Thanks to my Geico rep, my time at Gerber was smooth, easy and pretty darn quick. They did a good job replacing my driver's side door after I was hit in a minor collision. The door was replaced and they matched up the color perfectly and returned my car cleaner than when I dropped it off. Thanks y'all! My one complaint is about the abusive use of plug-in fragrance in the customer service lobby. I found it hard to breath both times I was there dropping off and picking up my car. My guess is that there is some underlying plumbing issue that they are trying to hide. not sure. read more

Initially, Gerber Staff on S Carrolton seemed compentent; however, I am living a nightmare getting Stephanie and her Manager to resolve an issue. It has been 3 months and no follow up or return calls. She took several pictures to show her Manager & neither has exhibited any efforts to resolve or provide a positive Customer Service experience. A few weeks ago an inconsiderate driver backed into my truck and drove off while it was parked on the street. I'm not talking about a little paint scraping here. This driver made a BIG dent in my truck. Did this driver leave their information behind or a simple note saying "I'm sorry"....hell no! They just went on their merry way. If this driver would have just knocked on my door or left a note with their phone number I would have been perfectly ok with the accident. Stuff happens. That's why you carry insurance. Needless to say I had to go through my insurance to pay for the damage. I was referred to Champ's by my insurance company. Champ's staff, from the first time going there, were very professional and nice. I left my truck there on the first day and I picked it up 8 days later (was originally told it would take 10 days). They had it looking just as it did before the accident. I was really impressed!! The total for parts and labor was rather cheap considering the damage. They charged me $5002.14. Someone hit my side door. I took it to Gerber Collision & Glass on Carrollton and I'm so happy I did. Everyone was super friendly, which was appreciated during a stressful time. Everyone from the nice ladies at the front desk, to Demond, who was patient and thorough when explaining the damages to me. AND, to make matters even better, I received text alerts informing me of the repair progress, every step of the way. And the icing on the cake? They had my car fixed more than TWO WEEKS earlier than what they initially quoted me. That saved me two weeks on the rental car! Speaking of rental car, these guys have a great, convenient operation going on in that parking lot: Enterprise Rental Car is just a stones throw away! Same lot. Very convenient. Not my first experience with Gerber, but I'm pretty certain, this was the first body work repairs I've had done with Gerber. I was sent there for a vehicle inspection from my insurance provider following an accident. Because all I had to pay was a deductible, I can't really speak to pricing. After arriving, I waited less than 3 minutes before the inspection started. The individual who conducted my inspection became my point of contact from the beginning to the end when I picked up my car. Following the inspection, I was walked over to the rent-a-car lot and he explained to the agent what I needed, who I was, and how long I'd likely need a rental. From the time I arrived to the time I was driving away in a rental was less than 20 minutes. I left with a bi-fold of which contained my Gerber contact, my rental car contact, and all pertinent information. As work was done on my car, I received daily alerts via text. There were often links in the text that I could click on for more details. My car was completed a day ahead of anticipated completion, and the work was exemplary. The damage I had wasn't severe, but it was a lot of cosmetic, and Gerber did an excellent job, not only matching the paint but also restoring perfect lines. The interior of my car was 200% cleaner than when I dropped it off. Not even Subaru does that for me. If I wasn't already satisfied and pleasantly surprised; it was raining as I left the location, and I immediately realized that they had replaced my wiper blades. I think that sums it up in a nutshell. It was never discussed, or in the fine print; Gerber went above and beyond and didn't have to. read more

Providing an update from after the initial debacle. I ended up receiving a call from Doug Campbell of Gerber Collision, who apologized for my experience. He was much more understanding of the situation when I explained it on the phone, which could maybe be attributed in part to kissing up, but I feel like he genuinely understood the silliness of bringing a car in to get a non-visible problem looked at for a quote. In order to be realistic/honest I still have to take that initial experience into account, but I'm raising my rating to because of the follow-up call. read more

I called Gerber last week to see about arranging an estimate for my car and was told to bring in my car anytime. So I brought it in and was asked about my appointment. I told them that I was told that wouldn't be necessary and to bring it in whenever. The front desk associate didn't seem to believe me and seemed extremely put out that I was there. Her tone was very rude and she talked down to me. I won't be going back for an estimate let alone any work based on her attitude alone. I would have been happy to come back at a different time with an appointment but the desk associate clearly had a "we're too busy for this" attitude. From my experience stores/shops that are too busy to speak to potential customers respectfully don't do good work. If she was that busy here is an easy phrase that would have been much more appropriate than the way she spoke to me. "Please excuse me, I have another (call/customer/issue) I need to attend to. We're sorry about the mixup. Would you be able to take a seat for a few minutes or can I quickly take your full name and phone number so we can call you back later and schedule an appointment?" See how easy that is? Instead of huffing and puffing that you have to take the time to schedule an appointment for a customer while making catty comments the entire time. Hard pass. Not that you guys need the business as your front desk made clear today. read more

