This location is great, and it caters to a great community. There are things that aren't great. 1) The events are not accessible to all. See my elaboration below. 2) There is a need for more space. 3) The front desk staff are abrasive and dismissive. 4) There is not enough adult books. My elaboration: Yesterday 6/30 the library hosted an event for the Great American Puppet Theatre. We arrived early to the event to get a seat. When we arrived to the 11:30 showing it was a huge line. We went to the front desk to ask how we participate and they told us the show is full and we couldn't partake. SUPER bumbed that we didn't even have a chance. The woman at the front was rude and had no sympathy, she just starred at us. This is the second time we've tried to attend an event and couldn't. The room was small and the reason we were turned away was because of fire code. This event should've been a pre-registration to avoid people driving and then being turned away. Also, there was so many adults that could've stepped out to give more children an opportunity to join. I was NOT the only parent & child that was turned away. Wow, this library is very nice, new, and clean. Very modern too! It was my first time visiting since my coworker and I needed a place to work and get some fundraiser candy grams put together (for work). She reserved a room for an hour and we were able to knock out everything we needed. read more

My favorite local library!! It was my first time visiting and there was so much to like. To start, the staff were very friendly. I needed a library card and the woman who helped me was very helpful and patient. She even recommended a reading program for my toddler that we are excited about. The kid area is the best, my 1.5yr old daughter spent nearly 2 hours here just exploring. She loves books and it very gentle thankfully lol. We will be back very soon! read more

Love this Library so much. When you walk inside you get a very modern feel to the place. The kids section of the library is amazing and when you walk upstairs you're greeted by a lot of study areas. I typically go here to do some work for school and I do that by registering one of the many study rooms they have. They have computers and a teenager section where they can play video games. read more

Brand new library opened during 2022 summer time. It conveniently located next to the Goodyear city hall (literally in the same building). Brand new facility with tons of interactive kids items and thoughtful decorations. It belongs to Maricopa county and is a county library. This location is not as big as Burtons and Barr. It has 2 stores, with children's and adults books on the first floor and teens and dvds on the 2nd floor. Check up their excellent collection of culture pass and fun Scavenge hunt at the friendly front center! Btw, they have a cute tiny cafe in the corner of first floor--perfect amenity for cruel summertime in Arizona! read more

Absolutely love the new library! Worth the wait and so beautiful! The kids enjoy being here and I want to go every day just so they have time exploring and reading. It offers multiple areas to use computers, study, read, and a whole area for kids to play. It's brand new so it's very clean and they even have a section for snacks and drinks! With multiple vending machines. They have computer stations for adults and for kids. Upstairs has rooms for studying away from everyone else. Multiple outlets. Outside has some beautiful areas as well including waterfronts, art, chess tables, seating areas, and grass! It was way easy to get a card and you can use the card at other local libraries and also to check out ebooks! read more

It is a complete and utter atrocity that this library is so strict about STORYTIME events. As any parent knows, we can try our hardest to get kids ready and out the door to go anywhere and often times can run late. To be one minute late for a story time event and this library turn my children and I away is a disgrace. They should feel ashamed of themselves to punish our children for something they have no control over. This is not an event that should even have any sort of time parameters, it's not like crowds of people are banging at the doors to get into story time. Be better Georgia T Lord Library, this is baffling. read more

I love this library so much! It is Beautiful inside and out. I find me coming to the square area on many of my days off just to relax and read. Great care was taken in the design. The stair seating is so cool! Lots of great rooms upstairs. My child's school uses rooms there for therapy upstairs and there are many private spaces to get your work done. My daughter is excited to start utilizing it to work with her friends next year in high school :) read more

The library in Goodyear moved to this location a couple months ago, if I recall correctly. Both locations looked pretty decent. The new location is much nicer, having a park next to the library, with several sitting areas and tables. It's a beautiful new building, but I find it hard to believe that three or four rows of adult books is going to satisfy the literature cravings of the adult population of entire city of Goodyear. I do mind somewhat that I have to put the majority of books on inter library loan because we don't have them; however, the selection is fantastic. I was disappointed that they don't have a seed library, as the other libraries do. Their activities are lacking compared to other libraries, and are limited mostly to family movies and nursery. The WiFi at the library seems to function well and it is not crowded. I was just a bit disappointed that 3/4 of the library is allocated to elementary and teen reading materials. I pulled a few documents that indicate they have access to GALE library, online courses, and tests. This is great for research and career advancement, and was an unexpected plus. As much as I love libraries, I'm giving it three stars because they could have opted for more space and a larger adult section. read more

