Do not take your Volkswagens to be serviced at the shop. I needed my EPC repaired. Their service manager, José, said they had no one to diagnose Volkswagens. All they could do was simple fluid services. I waited 3 months for them to call me for an appointment. When I called about an appointment they informed me they do not do "serious" repair on Volkswagens. If they don't have competent technicians to work Volkswagens can they offer German car repair to the public? Beware... read more

I didn't experience any of that working with the German Car Service. They were helpful, knowledgeable and talked to me with respect. They got my car in for service quickly and did a great job. Not as great as it used to be. They do have very short staff, and to make things worst, jobs that should only takes a day or two can take up to two weeks. Just a few days ago, my son took his car to the shop and they damaged one of his wheels. They were warned to be careful with the wheels at the time the vehicle was dropper off, but they completely disregard resulting in serious damage to one of the wheels. Instead of assuming responsibility, they insinuated that the damage was already there. Please do not take your German vehicles there, go somewhere else. read more

Took my car for valve cover gasket replacement. They pushed hard to replace valve cover too because it might warp. Clearly he was not happy. I opted for gasket only. 3 months later went in for basic oil change. 2 weeks later I notice some oil had dripped where I park & dripping from pan plug. Took it back, I said the crush washer wasn't put in properly and my oil leaked out. They fixed it. NOW, major engine problems and took it to another mechanic and then dealership. Valve cover gasket not put on correctly and oil leaked into plugs and was on verge of catastrophic engine damage. Will be getting a statement from dealer and pursue legal reparations. I'd hit a bad patch of luck with my car, and Auto Services, recently, and I had just about given up on finding a professional and competent shop to define and repair its (and therefore my) ills. With the help of Yelp, I gave these folks a try, and am glad I did. They fixed what needed it, and identified the things to merely watch, and that was that. To my mind they are nearly perfectly in the sweet spot between a huge dealer with their dozen Service Advisors, and a local one person neighborhood shop. The waiting area is tidy and clean. The techs are polite and crisp. You get the feeling if the shop bothers having good coffee available (which they do) then they are probably not stripping the threads of some simple mounting bolts. If they bother calling you at noon (which they did) as promised, with a progress update, then they probably won't forget to put the dipstick all the way back in its tube. (oh yes, these things and more I've seen) Further, they answer questions without talking down to you, at your respective level of automobile knowledge. There is more work to be done on my old car, down the road; I'll put it back in their hands when the time comes - but thankfully it won't be nearly as soon as I might have otherwise thought. read more

these folks have been great to work with. My first transaction was a hood latch sensor that I asked them to replace just the sensor in an attempt to save some money. they explained that they could only warranty their work if they replace the hood latch assembly. They got me a quote and saved me over $100 on my cost from Audi. I have been bringing my 2 VWs here for years. I think they had a change in management. Last month they told me that they do not turn brake rotors because they don't have the facility to do it, so they recommend replacing the whole rotor every time you service your brakes. My 2002 Beetle threw a timing belt and now needs a new engine. They want more than the VW dealer to replace it and they were curt when I pointed this out. I am now taking my 2 VWs elsewhere for service. I suggest you give this place distance until there management gets their act together. read more

Avoid this place!!! Took my BMW in to get check engine light checked. He said he turned it off and should be fine. (I knew it wasn't that easy, as I had a friend turn it off with the OBD2 tool thingy). There was more to it. Light always came back on. And I wanted to know what was causing it to keep turning on and what was wrong with my car. He insisted that its off and should not be a problem. I drive down the street and it back on..... Turn around and go back to the guy and he said it's probably A, B or C... $100 later he was no help! Beware. Stay away!!!! Waste my money! He said $200 more he can replace something. Didn't fix the problem at all. Doesn't even seem to know what he is doing. read more

I called in the morning and spoke with Adam explaining that my wife's BMW battery had died and wanted them to look at it. He was very professional, friendly, and provided an accurate estimate of the price to change the battery, and code the battery to the computer system. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that the car got finished much sooner than the time that they told me. I took my Audi to this place for a tune up. I was told over the phone that I needed 2 oxygen sensors, each costing $225 times 2 and then labor would be $90. I looked on the internet and found the part for $35-$110 each. Went to get my car to take it somewhere else and was still charged the labor charge even though I did not have the work done. He stated it was for hooking it up to the computer and cleaning my battery posts. If you have money to blow, then feel free to go here, otherwise the dealer would have even been cheaper. read more

