We had lunch just across from where we were staying. Just the view made ambiance perfect. Relaxing and refreshing.

We had your typical inihaw Filipino Food. Hits the spot all the time. Inihaw na tuna panga, inihaw na stuffed squid and sinigang bangus belly. Yummy.

3.5 stars... We were in town for a wedding and decided to change up the food scene since we pretty much have been eating at the hotel the whole time we were there... This place was really close to us, a few blocks down from our hotel. We came as a group of 6 and ordered a bunch of food to share: - Bulalo Soup - Sizzling Sisig - Spicy Garlic Fried Chicken - Garlic Rice - grilled calamari - fried whole fish - chicken skewers Overall the food was good, but service was quite slow. It took 30 mins before our drinks came. And when they served the soup, it was lukewarm which was very disappointing. Double check the fried chicken as some of the pieces were still pink when we got ours.

Gerry's signature 'sisig' dish, flanked by lumpia and deep-fried seasoned tofu (tokwa)

During our November, 2024 vacation to the Philippines, we took a one-day trip to Tagaytay on…read moreWednesday, the 20th, and had dinner at Dahon at Mesa. Nestled in the heart of Tagaytay, Dahon at Mesa offers stunning views of the scenic highlands overlooking Taal Lake and Volcano. The venue also features outdoor seating as well as spacious kubos (huts made of natural materials like bamboo and nipa palm leaves) within the lush surroundings, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience in a cozy and inviting atmosphere. I was stoked that we scored a kubo - the unique setting was not only very cool, but also extremely comfortable. In addition to a variety of BOODLE FIGHTS (Filipino communal feasts where food is spread on banana leaves and eaten with hands), Dahon at Mesa focuses on showcasing traditional Filipino flavours featuring hearty favourites like Caldereta, Dinuguan and Bicol Express. Their extensive menu, with moderate price level, offers authentic dishes with categories from BREAKFAST, SINIGANG, ROASTED CHICKEN, FRIED CHICKEN, GRILLED, FRIED, RICE, APPETIZER, VEGGIES, MERIENDA, PANCIT, ENSALADA, FRUIT SHAKES, JUICES, COLD DRINKS, HOT DRINKS to DESSERT, perfectly balancing affordability with quality dining. Below are the delectable items that we ordered for dinner: Sago't Gulaman (Pitcher for ₱320) - The refreshing drink with tapioca pearls and gelatin in a brown sugar syrup quenched our thirst, beat the heat and satisfied our taste buds. Lumpiang Shanghai (₱580) - THE most generous sizes of lumpiang shanghai EVER! We super enjoyed them. Sotanghon Guisado (₱620) - Perfectly cooked noodles mixed with a vibrant array of vegetables and tender pieces of meat, all seasoned to perfection. Ginataang Kalabasa at Sitaw (₱420) - This dish of calabaza squash and string beans cooked in coconut milk was a delightful mix of creamy, fresh and bright flavours. Tortang Talong (₱320) - The eggplant omelette was fluffy, simple deliciousness. Bistek Tagalog (₱720) - This Filipino beef steak dish of thinly sliced beef marinated in soy sauce and calamansi juice, served with onions, was lean and bursting with flavour. Sinigang na Pork Ribs (₱680) - This classic Filipino sour soup was a standout; the tamarind-based broth was remarkably tasty and the pork ribs were very tender. The culinary delights we had, which we complemented with Steamed Rice (For 3-4 Pax ₱200), were scrumptiously unforgettable. Service was friendly, but slow, especially when we were concluding our visit. We had to ring the kubo bell numerous times, AT LEAST THRICE, and even after that, it took quite a while for someone to arrive, so that we could request boxes for packing our leftovers and to receive the check. Slow service aside, Dahon at Mesa still delivered a lasting impression for the delightful gastronomic experience complemented with the serene ambiance. This gem is a must for a Tagaytay travel itinerary...for those with patience.

When they served the beef bulalo (bone marrow) soup, it was warm and the heater below it was not lighted. When we asked them to light it, they initially said they ran out but much later in the evening, they lit it. Bathroom was abominable - no toilet seat. Yuck! Food - the bone marrow soup is their signature dish. It was good, just wished it was hotter. We ordered their hot chocolate seafood plate which had grilled squid, tuna collar, grilled shrimp, etc. it was served family style on a bed of banana leaves. Food was ok.

Upon entering it doesn't really look like much but when you step in you first see a shop filled with authentic traditional philippine decor. From dining plates to beautiful handcrafted vases and local artwork I was amazed. Service- We were seated promptly and all the staff were so friendly and courteous. They went through the menu and answered all questions and even gave us a tour of the balcony sitting area. Food- Delicious.. We had multiple dishes since we were a big group. We had the Seafood platter. Grilled black calamari sounds and looks weird but it was one of the best tasting dishes I ever had! Okoy seafood fried cakes fried garlic rice and grilled oysters. It was definitely a treat. The portion sizes were big and everything cooked to perfection. The view was amazing from the balcony where you could also be seated. the lush hills of greenery is a great backdrop for photos or just to admire the view. Everything was perfect. Definitely a place to see!

Service- pretty slow considering there were tons of servers. Food-- this is a family style restaurant- hence every order is for 2-4 people. Appetizer- we had boneless crispy pata-- crispy, fatty and definitely a must have here. Main meal- we ordered Bulalo(Beef and tendons kn broth), something Binakol, and the grilled native fish. The flavor profile for Bulalo and Binakol was really subtle- and not at all impressive. The grilled fish was actually pretty good. Garlic or plain white rice is ordered separately, and I recommend garlic if you are eating dry food. We didn't stick around for desert.. but they do offer a pretty good selection.