Awesome library, never to busy. Also, they have a great selection of fiction books to complete those summer reading lists. I'm a elementary school teacher and enjoy catching up on my reading over the summer and this library has just enough to accomplish that. read more

This library is beautiful. I drove 20 minutes out of my way to come to this library instead of the one closer to my home. I regret it. I showed up around 12pm the first time and left because there were people in the study rooms yelling and carrying on. I came back 2 hours later which I am leaving AGAIN because people have no library etiquette anymore. Teach your children what a library is for and shame on all you library employees that allow it to continue and participate in the loud environment! Some of us are college moms who are trying to study and better their life in a quiet place! I won't come back here again. I would suggest that to anyone who comes to do actual school work! If you've come to hang out, this apparently is the place to be. read more

This branch is so modern and has enough to educational toys and books for infants and toddlers. This library has its monthly calendar with different type of activities. Loved the history walls of Goodyear very informative. Staff were friendly and resourceful during my visit. read more

This is a wonderful community library that has something going on every week. From story times for babies, toddlers and preschoolers, to technology classes, and more! The best part, it's all FREE. To get a library card all you need is a current ID with your address. That's it. But you don't need a library card to go to the programs or even go in. They have awesome study areas where you can plug in and do homework or study. The wifi is free and no passcode required. They have 8 public computers and even some for kids. Also a Free scanner one can use! This place is the best! :-) Now on to the staff. They are friendly and very helpful! I can attest to that because I have been here over the past year. I love coming here and meeting others in the community. Don't miss out on all the wonders that this library offers! If you prefer to stay at home, they also have a free online streaming service like Netflix called Hoopla. Free with your library card! Also you can download free music, magazines, and audiobooks. I came here to study. Thinking a library would be peaceful & quiet enough to concentrate. This library is rather unique..... out of all the people in here (mind you school just got out so there's a ton of kids) the ONLY people that are talking aloud (going on 20min straight now) are the damn librarians!!!!! Seriously guys? There's 2 up front just flapping away like a normal convo at a loud restraunt and 1 guy who keeps coming in and out of a door that leads to the back and letting it SLAM every time he passes through it. I expect this stuff from I'll behaved small children but for the librarians ?!?!?? read more

My family and I love this library! They have an amazing kids area; there's something for everybody of all ages.

I have to give it to Mary the modern day librarian that is kind hearted, patient, and well mannered. With in the span of an hour I witnessed her go the extra mile dealing with a complicated customer. Not only was this customer using the landline as an emergency courtesy, but comminuted to bash The staff for not letting her continue to use the line for her personal taxes, (hence the the emergency she had indicated). As Mary continued to be yelled at sue kept a cool professional demeanor, and tried to help this customer. Mind you this continued for a while, this customer was using the computer for personal use and expected to be accommodated for the landline, she eventually left when she didn't get her way but did not stop her from abusing staff and especially Mary. At this point everyone was starting but that did not make any difference Mary kept calm and collective (I don't know how she did it) her luck unfortunately continued with incoming calls of customers inquiring about other employees or services that did not relate to the library. Mind you she continued to stay calm and collective, the modern day librarian cool, collective, well mannered, professional, and does not allow customers to be rude or take advantage, George at library you have a gem of an employee working on the second floor named Mary! This is a great branch Library. Very new and clean. My favorite part about the Maricopa Libraries is their online catalog. When you go online to www.mcldaz.org you will have access to the entire county's inventory of movies and books. I like to go online and request movies and books for pickup. I get an email when they are ready. Then all I need to do is go and pick them up. They have a great selection in their building everyday. And I appreciate a section called Friends of the Library where books are for sale for $0.50-1.00. read more

We come here after school often to do homework. It's a great library for kids! They have stuff to play with and many children's books to look at!! But if you are looking for a quiet place, this is not one for you! Great for families with younger children, but if noise and jumpy kids are an issue for you, might try a different location! A very nice and new appearance. My first time visiting and I think it's too noisy for a library. I recommend a separate facility for the children. The younger children should have a separate place (a children's library). This place sounds like a nursery or a playground or the lunchroom at school. I was rather disappointed. The Sunset Chandler Library is much more peaceful and quiet if you do not like noise distractions. read more

Beware: the staff at this branch will blame you then charge you for damage to books that occurred AFTER they are returned in the drop box. According to the website, this library system allows teens to volunteer, shelving books....you do the math. Either way, don't trust the staff at this branch. read more
