We tried the Da Crawfish and Crabshack's (Kapolei) $9.99 weekday Lunch Specials that they offer from 11 am - 3 pm. Huge disappointment. First, the actual plates aren't close to the portions pictured in prior reviews. We ordered the Smoked Chicken which was more like "Skimpy" Chicken soaked in vinegar. The Pork Adobo was drenched with "sweet/sour sauce" which left a lasting aftertaste in your mouth. The Pork Ribs were actually the closest to previous pictured plates - tasted like "salt and vinegar" instead of "salt and pepper" - still skimpy (little meat covering huge bone inside)! Their "garlic noodles" had so much garlic that I'm sure that Vampires and Draculas will stay away from me for a week. The rice tasted like "day-old refrigerated" rice which was microwaved. I becomes solid if not eaten immediately. So shame. I can't imagine the other selections are any better so I'll just refrain from returning again. I would not eat this food even if you gave it to me for free. I believe you'll get a bigger bang for your buck by using the BOGO coupon at Loco Moco Kapolei located in the same mall. read more

First time here to try out their popular $10 plate lunch specials. This is not your typical fast food plate lunch spot... waited 30min for our take-out. Unfortunately, rice was undercooked in 3 of our plate lunches today. So disappointing because the main items were decent... but rice makes the plate. The crab tasted good, but this place is pretty pricey for the quality and quantity. The server was nice but really forgetful and when we asked about something missing from the boil (we only ordered 2 things total) she took it off the bill but didn't offer to bring it instead-we wouldn't have minded waiting since that was half our meal. The good thing I could say is it's cheaper than the other two places but the food really reflects its price. we ordered combo 1 with extra shrimp instead of crawfish with garlic butter and honestly it was pretty bland and little to almost no flavor. We had never tried this place before but wanted to try the $10 lunch specials after seeing them online. We tried calling in the order but consistently got the busy signal for 20 mins, but it was christmas eve so they might have just been busy. After a while we got ahold of them and placed our order on the phone. When we got there to pick it up, it was kind of confusing where to go. There's no one at the front to greet you so we just wandered around and eventually realized you have to go to the bar to ask for your food. We got the smoked chicken and the salt and pepper pork ribs. The smoked chicken was good and had a slight smoky flavor, but was pretty much a standard bbq chicken. The salt and pepper pork ribs were really good and were super flavorful and crispy with a good amount of meat on the bones. The plates come with rice, mac salad (with spaghetti noodles), and some plain spaghetti noodles that were maybe just tossed in olive oil? We thought that was kind of strange, I think a fried noodle would have been better. The mac salad was pretty good though, it was fun and different with spaghetti noodles rather than macaroni. Overall I think it was a great value for $10 but I don't think we'd come back. Glad we got to try it though! read more

The food is good. Service by Lauren was phenomenal and knew 5 minutes into ordering she was worth 20% of whatever the bill would be! She was fast, polite, kind and professional. It was a Thursday evening so we had a choice of seats but a half hour later it was quite busy. They have plenty of TVs for sports playing on mute simultaneously with music playing. Tabled are plastic with metal chairs and rolled paper to easily clean up after each meal. Your crab shells and waste is easily tossed in the metal bucket. The sauce was too spicy for my wife and her friend that covered the crab so they asked if they could add more to minimize the spice which they fulfilled however it cost me an additional $4.50 for each sauce but the food was so good I tipped on the $9 we thought was for free. Next time we will ask ahead of time the cost for any changes or up-charges before we agree to anything. I love the raw onion with the marinaded steak and poi! It's delicious. We shared the shrimp platter. 