I stopped in to look at a car that I saw out front when I was driving by in the morning. I went in to ask how much it was and found that it was way over market value. When I started to tell them, they started to give me BS reasons why it was over market value. "It's clean " and "when we plug it into our system"this is the price they go for". There's nothing more I hate than bad faith sales practices. I looked up the car on Carfax later and found out that it has accidents on top of it. That is not the definition of a clean car. They were mind blown the engine of my car didn't come out while driving. Same issues i spoke to them and have documented with in 90 days of purchasing the vehicle, that they could never seem to fix or find the problem. I brought my Corvette in for a fairly minor recall, which was an online update. Ralph, the service writer, took me back to meet Paul, the Corvette Guru, and gave me a tour of the place. He said that, worst case, the update would take 60 - 90 minutes. I walked to a nearby restaurantGot for a little lunch. GOt a call while eating that my car was ready. Well it's no surprise after checking yelps reviews that I've had the experience here that I have. I only wish that I had read some of these before making my purchase. In December 2020, I purchased a used 2018 Chevy Traverse. Since it was used, I also purchased the extended warranty and five point inspection. Pretty much no sooner than leaving, I started having issues with the car. My check engine light came on so I made an appointment, dropped off my car, and was given a loaner. Shortly after, the service department called me and said it was just a censor and the problem was fixed. I drove back to pick up my and went on my way. The next day, my check engine light came back on. I head back to the service department with the same issue I came in with the day before. Turns out it's a bad relay switch. Two days later I leave my house in the rain and turn on my wipers. NOTHING. I look in the mirror and see my back wiper is going- windshield wipers were reversed. Third time to the service department in two days. That was the start of many problems and lies. Unfortunately, there are far too many to talk about from loud banging noises under the front end, my vehicle smelling like gas, feeling like I'm being rear ended on long drives, etc. These concerns have been brought up to the service team on multiple occasions but no one can ever seem to find any issues. I even sent an email to the service manager about these concerns. Some addressed, others not. He personally drove and inspected my car and found nothing wrong with any of my long term complaints. Naturally, I brought my vehicle in two days ago to have an issue looked at. I was made aware that my warranty had expired, 77000 miles or 12/25, whichever came first. The issue turned out to be a bad evaporation purge valve. Suspected that was the issue beforehand so that was no surprise. The surprise came when I received an almost 7k quote of all the things found wrong with my vehicle, conveniently after my warranty expired, including the cause of what has been making the noise under my car. I was quoted for several items, the biggest being an almost $4000 job- an oil leak. I have never once seen a drop of oil on my garage floor. Odd. I decided to take my car to another, highly recommended, auto shop for a second opinion. I requested they do a full inspection and the to take a look at the particular items that I was told needed repair/replacement. SUPRISE! No oil leak. Out of the 8 suggested repairs only two of them are needed. The evap purge valve and the control arms that are the cause of the noise in the front of my vehicle that I have been complaining about for 2.5 years, while still under my extended warranty. Needless to say, I saved myself $5,600. This was the absolute worst purchase I have ever made. I have brought my car in with issues more these past few years than I have had to with all of cars collectively. After a few months of looking we finally found the car we wanted here at Martin Chevrolet. We had a specific car in mind. It had to be a 16 or 17 Tahoe and it had to be white or gray. We found several in the Chicago land area but ended up walking away due to poor customer service. After almost giving up our search we found 2 Tahoes. One 15 minutes in Naperville and the other more than one hour away in Crystal Lake at Martin Chevrolet. Both dealerships were professional but Martin Chevrolet was the most transparent. Our salesman Martin Arliskas was great. He was very patient and did not try to force us into buying the car; like all the other dealerships we went too. He listened to what we had to say and worked with us to obtain an agreement. He was very transparent and showed us the Car-fax and all the maintenance that was done to the vehicle. He provided us copies of all paper work before purchase. Other Chevy dealerships had a hard time providing this to us. Adam also took the time to pair our iPhones to the car and go over all the functions and safety features the car came with. I can't say enough about my experience here. After an unfortunate run-in with a deer, we were in the position of having to replace a car. We have spent two months researching cars and visiting various dealerships in search of something that fit our criteria. We encountered so many shady dealerships and unpleasant sales people along the way and were even unable to find what we wanted on Carvana. We visited Martin Chevrolet a couple of times to look at cars, and they were always very helpful, gracious and responsive. Not once did we ever feel pressured to make a purchase we were not ready to make, nor did they try to run any sales games on us. We were poised to buy a car at another dealership, but their sales games started to make us really uncomfortable, so in the meantime we went back to Martin to test drive a couple more vehicles. We began to see some glaring differences between the other dealership and Martin... so much so that even though we thought we had found the right car at the other place, we felt compelled to drop that deal to keep working with Martin simply because of the the clean, professional way that they did business. Our patience paid off because we got even better than what we were going to purchase at the other dealership. Jack Lazarra was so responsive and helpful and made the whole experience a pleasure. We were treated respectfully and we did not have to jump through any hoops to get the deal done. The service department and the finance department also did a fantastic job. For close to 10 years I've been using this dealership. Recently the experience has went downhill. Most recent experience: Scheduled a appointment for 8am Monday morning. Arrived at 7:50am, explained what I was there for. I was told diagnostic charge and it would take 1 to 1.5 hours so I waited. Slightly a little over 3 hours later I was informed of what was needed, the approximate cost and was told specifically it would take two days. I agreed and asked if they would call when done or if anything else changes. Answer was "yes". I received a text telling me to let them know if I needed anything, great I responded twice to the text with no response. Called and was transferred twice. On Friday, yes four days and four hours after leaving the service department I was informed that they finished without so much as an apology. This was not the first time that I have experienced something similar from here. It is too bad that they just don't or won't set proper expectations up front or at the very least keep you informed along the way. Had I known this up front I would've made arrangements for a rental car. I can no longer in good conscience recommend this service department. read more

