Please do yourself a favor and Do Not visit this place. Our car was damaged inside and out after they replaced our windshield. My car was involved in a rear end accident. I called nearly 20 shops near me that wouldn't even give me an estimate until January/February. They took my car in on 11/22. From start to finish the customer service was A+. I got a call every Tuesday and Thursday from Jess. She would give me an update, even if there was nothing new to report. She made it personal and that did not go unnoticed! While originally thought this could take months, the staff at this location diligently searched for my parts and my car was brand new again in 30 days! Just in time for Christmas. I had some damage to my car from the bad snow storm on Veterans Day this year. My car was towed over to Gerber. It took 9-10 days but there quite a bit to do including painting a bumper. When I got my car back, they had done a beautiful job. The exterior was perfect. My car was sparkling, clean and looked brand new. They even cleaned the interior. They communicated with me during and kept me posted. When I picked up, the ladies in the office where polite and friendly. The gentleman that brought my car around explained what they did and some car care for the next month due to paint. All around I had a great experience and I would use this location again. Josh was professional and friendly. He repaired the windshield on our Honda Odyssey. He delivered on his time quote of an hour and fifteen minutes from start to finish. He explained the entire process clearly and efficiently. He was a great representative of this company. When pricing it out, we told them a competitor quoted a little bit less, so they gave us a discount that brought the price just a shade lower! That's great service. Very poor knowledge and capabilities to their services. Called and spoke to employee that assured me that they work on Cadillacs(ct6) and it was a lye. They held my car for 1 week and received a call from the estimator that claimed they spoke with prior auto body of the tools needs and they failed to listen, hence she said they could not fix my car and I found out they are not certified to work on CT6 caddys. From start to finish, Gerber Collision was the BEST! Amanda was very professional and helpful when I first called to set up a time for an estimate and each time I was in the shop for any reason. My estimator, Mark, took his time and explained everything on the estimate and even though I was getting text updates on a regular basis, Mark called me twice a week with more detailed information on what was going on. My Jeep was relatively new when I got rear ended by a semi, and I was worried it wasn't going to look as good when repaired, but it's perfect AND completed a day early! I walked in there to get an estimate, without an appointment. Immediately, the woman behind the desk seemed very inconvenienced and was quite rude from the start. I felt as if she was extremely condescending while talking to me. I actually asked her at one point during the conversation to please not talk to me like I was five years old. I called Gerber to replace my driver's side window a few years ago when my car was broken into. First, the only option they offered me was to send a technician out to repair the window. I would have rather drove my car to the shop, due to the fact I had a garbage bag on my window - but they advised that it wasn't an option. The 1st technician came out and "repaired" the window. They made a notation that the window fram was slightly bent, but that the window was fixed. I thought nothing of the notation - assuming that they make you sign off on the invoice so you can't blame them later for previous damage. No problem. About a week or so later, the window "came loose" off the track, and would not roll up properly. I called Gerber back, and they sent another technician out. Once he examined the window - he shook his head and said "The idiot that came out before used the wrong type of rivets - this is a GM car". No worries I thought - this guy seems to know what he's doing and will fix it. Window was installed properly again - and no issues. Now, two years later the window is falling into the door again. Normally, after two years - I would cough it up to my bad luck........however the technicians, and my invoice, reference a "lifetime warranty on all work performed". A window properly installed should never fall into your window or be "offtrack". Here is the guarantee they reference: Our Guarantee "We stand behind every repair we complete. That's why Gerber Collision & Glass is proud to offer a Lifetime Guarantee on all of our work. For as long as you own the vehicle, you can rest assured that should anything happen to the repair we completed, we'll make it right." Here's where the frustration actually begins. I called customer service and got the following responses" 1. "The invoice says that your window frame was bent so that voids the warranty. Sorry". OK - why would you install a window into a defective frame - then charge for the repair? 2. "Yes we have a lifetime warranty on all our work - can I schedule an appointment for you". Said I would call back with a good time. 3. Called back - "Lifetime warranty only applies to windshields - not driver side windows". No where does it mention this, and after calling corporate never received a copy of the warranty in detail. 4. "It's not covered - sorry - it's probably the motor and those eventually go out". No - the motor works fine - the window goes up and down - but it's off track due to the shoddy installation. I can't specifically comment that it was the Crystal Lake branch, because they send people out to you - but their corporate customer service is poor. Crystal Lake is just the closest branch to me, but it could have been somewhere else. I will never use Gerber again for anything. With no car knowledge, I'll be repairing my window myself this weekend, and probably do a better job than the people that were sent. I'd also like to add - I understand that a lot of time has gone by from when it was first serviced and that my car is 7 years old. I don't expect Gerber to be responsible for anything/everything that might go wrong with my driver's side window for all eternity just because they replaced the window at one point. The problem is that the issue that I have now is directly related to the installation. Car windows do not "come unscrewed" from their track every two years. If they came out and showed me that the motor is faulty, etc. I would pay them for the time and accept that. I also understand that there are people who will complain and try to get "free stuff" regardless of how good the service was. I am not one of those people. If I get bad food, or bad service - typically I won't spend time online bashing the company - I just simply won't go back or use them again. However, every time that I now get into my car and find it wet, or try to roll the window, want to get my car washed but can't, or hear one of their radio commericals boasting of their exceptional service - I think of Gerber and the fact that at the end of the day - the issue wasn't fixed. It only "temporarily" held up until their "statute of limitations" on service expired. I don't think it's too much to ask that your window roll up and down when needed. Bottom line - you might use Gerber and have a flawless experience. However if something ultimately goes wrong - you'll likely have to "fight" and argue with them to get any recourse. I don't expect them to say "Yes" to every mad customer, because you can't please everyone - however I would expect them to honor their warranty when there is an issue directly related to their work (especially when at the end of the day we are talking about 20 min. of work and couple screws.) read more

