It has classic dark wood ambience inside, and a small patio out the back of the basement (apparently Queen's lead singer used to be a regular, so this is named the Mercury Bar) Food is ok. Maybe 1 cut below top-tier pub food. Scotch egg was a tad runny, and served with Oxford sauce that is more sour and less good than the HP Brown Sauce it replaces. Lamb Sunday Roast was a bit tough, and came with a paltry 4 roast potato segments of diminutive size. Service is excellent; consistently friendly and helpful. They are eager to fix things when matters go awry. The pub was recently closed for renovations, which seems mainly to have been making a new, larger Gents in the basement, and turning the old Gents' into a 2nd Ladies' room on the staircase. Fellow patrons seem to come more for drinks than food. I like this place, and I'll be back.

They closed the bar while we were there but said there was no rush to leave while they were cleaning and closing up for the night. The lunch we had the day before was very good pub food. Wasn't noisy as we were almost the first there for lunch and the last to get there before closing the next night so overall the place was very quiet.

I had an event at the Serpentine and for several days he accompanied my boyfriend who was waiting for my group to finish. He made the Old Fashion exactly how my boyfriend likes it. I could see that Tosi takes his time making drinks with passion and care. We both highly recommend visiting the beautiful space and hope you get to visit Tosi at the bar!
