Really fun experience! First off I would like to say their service/team members are superb! The whole experience they made personal and was neatly organized. Although the location isn't walking distance or super close to the Waikiki area it was really easy to get to by car and not a long drive. The food was good /buffet style and there were options for things I have never tried which I appreciated. The show was beautiful and they also had some fun activities to do before the show that I don't remember being on the package that I didn't expect and really enjoyed. All the performers and workers were extremely nice and held conversations that didn't seem like forced work small talk. Great location, beautiful photo ops w/ a lighthouse right on the beach! I've actually been to Germaine's before and several other luau's on the islands. Germaine's is great. My family loved it. My kids enjoyed it. Is it the best Luau? No... Is it the worst? Not even close... Was it good enough and fun? Absolutely... My first luau choice was the Polynesian Cultural Center but it was sold out. This was a good second choice. Pros: *The location. You can't beat a luau on the beach. The best location ever. During the show we snuck out to take pictures on the beach during sunset. *Just a solid good time. *Entertainment is good. Very Low Key. Definitely reminds me of an intimate production. You won't be seeing any walking on hot burning coals or anything. But it's good. Cons: *The food is very mediocre. Was definitely worth it for the live show. The dancers were amazing and very entertaining. They interacted with the crowd, and even acknowledged people who were having birthdays, anniversaries or any special occasion for them to be there. The food was alright, it could've had more and different options but since it was a buffet you could keep going back. The bar closed before the show did so you kind of had to cram all the drinks down to make your moneys worth. Other than that it was a great show. Luau...there are certainly plenty to choose from in and around honolulu, I checked Yelp. I had some considerations and with Covid protocol it was a bit of a challenge. We required Transportation to and from, Germaine's is about an hour north during rush hour traffic. We bought the premier tickets, (no point coming all this way to sit at the back and miss the show)...right. Organized very well, friendly staff, decent food, seconds welcomed. Front row table first to the buffet line too. Really good show, singing, dancing, and a fire eater too. three each drink tickets and good choices for us non-drinkers, sodas and coffee was free. Went to this Luau on an Excursion while on Princess Cruises. We have asked them to take this off their excursions because it is NOT up to standards! we paid $350 for a Commercialized Luau. Absolutely a TOURIST TRAP! So many things that were awful with this Luau . The event is on a man made beach that you can not even go out to. It is next to an industrial park and cement plant. We were seated at large picnic tables that were not easy for our 70 year old parents to sit at. There were cats going to the bathroom in the sand while we ate. The food and entertainment were great. However, the reason I'm giving them three stars is the photography services. When we arrived, they took photos of our family as a whole, and then photos of our two children. At the end of the night they try to sell you the photos for $20 a set and we asked for one of each and they would not sell them to us that way. I told him I was only going to buy one set of photos and asked if I could have one of each and again they told me no I asked what they do with the photos and they said they keep them. I'm not sure why they would need to keep photos of my two children Rather than purge them. I did not authorize them to keep photos of my children. This was a good experience! My first luau and first time in Hawaii. Every adult 21+ gets two drink vouchers. There's endless food so you're able to eat as much as you want. Family friendly vibe! The show is fun & entertaining. There's also lots of historical information shared during the performances. I wasn't a huge fan of the food but the experience was still really cool. I think we paid about $110 per adult. We were there for the 2nd show. It started late (I'm assuming the 1st show ran over). I don't remember exactly how long the wait was but it was a pretty long wait. I didn't mind the wait because something about being in Hawaii makes you relax & enjoy every moment. It was kind of chilly the day (and it's right next to a beach) we went but I bought a cute long sleeve Germaine's Luau for $10 from their gift shop. When you enter, you take pictures and they are available for purchase. $20 for two pictures & ours turned out really nice . I would suggest wearing shoes that you're comfortable walking in. There's not a very long walk, but you do walk from the parking lot into the luau on gravel. I wore sandals & I was comfortable. If you have young kids, they'd love it! read more