20 shrimp in garlic butter sauce (market price). Displayed nicely on a platter, the butter garlic was nothing special. Also shared the sweet potato fries. It had a light crisp on the outside, and tender inside . Good taste. Two thumbs up. Our server was apologetic for the restaurant opening late. Posted time is 11 am. We got there at 11:30, they opened at a quarter to twelve. The had a staff meeting. Ambiance was open with painted murals throughout. They had a number of TV screens set to different channels. Another visit here and I was not disappointed! I showed up on a crowded (rainy) Friday afternoon (545PM?). The staff was great, full hands and they still greeted me and brought me to a table. Ash here was amazing! Ash actually had about three plates and still walked me over to a table and greeted me as my server. With the amount of people and being there were only two servers for a full restaurant, I expected to be neglected since I was by myself, but Ash made it a point to constantly check on me. Ash also apologized profusely for making me wait (even though I didn't think I really waited). My gratitude is unwavering for that type of service! To acknowledge individuals as well as large parties is so important and something they do so well! The atmosphere is so welcoming and friendly as the staff greets you. We were initially excited to try this spot after seeing the specials promoted on YouTube by The Binge Tour and Kaipo Kapua, but what we received was not exactly what was shown in those videos. We are very selective in our choices when eating out and mainly eat home-cooked meals, so this was meant to be a real treat for us. The Food: While the quality is good for the price point, the execution is inconsistent. * Chicken Katsu: Arrived burnt (see photo). After calling to advise the staff, they were very apologetic and offered a replacement plate to be picked up today at 11:00 AM. (See Photo) * Hamburger Steak: Good flavor, but a bit salty. It definitely needs more gravy and onions to round out the dish. (See Photo) * Smoked Chicken & Shrimp: The smoked chicken was good again and the shrimp was ono. Closing Thoughts: * The staff experience is the sole reason this rating is not a 5. * The taste and quality of the food were ideal for the price point, and we truly enjoyed the flavors, despite the minor inconsistencies that can be easily corrected. * They were apologetic about the Katsu initially and handled that situation fairly well. * I'm sharing this because the food has so much potential, and I would love to see the service experience match that standard. Service is terrible. Our food took sooooo long. Ridiculously long and we only had a party of 2 and they only had our food too cause we were the only ones in there close to closing. Pregnant waitress didn't even check to see why our food was taking so long. She was to busy eating cause when she came out to ask if we wanted ketchup for our fries she had food in her mouth. TERRIBLE TERRIBKE SERVICE!!! Ketchup for our fries which was an e cause to stall. Fries took half hour. Really does it take half hour to cook fries. I really wanted to like this place because we order their 9.99 plate lunch specials here all the time. But the Combo 1 I had was SO bland. Granted I asked for Mild butter garlic sauce, but the sauce BARELY held to the seafood. The garlic fries appetizer, corn and 2 pieces of sausage mixed into that combo had 10x's more flavor than the combo that was served in the silver mixing bowl. Service was very good, we had to wait a little longer than expected because there was only one guy waiting on everyone and one standing at the bar as cashier/bar tender. Might not ever come back to eat in the restaurant but will continue to order from their lunch menu. I was really looking forward to trying Da Crawfish and Crab Shack, but unfortunately, the food was a huge letdown. I ordered snow crab clusters and shrimp in garlic butter (spicy). The spice level was good, but there was no real flavor--just heat. It desperately needed proper seasoning. I asked for Old Bay, and they brought me some sweet brown seasoning that was definitely not Old Bay. Turns out, they make their own seasoning, and honestly, it's not good. Then came the biggest disappointment: they don't have real butter--only margarine. I asked for butter to dip my crab legs, and they brought a bowl of margarine... and charged me $4.50 for it. I also ordered lemon and got half a lemon for $1.50. The corn and potatoes were clearly just boiled in plain water and then splashed with raw garlic and margarine. Everything was bland and unappetizing. On top of that, it was extremely hot inside--not a single window, door, AC, or fan to provide relief. It made the whole experience even worse. The only positives were that the crab legs were cooked properly, the interior was nice, and the staff was friendly and quick. But good service doesn't make up for bad food, bad seasoning, and an uncomfortable dining environment. If they switched to real butter and actual crab seasoning, this place could be great.