Had rear quarter panel damage from a guy backing into me. Gerber Collision was recommended by the insurance carrier, and I am glad they were. Outstanding service. The repair was flawless. I appreciate the fact that the company kept me informed every step of the repair process via text and phone calls. The inside of the office could use a good dusting and the trash containers emptied, but that is minor as the work they do on autos' is absolutely outstanding. They have my recommendation. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I have had work done on my car here a few times previously, but this location has become the worst. I worked with Joe C throughout and his communication and follow through are horrible. After picking up my car, I noticed a new door ding which wasn't there when I dropped it off , so they fixed that on the spot but then I drove off only to have my car on the side if the road a very short time later. It seems that the subcontractor that they hired , failed to repair and reconnect a part if the cooling system coreectly which was damaged. I had to have my car towed to the dealership to have it repaired the right way. When Joe C was alerted to this, he only blamed the subcontractor that HE hired but said he would look into it and get back to me. After a week, I called him back because he never respinsed. He was then going to call the dealer and find out about the reason and car rental charges which were incurred. This was escalated to his GM who also never responded apparently because I had to call back yet again 2 weeks later and remind him. Bottom line, my car was returned incomplete, broke down because shotty work from a substandard subcontractor that Gerber hired to do their work and I was out of my car for another 5 days while it was being repaired the right way. Again, I can not say strongly enough to STAY AWAY FROM HERE! Bad work, terrible communication and the worst customer service I've ever seen from Joe C and this location! read more

We have used Gerber twice for repairs to our vehicles. The quality of work is very good. Gerber showed us a committment to resolve any concerns we had. They are very good with customer service and worked with us to meet our expectations. They also have an arrangement with a rental car company to keep cars on site which made our experiences as smooth as they could be under the circumstances. I have been rear ended 3 times in the past 10 years. I took my car to Gerber the 1st time and loved the work they did on it. The 2nd time, I took it to another shop where a friend of mine worked and was not very pleased with the work that was done. Seemed almost amateurish compared to Gerber. I was just hit again on 10/31/13 and took it back to Gerber. I dropped the car off on Tuesday and got it back on Wednesday. Extrememly pleased with the work and the speed in which they did it. Highly recommend this to anyone who needs auto body repair or aout glass repair. The staff was supper friendly and informative in every way, from getting a quote to picking up my car. I was told 2 weeks for the repair which was expected considering the amount of damage, I received a text message and a call every Tuesday and Thursday informing me of their progress which ended up being done in half the time, ONLY 1 WEEK! How hard is it to schedule a simply windshield replacement? Apparently extremely difficult with this place.... I scheduled the work one week in advance only to have the technician call me and say he couldn't do the work because snow was coming into the area. I didn't have room in my garage so we rescheduled for next week. Only then I get a call from someone else saying that the store returned the windshield to the manufacturer because the technician didn't reschedule the work in the system. So for 3 weeks I am waiting for this work to be done, mean while the crack in my window is getting bigger and bigger, only to get a call basically asking if I want to reschedule. Seriously? Maybe offer to send someone out on MY TIME instead of yours? Or something, instead just a simply, "Hey sorry, but do you still want to wait around for our next available appointment?" What a joke. Save your time and energy and go with safe lite or some other company that is a bit more professional. read more

I walked in just to have my car appraised for the body damage, I had no clue I had to make a appointment, I wouldn't of minded it. But the person at the front desk made the most rude and most unprofessional gesture when I said I didn't have a appointment and was gonna pay for my car out of pocket. When I started to walk out she claimed that "I can probably have someone appraise your car in 45-1 hour" I told her no thank you and left. I wasn't gonna wait that long for someone to "maybe" look at my car and most likely give me a stupidly high price. Rude and unprofessional people. read more