I has to give one start in order to write a review. This event is a waste time and money my husband and I were disappointed we won't recommend it !!! My husband never writes reviews but he was so upset that he wanted to write about it our experience The bus ride was the highlight, the best part. We were the last table to be excused to go get our food, not a problem someone has to be last. But at the beginning of the food line there were no eating utensils they were all gone no one was keeping an eye out so as to refill them. Next all the coldsaw was empty my wife had to scrape the bottom of the pan to try and get some. We were about halfway thru the line when they announced that if anyone wanted second they could go get some. I'm thinking what we haven't even finished getting our food and others are coming over for a second plate. After someone got us our eating utensils we went to sit down. I started to eat and after two bites of food all the lights went out. Now I'm eating in the dark and trying to watch a show. This event was way over priced for such poor service. I saw a lot of bad reviews, and got worried at first. My husband and his family have been there since he was younger and he said it's a little cheesy but he did like it. I don't mind cheesiness, all the luau is cheesy and it's ok to be cheesy on vacation. We got picked up by a big tour bus on time and took about 1 hour to get there due to traffic. After checking in, we got directed to the seating area. The place is at the west side of Oahu and away from the tourist area. The luau was by the beach; it's very pretty and peaceful location. Food was buffet style with teriyaki chicken, beef, kauke pork, fish, rice, fruit, poi, salmon with chopped tomato. I didn't have any expedition on food at first because we went to the Hilton village luau years ago; the buffet was not great, so I was assuming this one will be similar. To my surprise, they were actually decent and some dishes were better than others. The staff kept cleaning up the buffet line and everything went quick and smoothly. The show itself was good too, typical Luau with dancing and fire torch performances from different islands. Our family group of 13 planned this luau during our holiday vacation. We booked through Orbitz and used a 20% off voucher. Our pickup driver was great, friendly and funny. The shuttle was very comfortable during the approximately 45 minute drive. Pickup was at Seaside Ross. When we arrived, we were surprised there was a reserved table for us. We were not impressed with the 2 half pineapple at the table for the 13 of us as appetizer. Adults got 1 drink coupon for alcoholic beverages. The mai tais were good. You could upgrade to pricier drinks (pina colada) for 2 tickets. We had to wait almost til the end (they go by tables/sections) to get up and eat and that was a bummer. When they gave our table the green light, the lady announced that people could get up for seconds already. Maybe wait for everyone to get their first chance before doing that. The food was great. The pork and fish were great, as well as the coconut dessert. I definitely had more than my fair share. The entertainment was great too, and if you want to join in the fun/dancing, everyone gets an opportunity to do that. It was a great experience. My 2 year old son really loved the show and was watching 85% of the time and 15% he playing with the on the floor. My son was so into it and focused on the performers and would clap along. The staff were really friendly and helpful. When it was our turn to go get our dinner food, one of the performer/worker name Bree (I believe) came up to us to help grab food onto a plate because we had our 2 year old son with us. She even remembered us and came up to us after the show with her beautiful Hawaiian dance outfit. My son wanted to take a photo with her and she was so nice to let us. We had some visitors to the island and wanted to let them experience a luau. My wife was able to get tickets to Germaine's Luau which we hadn't experienced since living here, although have experienced the PCC, Paradise Cove, and Chiefs. I had visited Germaine's as a child some years ago so was looking forward to the reliving the memories. Driving up to the area you're wondering how there could be a luau in this area given the rural and industrial images. Eventually, you arrive to their parking lot where someone checks your reservation off their board and asks you to park. Parking is a small lot with very tight spaces and the reps ask you to park one car next to the other which is very concerning if you love your car. When I say tight, some cars had to pull forward out of the stall to allow passengers to exit their car. It's a little ridiculous to be honest. We were one of the last to get a spot in the parking lot and I believe overflow is on the street leading to the parking lot. We waited in our car for an hour...an hour...as we were told to stay put. I figured they were coming by to check vaccination status but nobody came to our car unlike other cars we saw. Eventually, someone came by and told people to exit their car and get in another line to check-in. By this time, the sun had set and my wife was very bothered that we missed a photo opportunity being on the water. They have two lines for the two different reservation packages. The Plumeria line was significantly shorter and offers the included photo. As noted before, the sun had set by this time so their photo area with the dancer situated 6 feet behind you is now dark and they're using a flash which as you know doesn't produce as quality a memory. We were seated and ordered drinks which come in a small plastic cup (8 oz?). I wasn't really impressed by the drinks and stopped after trying a second one, settling for water. They have coffee and soda beverages which I didn't see where one would get