We talked to a sales rep on the phone, the day before to let them know we planned on coming in first thing in the morning to test drive the 2019 Chevy Equinox premium edition and most likely purchase it. We got there 20 minutes after opening and they had dealer plates on it and were sending it to another dealership saying it was sold. Two days later they call and say the deal didn't go through. So, because we really wanted that one, we came in the next day to check it out and purchased it. 2. We purchased the paint Protectant for $1200 and found out it can be only applied 1 more time after 5 years within a 30 day window. 3. Boy, We should have stayed away after our first dealing with Martin Chevrolet was negative. However, my husband liked the car and wanted to give them a second try, so we did. Everything was going fine until we came back from another dealership to buy the vehicle and close the deal. However, Martin didn't have the color we wanted on the lot. That wasn't the problem. The problem was we were told by our salesperson they would have to contact another dealership and we would have to call on Monday to see if this was possible. We were there on a Saturday. I was like uh no get your manager. I felt since they say they treat you like family, that they would take care of us. The manager came over and told us they were too busy and the other dealership might be busy as well. I looked around and saw salespeople on their phones and others sitting at a desk, shooting the crap. Yep they were busy. So I ended our business with Martin and drove to Castle Chevrolet who did call another dealership for us to make sure we were taken care of properly. Terrible service - I brought my car in for a simple repair and they had it all day, I had to call them to get an update and turned out they never looked at it. I brought it back and they had it all day again and said they needed to order the microphone for the radio. I brought it back a 3rd day and can't get an answer on the status, they put me on hold twice for over 10 minutes. I have requested a call back on the status and can't get a single person to tell me anything. Absolutely incompetent. Avoid at all costs. I was told this is a simple quick repair, yet they can't even accomplish that. Glad I don't have a bigger issue. I went there to get my car since no one would answer me and they informed me they lost the key. I was told it would get fixed right away and a replacement key would be made. Viewed a Tahoe on the internet advertised as "certified" with a price. Once I visited the dealership and sat down with the finance manager, the "advertised" price did not include the certification, If I wanted the vehicle certified, the truck would cost another $2,000. There was also an additional "add-on" for pinstripping and door guards. However, these items were on the vehicle in the picture on the internet. Not sure how it seems right to show the vehicle in a picture and advertise it as certified and then add $2,500 to the price of it when you visit to purchase. Vehicle also had a plug in one of the tires in the sidewall - although it passed "certification". Waste of time for the visit and I will not return. Buyer Beware. read more

My wife Jasmine and I called ahead to signal our interest in a 2023 Toyota Prius Prime SE that Martin Chevy had. When we arrived they had the vehicle out front and ready for a test drive. We worked with AJ Chiodo, so if you go there be sure to ask for him. He was willing to work with us on cutting the price down a bit, even though we were paying cash for it (lost interest payments for a dealer), which we greatly appreciated. All said and done we paid about $2000 or 6.1% over MSRP for the car, which is in high demand and not very available across the US. This does not include all the dealership fees and all the rest, which would be expected most places with a newer model car. We also didn't have to deal directly with a Toyota dealership and their up-sale BS, so I saw that as a huge plus. In addition to the car, Martin Chevy offers free oil changes and car washes for as long as you own the car. Unfortunately for us, we live in Evanston and the dealership in is Crystal Lake, so we're probably not going to go out there very often. read more

We were out of there within 2hours pleased as can be. Working with the "finance guy" in any dealership is another depressing aspect. Working with James Dunn in finance was a breeze. To leave a dealership smiling, and feeling good about the transaction and not "worn out and exhausted" is like a breath of fresh air. Surprised by the negative reviews here, I had an awesome experience. I didn't purchase my car here, but brought it into this service location to have an ignition recall taken care of. They fixed the ignition, topped off all the fluids, adjusted the tire pressure and reset the tire pressure monitor, and a car wash - all FO' FREE! I also let them place their license plate frame on my car in exchange for a wash club membership - more free car washes! These folks don't mess around and definitely won a customer today. read more