State Farm suggested I use Gerber after my Kia Telluride was severely damaged in NOLA. I found the folks at the Carrollton Ave. location to be professional, courteous, friendly and helpful. Demond honestly told me it would probably take a month to make all of the necessary repairs. They got it done in 3 weeks and the car looks great. They did a prompt and precise job repairing my rear driver's side door after a collision, but they stole the $3 emergency cash I had in the console. The worst experience and biggest mistake of my life was to go to Gerber collision. They have literally become my worst nightmare. September 23, 2022 someone runs a light and hits me t-bone style on the front driver side. As a "selected" company of my state farm insurance, I chose them. The pick up my car October 3, 2022, They do not begin any type of repairs until November, I'm told only "cosmetic" damages and a fuse needs replacing...I think easy enough the insurance pays them they send me off with my car. I have to leave town the next morning for a week. I only drove my car home from the shop but when I return home it starts, but every light on the dashboard is on, while driving the car acts like its about to die until I get across town to work and it eventually dies and will not restart. I contact Gerber and initially they did not even want to look at it just brushed it off as being the battery. Side note, I am now dealing with a second manager who has replaced the one who was there when my car was taken in and the only individual I had been receiving communication from. I literally have to have this new manager contact the old for him to tell him contact State Farm and look at the car. So he does. They take in my car and he calls a "buddy" at Nissan Premiere and instead of running a diagnostic they decide from what I'm describing its the battery. Never mind me telling him I had just replaced the battery a month before my accident happen I didn't think that was it. They take my car for two weeks and I have to call for an update them tell me its ready to pick up without every saying what was wrong or showing me paperwork of what they did. I had to demand to speak with the manager to get an answer and he claimed it was the battery like they thought. I leave, drive home and to work the next morning and the same issue happens again. I take it back. He has my car sets me up with a rental says he will have it towed to Nissan Premiere for a diagnostic (what was supposed to happen the first time). After a week of no communication I have to literally drive to gerber to speak with anyone...every time I called no one was ever available. On top of that NOTHING had been done to my car. This second manager tells me how he has "a guy" with "a machine" he's going to hook up to my car to see what's going on...Long story short they come back with the issue being an air flow system box that needed to be replaced. He had it replaced and my car was "ready." During this time I'm in a rental he has now agreed to pay because I had to involve state farm to communicate with Gerber because they had become difficult to contact. State Farm told him directly they were taking too long to repair my vehicle and would be responsible for rental car payment until they at the very least diagnose what's wrong. At this point there is now a third manager involved. After picking up my car on a friday, sunday while driving home from church with my 5year old son my car dies on the highway. The most terrifying feeling ever! This third manager Christian is a total in behavior towards me and anything to do with my vehicle. Again I have to take time off and go to the location and sit and wait in the lobby until he would speak to me. It was complete chaos because they agreed to take my vehicle in and when the tow truck company shows up to Gerber they refuse to take it. An entire week goes by before I am contacted by STATE FARM the tow company wants to know what to do with my vehicle because gerber refused it. All this time I'm thinking my car is being repaired. On top of that Gerber/Christian has denied to pay for my rental even though Tony agreed. I forgot to mention when my car was being taken back to them for a 4th time I was setup to be in a rental at enterprise while there they said that previous rental had not been closed out. We has to call christian from the enterprise the manager spoke with him and he told the manager he was going to pay and allow me to rent a new vehicle...enterprise did not allow me to rent a car with the previous account still open. State farm set me up with Hertz. I ultimately had to get my car towed to Supreme Nissan, 40minutes away, for them to diagnose that that air flow system Gerber "replaced" was malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. Nissan said they couldn't say directly that happened due to an accident, because its now seven months and four returns to Gerber after the accident occurred. In combination there were major repairs needed AS A RESULT OF AN ACCIDENT THAT MY CAR WAS TAKEN TO GERBER FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE that needed to be repaired. My jaw hit the floor. I took my car to two more mechanical shops to confirm and it was true. I had Nissan contact State Farm and their response was to take it back to Gerber, my living nightmare. I said no. Nissan was able to repair, the most important part, covered under my vehicle warranty, they replace that box, I paid for. read more

