I took my Outback to a PNW regional tire store last week to get my tires rotated. The technician informed me that I needed to get the rear brakes replaced. He provided me with a quote for $825.57. These guys were wonderful. I lived up the street from them for two years and they serviced my 1971 Super Beetle. They also serviced my 1971 F100 and did an engine rebuild on its big block FE V8. Prices were reasonable and quality of the work was pretty good. The pickup runs wonderfully and got me from Washington state to my new home in NM without any issues. Sold the Bug, though. I took my car in for an oil change and inspection from Automotive Artistry. However, the day after the service my car started having problems it had never had before. It just seems way too coincidental/suspicious to me that this would happen immediately following the car appointment. It seemed to me that they may have made problems in my car to drum up business. I took the car back to Automotive Artistry to point out the new issues and voice my concerns. When I did bring it in, I mentioned I thought it was quite coincidental and they fixed it at no charge. Always love bringing my cars here. Knowledgeable staff and techs who will explain in full what they suggest needs to be done to repair the car. They went in depth and brought me back and showed me exactly what they were planning to do to fix a squeaky rear end on my '88 Honda. I could see the cracks in the rubber bushing that was making all the racket. They had to drop the whole rear trailing arm off the car (very tiny parts and not a lot of space to press the bushing out and a new one in) for a reasonable price and had me back on the road the same day even though it meant my car had to be partially gutted to do the repair! When buying a new (used) car, I brought it to them to find out what condition it was in, and they went over all the issues that they found, as well as how important it would be to address those issues soon. I love Automotive Artistry, I found them through friends. I know its hard to find an honest shop so I'm sharing! They are awesome because they actually talk to me like a human who has other things to do besides spend money on cars. I had blown up my modified Toyota Celica which stressed me out to no end and they ended up putting a remanufactured engine in it for me. It was expensive but not nearly as much as I thought it was going to be. I have a very steady runner now. I also used do my own oil changes but they top off all my fluids and do a safety check which I look at as a free car inspection every couple months. I highly recommend! read more

This is BY FAR the best mechanic that I have ever been to! It is so reassuring to know that I can trust the people that I take my car to. I never have to worry that they will try to tell me something needs fixing when it doesn't just so that they can make an extra buck. Anytime I've taken my car in, they've told me exactly what needs to be done right away. On the flip side, they've also told me when things aren't urgent, but need me to keep an eye on them, (or given me a time frame in which I may want to check back). The bonus is that I work at a local school - the other day I needed to have my car towed to AA, but didn't have a way to pick it up. Allen arranged to have my car dropped off to me at school. For schools that are close by, Automotive Artistry will arrange to pick cars up, (if arrangements are made in advance), service it, and drop it back off. I don't know if this applies to all services or just smaller ones like oil changes and such, but... either way, it's a sweet perk! LOVE THIS PLACE! read more

Long story short, they took advantage of my wife while I was on shift in the fire department. they charged her $80 for labor and broke my windshield wiper arm and told my wife that it needed a $220 part that it didn't need and didn't fix ANYTHING. It's nice to be able to utilize a small local business. I was super super late in getting my 30,000 mile maintenance on my car and for that matter an oil change. They checked my car out, told me exactly what needed to be done, what I could hold off on and what my total cost would be. Being a female and knowing I needed maintenance but having to put it off, it was quite refreshing to know I wasn't pressured into services I didn't need and I felt like the prices were very reasonable. I had a great experience today. My car started giving me problems with starting and accelerating past the 2.25 rpm line. I tried a couple things myself, and I wasn't able to fix it as the problem as it came back three days later. Fridays are the only days I have off during the week, so I called and spoke with Allen. He was able to fit me in thankfully, but this won't always be the case, and you will need to call early in the morning for the best chance. He was up front about everything, and he was great to talk to until my husband was able to come get me. I could tell they do their job for the job and not to scam people which seems to be an issue for other people looking for mechanics. The price was good, and that's the thing I was really worried about. Thankfully, he found the problem, fixed it, and he let me know everything else wrong with my car, gave me the quote for those items and told me if I wanted to fix them in the future to let him know. I didn't feel pressured to do them then, but he also let me know realistically how effective they would be for my cars performance, and he didn't act like they were needing to be done that second. Horrible experience , didn't do anything I wanted done. Called day before for tune up , said they had time dropped it off first thing. I get a call at 1pm saying I need to have my carb rebuilt. The guy they send it to charges 300.00 they told me 400 something, what a mark up. I asked about a new carburetor, which I had to bring up that option, hmmmm wonder why 100 dollar mark up !!!!. still they told me that they needed a few more days to hold my car hostage. I checked around could find all the parts in local automotive parts house. Here's the deal don't lie to me and tell me you have time for my vehicle. I'm assuming it wasn't touched till about 12:30. By the time they called me at 1 pm they where not going to be able to round up the parts and get it done by 6pm. The guy on the phone (allen) when he finally called at 1pm started by saying what was needed captain obvious lol you need a fan shroud well no kidding Allen ,all you have to do is lift up the hood to figure that out. What about the spark plugs and wires changed like I asked. I am not a mechanic but I do know how to work on cars and ended up picking up all the parts myself and getting the work I wanted done in 2 hours myself. Which was change the spark plugs, spark plug wires, and tune it up. they said I needed to rebuild my carb 400 + dollars lol , I bought one brand new for 338.00. I am a busy person That's why I took it to a shop in the first place, but in the end Thanks I got frustrated and realized, you want something done do it yourself. Read less read more
