We went to Leona's instead, because we know that the place is never full, as per our other friends. I wasn't really expecting much, since I imagined that the place would be one of those tried-and-tested institutions that you don't really hate, but you don't REALLY love either. We ordered their buy 2 + 1 pizza (for P500) and I was proved wrong. The thin crust pasta was ace. The crust was just beautifully done, and the cheese toppings were bursting with flavor. My friends tried the pepperoni pizza, and it was generous with the pepperoni. The garlic and mushroom pizza was also very nice, and all the pizzas went well with the shrimp and mushroom pasta that we ordered. I'm back today to try their P199 all you can eat pizza promo, and it's really worth the price. Leona's is easily my new favorite Maginhawa food stop.

Don't bother looking for the sign, it's not visible from where your coming from. Instead look for the the cluster of parked jeeps and SUVs. The place is airconditioned which is good but, don't be discouraged by the wooden benches, plastic chairs, concrete slab floor and the usual patrons: government officials, cockfight aficionados, gamblers, businessmen, jeepney drivers and the local police. The food, which is what you came for should be your only concern. Take your 500 bucks (about 10 US Dollars) and order any or all of the following: rice, chicharon bulaklak, stuffed fried frog, pako fern salad, tomatoes and salted duck eggs, lechon kawali, bulalo, tocinong kalabaw, beef barbecue, kamaro roasted grasshoppers, sisig, beef morcon, pampanga sweet longganisa, crab omelet, stuffed crab, frog's legs, fermented buro, camaron rebosado, crispy tempura kangkong leaves and beef mechado. This restaurant is inside downstairs from the SM Cinema, with an open patio area and a more private room for groups. We were in the private room. The decor is casual but nice. Tables were set and clean. Though there are meal combinations, we decided to order family style dishes. We were able to try many traditional Filipino dishes, which were cooked well and plated nicely. As far as I could tell, the recipes were authentic and well done. The ingredients used were good quality and no one became ill afterward. Here is a short list of some of the dishes I tried: Grilled scallops: small, but so delicious I could have eaten 3 plates on my own. Sisig: served on a hot plate, well seasoned, slightly crispy and delicious Kare Kare: very flavorful peanut sauce Crispy Pata: just when I thought lechon was the most unhealthy way to go, they deep fried this. Very crispy, not dripping in oil somehow but for sure a mega artery clogger. Ube Halo halo-espesyal: i'm not really sure what is going on, but they do not use regular ice for this.