This place is the worst!! I had a minor fender bender and drove to this repair shop for an estimate, recommended by my insurance carrier. When I arrived, I was asked if I had an appointment when I arrived and I replied that I did not. I was informed that I would need an appointment to have the vehicle looked at and the next available appointment would be in 3 weeks. No attempt to accommodate me at all. Called to get a quote to replace a rear hatch and person on the phone would not give me one, repeatedly asked me for insurance information despite me telling her that was settled months ago and is not relevant, I just want a quote to decide where I want to go. Kept asking about insurance check and not responding to what I explained and why I called her. Finally said she can't give a quote over the phone, (though other places have given me one), said I have to come in. Would not trust this place based on this conversation and her being non-service oriented. read more

Gerber Collision (formerly Champ's) was suggested to me by Niki M., but I was also getting my Vehicle Inspection by Geico there, so when they assessed the damage and provided me with a check, I turned it over to Champ's. We dropped off my car on Thurs July 23 and it was ready by Aug 3. I wasn't in a rush, and I believe there were a few parts that had to be repaired, so this timeframe worked out just fine for me. The work looks so incredibly good. Now Rhonda the Honda has a "good side". Like everyone had said, my car was cleaned and detailed which I don't even know what was in it before I dropped it off, but my boyfriend said that's the cleanest he has ever seen it! They had informed me that it ended up costing more than the vehicle inspection but that they were able to talk to the insurance company to make sure the costs were covered. The part that really makes this company for me is that after I had pulled away, I got a phone call from them informing me that the owner had seen that one of my brake lights were out and that he'd replace the bulb even though it had nothing to do with the side that was fixed. I wasn't far so I came back (though they close at 5:30 and it was 5:35ish), and they replaced the bulb for free in less than 5 minutes. I mean...a shady collision company would see this as a potential for some future work if I got hit, but he even said, "I'd hate for you to get in an accident not having your brake light working." I really appreciate that, and will make sure to suggest them to friends for any work needed to be done. read more

I called Gerber Collision & Glass and a male worker told me that they have an overflow of business at this time. They have to move cars to get to other cars behind those cars once their client says they are ready for the work to be done or now have found a way to pay for the work they have done. I told him that I am in no rush, so he may put my car in the back until he lets me know they have time to do the work on my car. He was very nice and told me that he could help hold my car on their lot until they find time to work on it. I figured I could make payments to any estimate they give to me while my car waits. I received a call, two or three days later, from a nice-sounding young lady who has informed me that they will not be able to do the work on my car because they do not repair windows. I told her that I see their website, which says they do widow work and the gentleman I spoke with there informed me that they do all work. He told me to call after Mardi Gras and he would find a spot to place my car until you all can get to it, due to the many jobs you have to do now. She then changed her reason that they can not do any work on my car from they do not do windshields to, the advertisement or the website is misleading, but they actually do not do windows. The next reason she gave was, we do not have the size windshields your car requires. She gave me a number to the glass place they purchase their windows from and asked that I take my car there. It is down the street from their company. So I have to pay more money to tow my car to get the windows repaired separately then attempt to bring it back to them to have other repairs I need. I would be wasting more money towing my car to get each thing fixed if I move my car now. I do not know why they do not want to do any work on my car. I think a courtroom would be able to figure it out for us because the only reason any company should be able to deny anyone business is if I have done anything to disrespect them. They both spoke nicely, but the actions of the end results are not going too well. I see reviews from other people of my skin tone, so they will use that in court to prove they do not discriminate, but we will just have to see. Do they do minor work for people of my color every now and then, just to say they do not discriminate? Have they ever done any large jobs for people of my skin tone when it is not being paid for by insurance companies? It may not be the color of my skin. It may be that they only do jobs for cars that are being paid for by insurance companies. How many jobs have they ever done for poor people who pay out of pocket? This is how the poor stay poor. These big companies, after they have grown to have lots of business, help to keep poor people down. We never know what they are doing to all of us who are trying to make it in this world if we never spread the word of the things they do to keep us poor. Glass is in their name. A couple of weeks ago, my car got side swiped while parked in front of my apartment. Apparently this is a common occurrence in Nola and I've definitely noticed how banged up the cars are around here. Anyhow, my insurance company sent me to Champs and I thought the front desk ladies were very professional and helpful. The person who did my estimate was thorough and informative about the damage. I left my car there that day and Enterprise Rental Cars is conveniently located next door and I went on my merry way in a craptastic Hyundai (with manual windows - remember those relics? I didn't even know cars were still made with such primitive architecture.) I didn't think the damage was $3K+ worth, nor would it take 17 days (including weekends and it was over Thanksgiving) - but I'm no mechanic so I don't want to unfairly judge. I got sideswiped while I was parked, and I took my car to Champs. Most of the time, the employees were friendly and they were always helpful. The repair looked about as good as new. I took my car here a second time after a boot patron decided it would be a good idea to rocket their mom's SUV into space, using the hood of my car as a launch pad. Unfortunately, they ultimately decided that my car had flat-lined and it was not ethical to repair, so I only have the one experience with body work. However, they were fairly friendly and professional both times. If need more body work I will probably take it here. read more