Took my '08 Audi S6 V10 with an oil leak to these guys. Prior to taking it there, I took my car to the dealership where I bought it (GMC dealership) 3 times. The dealership's diagnosis was a driver-side and passenger-side valve gasket. The dealership supposedly changed the passenger-side valve gasket, but told me that it needed a special tool which they did not have to change the driver-side valve gasket. Finally I took it in and guess what??? It wasn't the valve gasket at all. They figured out the issue and fix it effortlessly and it came in cheaper than I expected. It goes without saying I will never take my car back to the dealership. These guys will get all my business for the life of this car and other German cars I own in the future. Recently had German Car Service work on my car. I'm very happy with the service. I dealt with Jake and Adam. They were both very good at communicating and seemed very honest. The labor rates aren't necessarily cheap, but better than BMW Northwest, and I felt like I got better service. I would have never figured out the issue on my own (injector coding error), and the car does seem much better now! read more

My expansion tank was cracked in my BMW and spewed coolant everywhere in the engine compartment. I had it towed there and they replaced the expansion tank and checked the cooling system. Not even 2 days later my car overheated and shut down. Turns out my water pump had failed which is part of the cooling system they said they checked and assured me it was good. Not only that, but they left the engine compartment covered in coolant which every mechanic should know is horrible for belts and hoses. Never taking my car there again and telling all my friends about this horrible experience. read more

My first time taking my vehicle here and my experience with the service was great right from the start, with a phone call and the gentleman fitting me in their busy schedule to have my window switch's replaced so I could roll my window back up.... and very reasonable on prices.... I will be taking my vehicle back for services when needed ... also I work in Lacey and live in Milton so it would not have been good trying to drive home while it was raining and not being able to roll up my window. Jose and his crew were extremely helpful to us when we encountered a problem with our windshield wipers as we were on our way to Canada. We had an appointment we had to make and were running late. They helped us immediately, diagnosed, and took us to a car rental agency so that we could be on our way. The car was ready for us on our return trip 4 days later and the price for repairs was much less than originally quoted once they had a chance to do further diagnosis. Took my BMW to this guy to fix the check engine light. He called and said I needed a whole list of other stuff, but that he had fixed the check engine light. I picked up the car, paid 500 dollars, and drove home. Next morning, check engine light came on. Called him up and he told me he had just "reset' the check engine light, not fixed it. To fix it, he wanted another 500 dollars. Avoid this guy. read more

Watch out! Not the same shop run by the Honest German man who owned it for many years- new owners are very different. Had my Audi in for check engine light. Shop called back with repair quote $587.00 to replace thermostat and coolant which I approved over the phone. Charges came to $688.00 when I picked up the car. I protested but the answer was " it's in the computer, you must have heard me wrong". I prefer to believe a man at his word. But not here. They also failed to have the car ready at the promised time and kept the car until late the following day. Oh and being charged $94.00 for a gallon of anti-freeze (labor to pour it in was extra) seemed like price gouging. read more

This was one of the worst experiences of my life, I drove my vehicle there and was told I had a bad water pump. When I was told my car was ready for me I asked what time they closed and was told 5:00, I informed them I would be there right before they closed. I arrived at 4:45 and the shop was closed, to make matters worse another car pulled up and told me, "Yah he does this all the time." So I returned the following day to pay and pick up my car, it was moved to a different parking spot, when I started signing the credit card receipt the guy started to tell me my clutch was going out, and quoting me prices. When I returned to the car it would not move, not even an inch, and I drove it there no problem! The mechanic claimed no responsibility and could not explain why my car had been moved after it was repaired, and now it wouldn't move. And when I asked why he didn't inform me of the clutch before repairing the water pump he replied, "I thought you already knew." NEVER EVER Give this crooked man your money! read more

I've taken my Audi to exclusively to the dealership for service from the day I bought it 120,000 miles ago, and I've never missed a scheduled service. The last time I returned to the dealer I was interested in trading it in, but they told me it was only worth about half the BlueBook value. They told me that I needed the valves cleaned at more than $2K. I drove away, and a few days later the car started missing on one cylinder. I was in an emergency situation, so I drove it about 40 miles and then had it towed, site unseen, to German Car Services, the closest mechanic to my house. He kept my car about three days. Meanwhile, I was looking for a new car because I thought I ruined my Audi by driving it too far on three cylinders. But after three days the mechanic called me and said I could pick my car up. It was a burned out ignition coil, and the total cost was under $200 after tax. I was perfectly happy to wait three days to get an honest deal. It runs like a top now. I added Techron to the fuel a couple of times, and now it runs like new. This was back in September. It's almost December now, and it still runs like a top. I can't guarantee what will happen to you. But I can definitely say that in my case I got excellent service and honest treatment. read more
