Finally writing a review because this is the 3rd time this exact thing has happened to me. I was waiting in line at around 1am for a while to use the restroom stall and was next in line, the restroom attendant pulled a woman ahead of me and everyone else who had already been waiting, claiming that's how it's always been and was quite rode and dismissive. This is a gay bar. Yes, everyone is welcome, but why is he giving anyone preferred treatment based on their sex and making other guests wait even longer? We all wait in line, sometimes for a long time, only to have this happen!? And then he expects to get tipped? That's ridiculous and I would not expect this to happen in one of OUR safe spaces. If he prefers women, maybe he should go work at Liv or something. Very disappointed. This restroom attendant should be replaced. read more

The show was amazing. The queens didn't come outside where we were seated so I stepped indoors to watch. They impressed me and are gorgeous. The food was average. My flatbread was chicken and buffalo and the chicken was not good. I thought it came from a can but my friend thought it was overcooked. So I picked off all of the chicken pieces and ate the rest of the pizza. My drink was okay. Really sweet and creamy but not too strong. I'd probably get something else next time. So Monkey Bar is an outdoor restaurant that has a bar area as well. They have daily specials and reasonable prices. Most of the food is American comfort. One good thing is that they stay open late, usually around 12:00, possibly pushing 12:30am. For those of you that don't know, this is part of a larger gay club where everyone is welcome. Service was above average and while theere is plenty of parking, it does fill up quickly. Some things are going to be better than others here and they are known for their hamburgers. And this same experience has happened the last 3 times we have dined at Alibi.... We thought the first, even the second times may had been just an off night ... But three times in a row.. and you get this review of FAIR WARNING TO OTHERS .. ( if we even return to eat at Alibi, the ONLY server we will have is CHARLIE. HE IS STELLAR , the ONLY reason we will ever return. And MANAGEMENT.. I suggest you have a SERIOUS meeting with all your other staff to step it up in service... Because they are COSTING YOUR BUSINESS LOYALTY. And the DRAG show starts a half hour after it was scheduled at 8:30 and didn't start til after 9 pm . Get YOUR act together, be on time. Last weekend while visiting the neighborhood my friend and i did our usual bar hopping and ended up going to Alibi. While we had a wonderful experience at the previous bars at Alibi we experienced the opposite, i was pushed and kicked out of the dance floor by a staff member just because he didn't like us. When I confronted him about his action, no excuse was provided instead he raised his radio up and asked for us to get escorted out of the club. It's such a heavy feeling when the hurt doesn't come from the outside, but from someone within your own community. The place where you expect understanding, support, and unity suddenly becomes the source of pain. Being pushed aside by those who should stand with you is one of the saddest betrayals. read more

First time back in ages and disappointing. Went Saturday night for the drag show and dancing afterwards. We have no issues with the quality of drag performers. However everything else sucked? Latino looking/younger bartenders lazy with poor attitudes. Drinks expensive even with 2 for 1. No call options for gin? Place smells like old beer/dirty mop/weed. People allowed to vape everywhere. Absolutely no production value for drag show; poor lighting, stupid/slow DJ, no video feed, nothing... People allowed to stand anywhere ordering nothing and not tipping entertainers while blocking the bar service areas. Needs more chairs for drag show. The food is delicious and this restaurant used to be one of my favorites I would frequent. I am upset at the end of my meal I was not provided with an itemized receipt, but just shown how much I needed to pay. I found out afterwards, after I did ask for my receipt and bill, I was charged $4.95 (pricey) for an iced tea, and a 3% surcharge, and some other surcharge as well. I got wings and found out I had to pay $1.00 per small cup of extra sauce; sauce and blue cheese dressing, total: $2.00. I figure, possibly, if a restaurant tells you how much you owe with no itemized bill, it makes me think "what charges are they hiding". I feel the merchant should pay the 3% surcharge (from what I understand their bank bills them) I really felt angry and ripped off. I will not, and other friends of mine I have told, will not go back to Alabi until they change these features. read more

As far as gay bars go on Wilton Drive, the Alibi is reliable. There are several staff members my girlfriend and I have great rapport with (hi Mattie & Jose!), and the food and drinks have never been a letdown. Their '2 for 1' with different colored chips indicating type of drink is lovely, and for a run-of-the-mill bar, the vast variety of food options are really solid. I love that there's designated smoking and non-smoking sections for the outdoor seating as well. However -- I would rather pee outside than use their bathrooms. It truly is an 'absolute emergency' situation that inspires me to think about showering the moment I get home. Lack of cleanliness aside -- the truly unfortunate reason for the 2-star rating relates to the bathroom attendant. On a previous occasion, the attendant stopped my girlfriend because she didn't tip him. This time, he upped his game by unplugging the UV hand dryer and asking patrons to give him tips for paper towels. Truly egregious. Will I stop coming? Nah. It's a welcoming bar and I never feel judged for being a lesbian in a neighborhood that is 95% gay men (thanks, y'all). I just will make sure I don't use the facilities whenever I visit. read more