I usually would not review a service until it was complete but my experience this morning prompted me to change that practice. Had a 9:00 am appt. to have my car inspected for some collision damage. Front desk staff was friendly and professional. I was greeted promptly at 9:00 am by Mike D.(Geico) and Rebecca F.(Champs). We walked outside to inspect the vehicle, discussed options, then went inside to complete paperwork. Once that was completed, Mike escorted me across parking lot to the Enterprise office where Mike had already set up a rental for me. I was in and out of there before I knew it. I was greeted at 9:00am and I pulled up in my parking lot at my office in my rental at 9:25am. I could not have asked for more courteous, professional and quicker service. So I am really pro all things Midcity, but I just had a terrible experience here. I took my 2007 Hyundai Sonata in to have a quote for the driver side mirror to be replaced (someone took it off in parking lot). Anyway, quote came out to be just under 400 dollars. First off, I do not know the first thing about fixing/repairing automobiles. Although, I thought this quote was high I was still going schedule the repair. However, I wanted to look up the mirror replacement part to see if I could find this cheaper online or at a junkyard. I went home typed exact part number into google (got part number from quote) and presto I could get the part brand new mirror replacement from a reputable company for 40 dollars. My quote from Gerber listed this part cost at 220 dollars. I was pretty excited to have found this and called Gerber to see if I could bring my own part in and then have them paint it/install it. I explained my situation to the front desk and she did not know what to do with me so she transferred me to the person who did my quote (I believe his name is Ken Bourdeau, but I am not sure about this). Realize I just saw this guy for my quote less then 15 minutes ago. Anyway, he explained they do not deals with parts brought in by the customer because they can not ensure they are quality. I understand this position, but asked if I took responsibility for the part if they would be willing to install and paint the mirror. He said they could only install parts they ordered or secured themselves and he would not be able to help. Thus, I decided to just order the part and see if I could install myself. The part arrived brand new and well packaged. Keep in mind I am not a handy man and not the best at installing things. However, I watched a youtube video and installed the mirror in less then 10 minutes. Mirror works great, does not shake when I drive and can control from inside the car. I also want to say I got quoted from an hour of labor to install the mirror, to go along with an hour of paint labor, and paint supplies. I get having to charge at least an hour for any job, but why charge an hour of labor and hour of paint labor when it literally took an idiot (me) less then 10 minutes to install. I am very dissatisfied with Gerber and feel like they were trying to take advantage of me and not willing to work with me at all. I will be going elsewhere for all future repairs and encourage others to get quotes from other repair shops prior to going with anything Gerber says. Oh yeah, for now I am just going to leave the mirror black (how it comes), my car is silver and worry about painting it later. read more

I couldn't recommend Gerber Collision more highly. Setting: car was hit hard by another car, ~$6000 in damage covered by insurance. Experience: Gerber completed substantial body and mechanical work on the car in just over a week, beating the timeline they set for themselves. A representative, Becky, called me twice a week and gave me a full update on timeline and repairs. She answered all of my questions perfectly. When I had a (unfounded) concern about the suspension after the repairs were completed, they happily and patiently took me on a test-drive, checked everything to make sure it was OK, and sent me on my way. The car looks and drives great. The 5th star goes for taking extra time to clean nearly 10 years worth of grime from the car's interior. This was done completely without asking or charge to me. Conclusion: This was by a mile the best experience I've ever had with auto repair. Very professional and very effective. Highly recommended, 5 stars. read more

Very easy to work with. Geico adjuster is on site as well as an enterprise car rental shop. Got our quote through geico, picked up our rental, and was on our way in less than an hour. Car was repaired and returned to us in less than a week. Craftsmanship was excellent. Only gripe was that they charged us for a windshield wiper fluid refill but didn't fill it up. Oh well. Awful. I dropped my car off to be repaired here after someone wrecked my car, I used them as the wrecker's insurance (GEICO) used the place and there was an Enterprise Rent-a-Car next door. I received my car in completely unacceptable condition, as the workers managed to put a large crack in my windshield and actually tried to give it back to me in that condition. I brought my car here a couple of months ago for a minor fender-bender. Paint job so far is good. But it stops right there! When I picked up the car, there were a bunch of seals that were missing. After I brought to there attention, they ordered the parts and I had to go back again to get them installed. My main issue with this shop is attention to details. When I received the ca, the hood was not aligned correctly. They tried to adjusted and they made it worse. There excuse was that's how the car came from the factory. They even insisted that they can take me to a dealership to show the same thing on new cars. Since then, I have looked at new and used cars of my model and all of them had their hood perfectly aligned, just like my car was before the accident. If you are looking for a quick repair, this is the best shop for you. If you are looking for detail and accurate work, search some other shops. read more

