Getaguru Soap Company in Tarpon Springs is an absolute gem! The moment you walk in, the mix of soap scents with incense creates such a delightful atmosphere. Quirky French music sets a fun, chill vibe, and it even looks like a working artist creates pieces right there in the shop. The staff is wonderful--the lady who helped us gave clear instructions for our smudge sticks and wrapped them with care. She was very nice. Every soap smells heavenly, but the verbena blend I picked up to help with anxiety is one I never want to stop smelling! I love that the prices are stamped right into each bar, and the selection is fantastic. I first discovered this shop nearly 15 years ago, and I'm so glad it's still around. Delightful little shop for all your soap and incense needs! I got a great smelling Nag Champa incense sticks box while visiting the area (my only regret is that I didn't buy 2!) They had all kinds of cute things to look at, and of course, the place smelled fantastic! read more

I love this little soap and bath bomb shop. Everything is handmade and artisan quality. I have purchased so many times over the years that John just expects me to pick up more every time we go to Tarpon Springs. I restrained myself this time only because the prices have gone up over the years. And I have learned how to make my own~ that darn "I can do that" mentality. This is a cute little shop in the heart of Tarpon Springs, not a touristic as expected with a rugged look. They have a great variety of soaps in beautiful scents. The soaps are a little soft but will see once I try one of them. Besides soups, they also have incense and sage which according to the lady comes from an native American reservation somewhere in the Northwest (can't remember the location.) read more

I cannot recommend a business, even if I like the products, when the owner/staff (not sure what she was) is completely rude. In fact, I will not only never be back, but all the out-of-state visitors I get will be guided AWAY from this store! Let me start by saying that I have purchased soaps and bath bombs from this store for over 10 years. Every friend or family member that comes to Florida to visit gets the grand tour of Tarpon Springs, which has always included Getaguru. The staff has never necessarily been "nice", but they were never just brazenly rude...this week topped all of that! I was wanting to get some bath bombs to send to my mom in California for Mother's Day. I walked up at 10:35am and a woman was starting to put her key in the door...she stopped, pulled the key out, and said "Can I help you?"...so I said I wanted to buy bath bombs....she proceeded to tell me she had to count the money and set up the register, it would be at least 10 minutes...so since there wasn't a sign on the door with posted hours, I asked what time they open...and here's where it went all wrong...she said whenever I get here and get the register open, and said it in a very rude way. Ummm....No, wrong answer! I will now go out of my way to avoid Getaguru, because let's face it, there's plenty of other small businesses that appreciate their customers...and I plan to support those! read more

I have stopped here twice now and absolutely love the selection. Their soaps are amazing. They offer different prices depending on the size of the block of soap. My reason for not five stars then? The woman who was working today was extremely grumpy. She had no smile on her face and just did not want to be bothered at all. Try to make a joke with her and she kind of just gave us a look of confusion or discussed. If they get rid of her, this place would be a five star joint with the best soaps in town. read more

Beautiful displays, great family history and the plates of soaps look and smell fabulous! I love the atmosphere of this shop amongst all the typical touristy stores along the strip. Artistic, friendly, unique. Bath bombs and beautiful printed fabrics for table clothes or bedspreads. Walking down the main drag of downtown Tarpon Springs, I smelt this shop before I actually came to it! But it was s clean healthy smell, nothing artificial like I have sometimes encountered at Bath and Body works. After I read the shops manifesto which is on this big colourful board, I was really compelled to enter and One thing that struck me straightaway was that the shop was being kept cooled by fans, so low energy compared to the AC that the other shops were blasting away - so these guys definitely live up to their ethos! The stock was fairly eclectic and along with soaps, they also stock candles, fizzy balls and incense. I frequently travel to Getaguru from Plant City. That is about an hour away. Even though they don't have a huge selection, the soaps themselves are second to none. Be aware that some soaps are tough on freshly shaved skin due to the oils. The easiest way to tell what will work best for you is to consult the people working. read more

I have passed this place an absurd amount of times without considering that I check it out. The outside colors were inviting, but I think I feared the prices - I mean hey, you can get a huge bottle of body wash for $3 at Wal-Mart, so why would I want to buy soap bars here? HERE'S WHY (also known as: Things I Found Out After Finally Walking In & Making a Purchase) - - Because the smell is so very soothing in the shower (I've only tried lemon and - eucalyptus as of now) - Because the smell stays on me and it is both calming and enjoyable - Because it miraculously cured a rash I had for far too long that 3 different creams from my doctor could not battle. Not trying to be gross here, but when you have a rash for over a year that no one can take care of, and some olive oil soap cures it...that's pretty damn cool - Because each bar lasts longer than expected as long as you follow the rules they give you ...and that's why this is my new soap product, which has also given me faith in natural solutions. Prices vary by bar. The price is carved into the bar. That big 4 on the soap? Yeah, that's a price. Took me too long to figure out. My only disappointment was that while it made my face look so much better, I still had blackheads on my nose. They don't promise that it cures blackheads - I was just kind of hoping it - but! There is one soap that is meant for blackheads...trying that one next! And definitely buying LOTS more eucalyptus soap :) read more

This is the only soap that I use on my body. Knowing that it is homemade with natural ingredients is a huge importance during this age of chemicals. My husband has suffered from psoriasis for decades. This soap somehow miraculously decreased his psoriasis. He is no longer itchy in the winter, and has less breakouts. During the summer months I have breakouts on my hips from sweating in this awful Florida heat. Using this soap has completely taken it away. So was it the heat or was it the chemicals that I was putting on my body to try and cure the breakouts? I'm guessing it's the chemicals because let's face it, it's only getting hotter here in Florida. I like the fact that I am supporting a small business owner instead of the big box stores. The soap is a bit pricey then your Irish Spring, but it is infinitely better for you. They have a different flavors of soap. When I went in today they had Rose, tangerine, orange and clove, Teatree oil, lemon verbena, and unscented. There are a few that I missing, but I can't remember them all. I feel so lucky that I found this place. It has helped my summer break outs and my husband's psoriasis. If you have any skin inflammation, and feel like you've tried everything, this is a great place to try. If you're looking for natural ingredients and homemade soaps that support small business owners, give this place a try. read more

I am not a tourist and frequent this place often for the soaps. My daughter had a lavender soap for which she had a skin reaction too. I brought it back it was $7.00. I told the lady there what had happened and we just wanted to get something else that would work better. She rudely said no refunds and we couldn't pick out anything else. The have no refund policy stating we couldn't return anything. So I told her we will never be back. She didn't seem to care. I just wanted others to know how we were treated. I've been to a few handmade soap joints, both in the bay area and up in New Orleans, and this one is just average due to the selection limitation. They had more variety in bath fizzers than with soaps, so they need to work on that. I think more people take showers than baths these days. On the flip side, the owner was extrememly friendly and helpful with they did have in stick, so there's that. read more

We spent $46.78 worth of merchandise this store. On our way out I overheard the two ladies that were working at the counter who had just taken taken our money call my mother rude. I turned around and told the lady that it's not the way to talk to someone especially after they bought so many things. She turned to me and told me that lady was rude. I explained that is my mother and she went off telling me I am a ***** One of the ladies at the counter was Dani I'm not sure of the other ladies name. What a great find. You must visit this store when in town. I bought a few bars of soap to try and was blown away. I have never experienced genuine quality handmade soap before. My skin is no longer dry and I never get spots anymore. It is a really cool store with great atmosphere so I will be back.