those from. I believe there is supposed to be an area other than the bar dedicated to the non-alcoholic beverages. There is a gift shop/store onsite and one of my visitor friends who didn't wear a Hawaiian shirt to the luau decided he would purchase one. Well, they don't sell Hawaiian shirts at their store. They sell mainland type polos and tshirts with the Germaine's logo. He didn't purchase as a result. The food was pretty good overall, especially compared to other luaus we've attended. They had the typical chicken, fish, beef, pork, salad, poi, coconut dessert, etc. One could go back to the buffet if desired. The show was good, although seemed smaller scale with fewer performers compared to other luau events. It was enjoyable for all, although the seating was picnic bench type and one behind the other to where it was challenging to see given the head in front of me. My back was bothering me as well given the lack of support a chair provides for the couple hours of the show. Other luaus do provide chairs. To sum it up, not only did we sit for an hour in the car and wait, missed sunset, couldn't see the picturesque ocean, have a picture in the dark to commemorate the occasion, drinks were blah, food was great, show was decent from what I could see to the left and right of the head in front of me. I was really nervous about it because of a few of the reviews, but I'm glad I tried it. We really enjoyed the luau. The dancers were awesome, the host was great, and the food was good. A few things to consider. 1. If you decide to have the bus pick you up at the hotels, just keep in mind that they will NOT start the luau until all buses and guests have arrived. I can't say that they will do that if you drive yourself but we were next to the last bus and were running late. Obviously, you are left with maybe subpar seating unless you have reserved seating. It does take about an hour to get there. But as I understand it, most luau's are located well outside of Waikiki. 2. All seating is in the sand. Wear appropriate footwear. 3. The food is not 5-star but it was good. I recommend you watch the ceremony where they remove the pig from the pit. There's seating and an area behind the pit you can stand. Lasts about 10 minutes. You go through the buffet line by tables. Don't worry, they will not start the show until everyone has made it through the buffet line at least once. 4. The luau is right against the water, take pictures when you get there before dark. 5. The gift shop closes early, visit before dinner. 6. The restrooms were clean. 7. A few of the ladies with us mentioned it was difficult to get out of the picnic-style seating with a dress on. Those seats do sit low. 8. Get reserved seating if you can afford it. The number one thing I would change if I could go back. You get better views of the stage and get better photos/videos. Although almost every seat is a good one. 9. Buy the pictures you take when you first get there. They came out great. Very good quality and they come in a pre-designed picture folder. 10. I can't personally speak on alcoholic beverages but the ones in my group said they were good. 11. I saw a review about where the luau is located. And they are right, it is in an industrial, seemingly run-down area, however, you cannot see, hear, or smell anything associated with the area outside of the luau. It wasn't dangerous or anything like that. Ignore it and go enjoy the luau. 12. At the end you'll have a chance to take a picture with some of the dancers. Do it. They are really nice and beautiful. 13. The only thing negative I have is that there were a lot of bugs out there. Wear bug spray if you have some. Go enjoy it and have a good time. We booked our tickets two days ago... General tickets are $135 for adult Children $95 They had us wait in car until someone comes and gets us. It was passed 630 and we kept seen people walking to make line and go in. We go to the parking lot early and the guy started to allow people that just parked to go in first. We all decided to get out and make line as we were going to end up at end if we continue to wait for him to allow everyone that got there then go in. He told us to wait and we told him no as another man came out as well saying the same thing. We walk gave our last name they asked for ID to confirm booking. We found a table they were getting full quickly, We waited.... We took pictures and enjoy the ocean view. Then they announced the pork ceremony. People went to see Then they had some dancers and singing. Beautiful dancing with great musicians and singer. Such beautiful time. They also had seconds as they offer more food. The shop closes at 8pm so when the luau finished it was too late to buy anything. It worth the experience but it did feel rushed... I do recommend for anyone looking for a great experience. If you are looking for the "Hawaiian tourist luau" experience, I recommend Germaine's Luau. Since we are locals, we've actually never been to one of these touristy events -- but my best friend was visiting Hawaii for the first time from the mainland, so we wanted to end the trip with "hula, mai tais, and sunsets on the beach." And we had a great time! The main thing is -- don't go into this expecting a quiet beach or authentic Hawaiian culture, ok? Think of this like Disneyland. You know it's going to be cheesy and campy and family/tourist-friendly. Just go in with an open mind, participate however you can, be