I needed a dent on the roof of a mid sized car fixed. It cost me $500 to remove a dent from the hood of the car. The dent required no paint just the pop out. Staff was friendly, they bounce you around a lot when you call but end up getting you to the person you need to talk with. read more

My car was in a front end collision from a hit and run. Progressive let me chose my shop. I chose Gerber and was not disappointed. My VW came back to me perfectly repaired and like new. Even made sure that my ac was fixed after discovering it was damaged in the accident and not noticed until after the body was repaired. They also contacted the insurance company after they denied the front and alignment initially and convinced them to cover it when I had to bring it back for pulling to the right hard at speeds over 50mph. They kept in communication with me and their customer service is very friendly and efficient. Would recommend for sure! read more

Horrible service. They rushed and did not fully address the problems from the collision. When the vehicle was brought back due to these problems, I was met with constant excuses as to why they wouldn't have thought to check for problems connected with impact and that they had only test drove the vehicle in the parking lot. Asked for manager and he was extremely rude. Instead of a "make it right" attitude, he couldn't handle that his shop didn't fully address the problem and refused to take responsibility for further damage to the body of the vehicle that happened in their shop. I brought my car in for body repair and to change out the windshield. When I went back to pick up my vehicle, there was an area of bodywork was overlooked and the windshield had not been replaced. I brought back in just a few days later to get the remainder of the bodywork completed as well as to have the windshield replaced. Both times I was very clear about the windshield needing to be replaced. When Gerber called to say that my car was ready, I inquired about my windshield being replaced, I was told that they had no notes about my windshield needing to be replaced. I totally understand all businesses are experiencing issues with Covid-19 in the last several months. However, when I spoke in the matter of my windshield numerous times the first and second time with several associates with Gerber and my windshield has still not been replaced, I am more that just irritated. When I expressed my disappointment, my contact person at Gerber, rather than contacting me to say he had still not received the claim number from my insurance company, blamed it in my insurance company for not contacting him. It just seems to me that after bringing my vehicle in twice for the same issue they would have contacted me with an update. In my opinion, Gerber failed in the customer relations department. I don't typically give reviews of any kind unless I have a particularly spectacular 5-star experience but I hope no one has to endure an experience as stressful and absurd as I did with Gerber this week. I had my car towed from an accident scene to Gerber on a Sunday. Expecting a collision center to have a secure after hours drop off location available I sent my car along. The voicemail box was full so I called ASAP Monday morning to fill them in and request an estimate. I was informed that they could not find my vehicle. It was over 2 hours until they called me back to inform me they had found it. It was outside their gates because they do not have a proper place to drop off a vehicle after hours. They charged me $50 to bring it 20 feet inside the gate! On top of that they did not give me a proper estimate until late Wednesday because they claimed my insurance company needed to look at it even though I told them on Monday morning I would be paying out of pocket and only had liability. When I requested an estimate of just the mechanical needs I was promised it would be inspected Thursday morning first thing. I had to call them 30 minutes before closing on Thursday because I had yet to hear from them. All this time I was without a vehicle and they were unable to provide any kind of rental to me. Their estimate was way overpriced and after the poor service I had and being told they would be unable to begin working on it for 1-2 weeks, I towed it across town and was able to have the work done cheaper even with brand new parts. I expected better out of a company with so many locations and 4 star ratings on Google but I can assure you they have lost all my business and I will be warning all my friends to steer clear in the future. read more

Took my car here after someone backed in to me while my car was parked. My experience with Gerber was a bit rocky, but in the end they made everything right. Mr. Tony and Ms. Janelle took great care of me. I initially brought my car in and they had it back super quick. But then I noticed the wheel-well liner was cracked, so I brought it back. They were super apologetic and gladly took it back. Then I got it back the second time and part of the newly painted body had a crack in it. Again, they gladly took it back in. I got it back for the third time and they did a great job, cleaned up the car very nicely and even vacuumed out the inside. Although I had to bring it back twice, they never questioned me and let me be very picky. It may have taken longer than I would have liked, but in the end it was a job well done.
