I'm not sure of his name, but there is this guy who works the drive thru and always puts a happy face on the cups. Give them a raise! Yesterday I got a trenta peach green tea and a dragon fruit refresher for my girl. And I needed a little protein kick, so I got an egg and cheese box too. When I got to the drive thru and said my name and that I was picking up and online order, I was regretfully informed that they were all out of egg and cheese boxes but had fruit and cheese. (I love the fruit and cheese too, but the plain crackers in the fruit and cheese box suck compared to the muesli bread in the egg and cheese box, just saying.) I get to the window to pick up my order and somehow, this FABULOUS employee has managed to pull a egg and cheese box out of thin air! This is presented to me with *much* aplomb and the only response I can offer is an enthusiastic YAY!! Now to be totally honest, it's a little bit of a backtrack for me to go to this Starbucks. I could go to others closer to town, but the experience I've had at others is either really slow or a surly employee thrusting drinks at me through the drive thru window and closing it just as fast. The personal, friendly service and the magician who found me my egg and cheese box yesterday is what keeps me coming back time and time again. :)

With that being said, it's alright to ask a customer how their day is going, if they have any plans, blah blah, it's harmless. However; when it's clear that they're doing that just to get a tip, it becomes a nuisance. Don't try to butter me up because you know you're going to put that iPad in my face with the usual "it's just going to ask you a quick question", please spare me the fake manners. Especially when they IMMEDIATELY switch up in attitude the moment you hit no tip. It's one thing to ask for a tip if you're out in the hot sun walking up to cars, that's the only time I consider giving it if the personality doesn't seem too fake. But if I'm walking up to the window, or if there's no line and I drive straight up to the window to place my order, do not put that iPad in my face. Dutch bros needs to change the way they do this, these folks have gone from perceiving tips as compensation for exceptional service, to expecting it as a baseline. You are doing your job, you are working the legal wage you accepted when you signed to apply for the position. Do not play me for a fool and assume just because you asked "what I'm getting into today", that I'm suddenly going to feel obliged to give you free money, that's not how human interactions work. If the employees not walking up to my car, they need to not ask for a tip, Dutch bros needs to instruct their employees of this. If I didn't enjoy the coffee and if I didn't believe they were instructed to do this, I'd rate it one star and never come back. However, I know that's not the case. Hopefully they fix this.

The crew running the joint tonight was laughing as hard as I was and upon redeeming my birthday drink reward they made an extra special treat for me which of course was icing on the proverbial cake. I greatly appreciate the good humor of the employees as I slipped into a widdle bit of unexpected madness this evening and I truly thank them for playing along. A small 16oz latte starts at $6.50. If you're a black coffee/cold brew drinker, then prices are reasonable. If you're like me and you prefer some milk/flavor, then add $1 for oat milk. Another .50 for flavored syrup= $8.50 for a 16oz spiced iced brown sugar latte. It was a good latte, but $8.50 is too much and I can see that being hard to justify for most folks.