We took our truck in in the beginning of March. The initial completion date was 8 March. The completion date has been delayed several times. It's the 26th of March and these guys are still trying to repair the truck. My husband went in yesterday to pick it up and the manager told him that they didn't fix the problem that the truck was initially brought in for. These mechanics don't give a damn that my husband has been trying to get home to Las Vegas for the past month and waiting on them to fix it. Now we are missing a holiday together (Easter) because these guys don't know how to do their job. The manager, Enoch, promised he'd take care of us because he's a veteran and so are me and my husband. This is not how veterans take care of each other. Do not take your car here unless you can handle being lied to, waiting 3 weeks for your vehicle and poor service. We are still waiting for our car. Worst service ever. read more

The cust service agent I worked with was grumpy though and did not explain the process well and seemed almost reluctant to share anything with customer. I got into an accident Jan 2016, two cars collided and then struck me on my front end and driver side. Towed my car to Gerber per the insurance company. They took 7 weeks and 4 days to repair my car. Gerbar called March11th stating that my car was ready and they were just waiting for the insurance company to approve the cost. Come 4 days later I received a phone call from the insurance company asking if I received my car as they had approved, I stated that I did not. So I called Gerber back 9am March 15th and spoke to Linda, I asked about the status of my car. She stated that it was ready to be picked up, all that was needed to be done vacuum/car wash. I told her that I would be there that day around 5:00p to pick up my car. I also called around 4:45p letting them know I'd be about 10 minutes later due to traffic. I get to Gerber at 5:20p and spoke with Linda again asking about my car. She went in back for about 5 minutes then came back up to the front with the GM and some guy. He stated that my car was ready but the problem is they still needed to clean it. I was told 5 days prior that was my car was ready, I had called 8 hours earlier that day and 45 minutes before hand notifying them I would be picking up my car and they STILL didn't have it done. I was very frustrated by this. It's been about 4 weeks since I picked up my car and the wheel bearing is bad. They installed a used aftermarket part on my car, I was told this by my own mechanic. He even showed me the inch of play on the wheel so I called Gerber Saturday April 16th letting them know they need to fix their work. I was told they would order the part, they'd call me sometime during the week to schedule repair. On April 22nd I called them to inquire the status of the ordered part. I spoke to the GM and he bluntly told me they completely forgot to order the part. I told him that I need the car fixed now, I can't continue getting rides to work 20 miles away. He asked why I wasn't driving my car. I stated to him that my mechanic said it was dangerous to be driving my car in the condition that it's in, that the wheel is wobbly. He stated, and I quote, "Well, wheels move". Oh really? A wheel moving side to side in a 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock position is perfectly normal to be driving on. I am a woman and to be spoken to like I am a complete idiot is extremely frustrating. He asked me when I would like to bring my car in, I stated today at 5:15pm. He then said, "Tomorrow Morning?" NO, TODAY!! He then stated that he can have my car done by Monday April 25th. I go in to drop my car off and then I am told that if they receive the part by Monday they will have it done. I call Monday morning to see if my car was done and it was not. I stated that I need a rental car, I pick up later that day. I get a phone call 9a Tuesday my car is done. So I pick up my car, I received no documentation that I had the bearing fixed. I call back a couple days later b/c I'm still experiencing a clunking/thumping noise when driving and feel it in my steering wheel. I call Gerber, spoke to some guy about the prob. I go in later that day and spoke to the GM. He states that it's probably the power steering fluid/pump to continue driving on it. Last week, May 18th I went back into Gerber, had the GM drive with me b/c this problem is still persisting. It does it a few times but he didn't hear it so I got out had him drive. The car didn't do it the 4 minutes he drove except for when we pulled back into the parking lot. I felt it on the passenger side and he stated that he didn't hear or feel it. So he pulled back out and back in again to see if the car would make the sound/feeling, it did not. Since he couldn't feel/hear it he couldn't diagnose the problem. He said that he would let me come back in for a few hours and put the car back up on the lift to make sure everything is tightened/bolted down and he would do this free of charge. I said no, I've spent SO MUCH OF MY TIME on this crap, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! It's been a week since I was there and I had a couple buddies take a look. Turns out the lug nut on my tie rod was completely loose! You could move it with your fingers. I am lucky I didn't get into an accident with the way they neglected to make sure EVERYTHING was fixed on my car before returning it to me TWICE! They, too, are lucky because I would've gone at them like a spider monkey with a lawsuit. Why Gerber didn't make sure everything was tightened when they fixed it the first or even the SECOND time is beyond me. The guy could've looked at it right after he drove it and he would've noticed the problem. Would have took him 30 seconds to do this. When it comes to their customers satisfaction and, most importantly, SAFETY they completely fail. I will NEVER trust my car in their hands, ever. read more