nice to the super talented and friendly staff and performers, and have fun! Here's what you can expect: - Wear your most "Hawaiian" aloha clothes and your slippers. The entire dining area is filled with sand so don't bother wearing closed shoes or something. - Drive way the heck out to Kapolei. Yes, it's hella far, but at least you will get some of the most gorgeous private sunsets! - Depending on your ticket, get in one of the lines at the entry. Make sure you wear your mosquito repellent since you'll be standing near some plants. - As soon as you go in, a photographer will take a photo of your group. You'll get a puka shell necklace to keep, and drink tickets. - Before anything else, choose a table and claim it! You'll want to get a good view of the stage. Depending on how crowded it is, you might end up sharing your table with another family. - Everyone will be invited to walk over and watch some dudes pull the kalua pig out of the ground when its finished cooking. It's totally cooked but if you don't want to see the animal you're about to eat, you don't have to join this part. This is one of the selling points of Germaine's Luau -- that they have a real pig cooked the traditional way. - After getting seated again, tables will be invited to the buffet one by one. The food is traditional Hawaiian food and was actually hella good, considering that it was all you can eat. - You can go grab drinks anytime from the bar on the side. They have alcohol-free versions of most of the cocktails, too. - Make sure to keep an eye on the sunset and walk over to take pics. You'd be surprised by how quickly the sun sets. - Dance show! Performers do traditional dances from multiple Pacific Islands (such as Tongan hip dance, the haka, and Samoan fire knife), not just Hawaii. The performers are REALLY good and many train for professional competitions when they're not working here. I've been to many of the different luau's on island and wanted to see what this place was all about! On my drive out, there is nothing to really see. It's literally in the back of all the industrial buildings!! Upon arrival, the drive out lot was super empty. It made it nice for me to find prime parking and not have to worry about being the rush. They bring five charter buses in town to get all of the people there! We ordered the Highest package which was the plumeria and would highly recommend. You are greeted by a hostess and walk down to take a picture with a fire dancer and a hula dancer. Then show you where you will be seated and have your own bar counter. The drinks are super heavy on the alcoholic side. So be warned!!! There's not much to do to keep yourself occupied while you are waiting. I recommend that you take your time getting there. The food was great! LOTS OF CHOICES OF MAIN COURSE MEALS. Also, they serve the meal to you! You really never have to get up unless you want a drink. Let me start by saying Germaine's definitely live it to its name of "backyard style" luau. It's a great luau to hang out with friends or family and grab a seat at one of their picnic tables and a few drinks from the bar. They have a small gift shop and soft drinks, tea, coffee , and water is all complimentary. You can take a picture when you first enter. I wasn't loving the location , it's in the industrial part of Kapolei. Beachfront property but you can't put your feet in the water there were cones and rope near the edge . However with all that said I enjoyed myself and had fun. The food for one is amazing ! Once everyone goes through once you can go up for more if you desire ( I sure did). The staff is amazing and exhibit that aloha welcome . I felt like apart of their family. They were all so kind and welcoming. More than one person offer to help me at the buffet seeing that I was serving myself and my 4 yr old daughter . The performances were awesome as well. And interactive, twice inviting people on stage (first time males, second females ). It's smaller than other places like paradise cove, but I think that's part of their charm. If you're vegetarian I know they have a vegetarian option, just have to notify them in advance. Parking is free and if it rains I know they offer ponchos. If I could put zero stars I would. This luau is a joke. I live on Oahu and I'm so disappointed. I'm actually still at the luau and couldn't wait to review this place. The activities weren't available (tattoos or lei making). I attempted to discuss my concerns with the director and she only made excuses. The time is 7:56 pm now and they are just now starting the show, it's expected to be over by 8:30pm. The pig was already cut up for the ceremony, but the plus is the food was good. Honestly that's the only part of the night that was good. Spend the extra money and go to Polynesian cultural center. There you'll get a full show, tons of activities, and good food. Had a wonderful time at this Luau! It is filled with family entertainment and Aloha! It is on a beautiful beach with the ocean as a backdrop. Perfect spot to watch the sunset before you enjoy the meal and performances. Perks-Parking is free onsite, great food, vegetarian meal available when requested (tofu and veggies), great location, they offer bus ride to/from your hotel), free drink with your entry ticket. They prepare the Imu like most Luau's in the ground, and then take it out and show everyone. You are then welcomed to dine, it is a buffet style. The staff will call your table.
