apparently this is sufficient for him to be promoted to the next grade where he will continue to fall behind despite our wishes as well as our sons. We expressed repeatedly that the extra year would help catch him up after working through yet another summer (can you imagine how frustrated a small kid would be never getting a break!?) but I have noticed a pattern here after looking into writing a review on our experience. This school is racist (see other reviews I have found) and their rating for how they fair against GA as a whole for lower income student progress also supports their bias behavior. Before finding this pattern I thought maybe Ms. J was a bad apple but after the principal showing she does not care about students, and the other reviews I have seen I will NOT allow my son to have his chance at education destroyed. Wow I can't believe the reviews, GCA has been great to my kids. Let me start by saying it's not for everyone, you have to put in the work and not just stick your child in front of a computer screen to get results. All the teachers and staff are very friendly and very helpful in my experience. The curriculum is catered to your child for their best learning experience. It can get overwhelming at times sure but there has been someone there to lend a helping hand whenever we needed it. Home schooling has been a great option for my family. I recommend this school to anyone who is willing to put in the work with your children. read more

I personally went to this school and graduated from it and while all of the teachers and family liasions are nice people who work in their office are extremely rude. Everytime I call up there either no one answers the phone or someone does and they have an attitude problem. Everything with this school is slightly difficult and it's very annoying. Overall the school part is really good. The teacher's are helpful and provide amazing help regarding whatever the students need. However, that front office? Someone needs to go back to bootcamp because it seems they missed the kindness lesson. read more

The online school is not parent/ guardian friendly to people who aren't similar with online schools or have not been in school in many years. Grandparents for example . We truly enjoy the learning experience that we are getting at GCA. This is our first year and we have already registered for next year. The teachers that my granddaughter has are excellent they keep her engaged by doing things that keep her interested. Although we are not in a physical school building she seems to be doing the same things if not more. We have weekly projects that she is responsible for. Yes she is in a fast paced class and it requires a little more work but we work with her and she is able to keep up. This is not a school where you can just sit your child in front of the computer. You have to want to be involved in the education of the child. I'm also a learning coach for 2 other children and beginning in August I will have 4 students in my care 3 primary and 1 middle school. The counselors and all of the staff members have always been easy to reach and if they aren't available I get a response within 24 hours. read more

School in risk of losing charter due to poor Milestones scores and are attempting to raise their scores to the detriment of the students. MANY students in grades other than 3rd, 8th, and 12th are being retained due to low Milestone scores. Even those students on honor roll. This school does not care about the well being of your student. There is also a lack of diversity within the teaching staff. read more

As I am reading all these reviews I am one that will have to say my daughter was in this school in 2018-2019 school year of her freshman year. She did struggle alittle bit. There are a lot of test and fast pacing but they are getting ready for the test at the end of the year. Yes they have to keep there testing scores up and grades up, it shows how much the teachers are teaching and it also helps with funding for this type of school. People like the free laptops, free printers, I know we did. It helped us a lot to not have to figure out how to buy one. It was nice to have one provided. The state funds money to them. Kids and people are going to be bullied everywhere they go. We as parents do have to teach our kids this and that they are going to have someone somewhere bully them. No it is not right, we as parents HATE IT!! I still Hate It!!! We can not protect them from everything every single day. Took me along time to say that... I wish I could protect my daughter from everything. I can't. I know that I have to let her learn especially in today's society how people are.... However, I love this school. gca started out a good school they worked with use they helped use the first semester but then in the 2nd semester they say oh your child has not been in her live classes and she has all these late assimenta they tell her to do this this and this in the next three weeks or we are kicking her out she stayed up night and day did what she was asked and then I get a email saying she did not do good enough for them and said good luck in your next school she struggled a bit but that must look bad on them so they kick them out that's the answer all the way no its not the answer its to keep up there good standers of we only take on kids that can hold a 4.0 if u fall below u get kicked out and I was not even told when there meeting was gonna be or how to be there I chose home school cause my child got bullied in public school not only from other kids but by the teachers as well. and then she gets treated like this. she went to a good school once where she was strait a child everyone loved her. to the last to schools making her feel like a no buddy and that's not right. but I would not recommend gca or Kendrick high to anyone cause these to schools are the worse. read more
