Very nice family. Our disappointment was that our deck needed refinishing (sanded, planks replaced…read moreand painted, etc). He pressure-washed the deck was going to try and paint it before it was fully dried, before sanding it, and before pulling up and repairing old pieces of weather-rotted wood(?). I'm not a carpenter by any stretch but knew this was not good. That evening when hubby got home we called to discuss our concerns about the rushed and "shabby" work. They agreed to return the next day and do the job right. They came the next morning he and his daughter returned to complete the work. The deck was still damp from the heavy rains but they were still going to push through, paint to finish the job(?). When I explained to the daughter that you cannot paint over wet planks nor over old cracking, flaking paint, she told her dad. They agreed and said they would sand everything smooth. 20mins later I was told they "they could not do the quality of work we needed done". We had pretty much come to this conclusion as well, as he just wanted to pain over everything even after we had discussed what was needed to refurbish the deck upon initiating the contract. . He wanted to take too many short cuts. We paid him for pressure washing the deck and for adding some new planks. We amicably ended the job. If you use Mr. Ortega, make sure you are very specific about what you need done and review/monitor it as he goes along to ensure it is done right. In our case he was going to just paint over "stuff" and told me that the paint would cover it(?). . We now have another contractor who saw exactly what we saw and is going to make any and all repairs before painting the deck. Also, note that Mr. Ortega doesn't appear to speak nor understand English. His daughter is bi-lingual and interprets for him. She is an honest kind person but has no say-so in any decisions made about the work.

Update to my original review:…read more Paul came back to do a much larger job for us. Paul re-plumbed 3 bathrooms, and our kitchen. Paul installed an instant hot water dispenser in our kitchen, installed all new faucets throughout our entire home, installed all new shower/tub faucets and drains for 3 bathrooms, removed and replaced 6 ceiling fans, removed 2 old satellite dishes from previous owner, fixed one cabinet, installed our new gas cooktop, and installed a new backsplash in our kitchen.
